For being pissed off that a fb 'friend' is selling (what are clearly) stolen supermarket items on face book?

Someone on my friends list has begun selling an array of super market items, mainly cleaning products, baby milk, cheese and coffee, on her face book page and it's fairly obvious she's either stolen these items her self, or is selling them on behalf of someone else.

There's numerous photos of the products and messages from other's asking her for her prices and offering to buy whatever.
I'm really disgusted by this and hate thieves, and I'm thinking of screen shotting everything and reporting her to the Police (anonymously though)

Is there any point?. I can't 'proove' where these items are from after all, but I'm livid that this c.f. has the nerve to deal with stolen goods and sell them online!
What would you do in this situation?

Who would buy cheese off Facebook

Same people who used to buy it from 'the man in the pub'.

chocolateworshipper · 05/10/2018 11:54

How do you know she is not buying the wholesale?

That was my first thought - maybe she's got a card for Costco or one of the other wholesalers.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 05/10/2018 11:55

I had no idea there was a thriving cheese market on facebook Confused

Kpo58 · 05/10/2018 11:57

It doesn't sound like a wholesaler. Costco isn't that cheap and certainty not cheap enough to sell things half RRP at cost or any kind of profit.

Worieddd · 05/10/2018 11:58

They’re either stolen or from a food bank

Rockandrolling · 05/10/2018 11:58

I'm only on her fb as she added me, I don't 'associate' with her for numerous reasons. She's much younger than me and the daughter of someone I know.

I had no idea that she would do this, hence my surprise.
She doesn't drive and I can't see why on earth she would suddenly sell all this stuff (for half the shop price) if it wasn't stolen.
I'm going out but will come back on later.

I would report to Crimestoppers

AuntBeastie · 05/10/2018 11:59

I don’t think you have enough information to know whether these items are stolen. They may frequently go missing from supermarkets but where is your evidence that that’s what’s happening here? The items might have been bought wholesale, or leftover from an event which over-catered, or given by a relative etc. Maybe theft is still the most likely explanation but what is your reason for reporting other than a gut feeling or a suspicion?

It’s up to you what you do but on the evidence you have I wouldn’t bother. Block her on social media and move on.

Cheesy pics perhaps Hmm

KathDayKnight50 · 05/10/2018 12:00

Then I would do whatever you have to do to not see her posts, unfriend her or whatever the etiquette is on FB. Don't "associate" with her in any way, shape or form if you believe she is bad news.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 05/10/2018 12:00

I was going to say exactly that. Costco's generally cheaper than the supermarkets, but not so cheap that this would be worth your while.

Rockandrolling · 05/10/2018 12:01

Reason I mentioned the no driving. She is hardly likely to buy all these products, without a car, then sell them dirt cheap.
She also commented that she wanted them gone as soon as possible. I wonder why. Hmm

I thought baby milk had to be sold for the same price everywhere and couldn't be on special offer or anything so if she's selling a lot a formula I would say it's almost certainly stolen.

I don’t expect she’s going to conform to trading standards 🤣

ADastardlyThing · 05/10/2018 12:04

Beak out, you have no proof.

I've sold stuff like that if I've bought in bulk from wholesalers and haven't got enough room for everything. Not on FB though admittedly, too many nosey parkers around.

BarbaraofSevillle · 05/10/2018 12:05

From my very limited experience of FB marketplace, I believe that it is compulsory to include the words 'need gone' within every advert.

Holidayfromreal · 05/10/2018 12:05

Sorry don't know why that posted twice. Stupid phone. My point was why would you sell it on because I'm assuming she is selling for less than the shops so it would make no sense to sell on baby formula.

AlevelConfusion · 05/10/2018 12:05

They’re either stolen or from a food bank

Oh yes, she could have got them from the food bank Shock
However she has acquired them, there is no way she has bought them.

Rudgie47 · 05/10/2018 12:06

Plenty of people will buy food no questions asked.
The person could be selling food from a food bank or another type of food project, which is questionable as well.
OP I would just block the friend from Facebook.

MrBull · 05/10/2018 12:06

How few brain cells does she have that she's doing it on Facebook? Report her to crime stoppers. These aren't victimless crimes. Costs us all money in the long run.

glintandglide · 05/10/2018 12:07

Well yeah it would because why would anyone buy baby formula from her for the same price you can get it in boots?

I’m fairly certain food banks don’t give out any of the stuff detailed in the OP

glintandglide · 05/10/2018 12:08

Stolen goods are sold on Facebook all the time. They know the police aren’t going to do anything about it

BeautyQueenFromMars · 05/10/2018 12:09

Poundshop.com often sells that sort of thing. And the delivery is free if you order enough stuff. So she could be doing that.
