For being pissed off that a fb 'friend' is selling (what are clearly) stolen supermarket items on face book?

Someone on my friends list has begun selling an array of super market items, mainly cleaning products, baby milk, cheese and coffee, on her face book page and it's fairly obvious she's either stolen these items her self, or is selling them on behalf of someone else.

There's numerous photos of the products and messages from other's asking her for her prices and offering to buy whatever.
I'm really disgusted by this and hate thieves, and I'm thinking of screen shotting everything and reporting her to the Police (anonymously though)

Is there any point?. I can't 'proove' where these items are from after all, but I'm livid that this c.f. has the nerve to deal with stolen goods and sell them online!
What would you do in this situation?

If it was wholesale surely she would have more than 4 blocks of cheese?

PenelopeFlintstone · 05/10/2018 14:08

I'd like to be able to buy some knock-off cheese because of the rate at which my son eats it.

glintandglide · 05/10/2018 14:10

I tried to steal a huge cheese from a party once but when I got home it was a fake one

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 05/10/2018 14:19

Man in the pub near me sells big blocks of Cathedral City for £2. But OP, get a life and mind your own business. You don't even know for definite if it is stolen.

Rockandrolling · 05/10/2018 14:22

I'll reply more later, just nipping in as busy.
It's cathedral city cheese 350g so not baby bels.

To the poster who said I was a 'net curtain twitcher', well maybe I should wonder whether that poster condones people buying what are likely to be stolen goods?..... ffs

OP posts:
glintandglide · 05/10/2018 14:23

Maybe they do? It’s none of your business really is it OP?

Rockandrolling · 05/10/2018 14:24

Oh I just saw your post chocolate.

By your comments, do you condone buying knock off goods?

Charlie97 · 05/10/2018 14:26

@Rockandrolling that's up to the person buying the stolen goods to be sure they came from a legitimate source......I really don't think someone is going to think they're being sold end of line or whatever.

What is your actual reason for reporting to the police? Concerned about the supermarket losing money, jealous that the friend is making money, think you should make the world a place that is crime free?

In fairness modern day curtain twitcher is a fair analogy!

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 05/10/2018 14:32

I knew somebody who sold lots of different things online on her own FB page .

She never stole the items . They were bought mainly from Poundland at the largest big town to her (lives pretty rural) and sold them, for £1.50 each . People bought them as they either could not get into Town or because they never really had the time to shop in town (lot of Farmers bought the stock) so OPs "friend" is not necessarily a thief.

JoeElliotsMullet · 05/10/2018 14:37

I work in retail but not the food bit. We put security tags on all the obvious stuff like razors and nicotine gum and diet whey....but we also have to put tags on coldsore cream, thrush cream, and the more expensive ibuprofen rubs [puzzled].
The number of people who nick single pantyliners/tenalady/tampons/swimming nappies is unbelievable. Oh and flu tablets. For fucks sake.
Yes [BIG SUPERMARKET OF YOUR CHOICE HERE] are evil corporations blah blah blah but it's still stealing.

TheGoddessFrigg · 05/10/2018 14:47

You should join your local FB selling group. It's hilarious- the most random shit is sold, like one pillowcase and a pair of trainers. all obviously shoplifted or burgled.

twattymctwatterson · 05/10/2018 14:47

You sound incredibly sanctimonious. Before you ask, no I don't condone shoplifting but I do know that in general shoplifters are people who have pretty desperate lives and I would be wondering why she felt she had to do that. Ultimately you have zero proof these items are stolen, without that I really doubt that police would take action. I'd remove someone from Facebook if their posts were really bothering me

pictish · 05/10/2018 14:52

Perhaps rather than questioning where she gets her cheese and air fresheners from, perhaps you ought to be asking yourself why you have the head space and time to consider reporting someone to the police for selling cheese on facebook.
Make yourself busy. Forget about this woman’s dodgy jars of Nescafé. Ffs.

bridgetreilly · 05/10/2018 14:59

Could they be things she bought on BOGOF offers and is selling the 'free' one?

RavenLG · 05/10/2018 15:00

I'm only on her fb as she added me you know you don't need to accept everyone as a friend that adds you, right?

If you can prove they are stolen then go to the police, phone 101 if you're not sure to ask for advise, delete from facebook and then move on with your life.

MrBull · 05/10/2018 16:08

Well if she's selling knock off cheese she'll have to be very Caerphilly that she doesn't get caught.

tccat · 05/10/2018 16:19

She'll brie caught eventually

Charlie97 · 05/10/2018 16:21

@tccat now that comment was a bit cheesy! Although I'm sure all this hasn't come out of the "blue"!

Charlie97 · 05/10/2018 16:21

@MrBull Grin

TheSheepofWallSt · 05/10/2018 16:29

@JoeElliot

That list is all stuff that if you were in desperate need, incredibly impoverished, and had no other choice, most of us might be moved to filch.

I think it’s a list dripping with despair, and I have nothing but compassion for people in that situation- stealing is not “black and white” any more- with the removal of the welfare state safety net (such as it was) there are definite shades of grey.

The fact that this list puzzles you, shows your ignorance and your lack of companion.

TheSheepofWallSt · 05/10/2018 16:29

Compassion** ffs

GenderApostate · 05/10/2018 16:31

Now I know there’s a black market for cheese - DH works at a v. well known cheese brand, he can get stuff from the staff shop, £1.25 for a large block. He’s allowed to buy £15 a week, I could make a whole £9.00 a week in profit by flogging them for £2 a block (it sells for £3 - £3.50) . Grin

UnsolicitedCockPics · 05/10/2018 16:36

"Who would buy cheese off Facebook??"

This really made me laugh
