For being pissed off that a fb 'friend' is selling (what are clearly) stolen supermarket items on face book?

Someone on my friends list has begun selling an array of super market items, mainly cleaning products, baby milk, cheese and coffee, on her face book page and it's fairly obvious she's either stolen these items her self, or is selling them on behalf of someone else.

There's numerous photos of the products and messages from other's asking her for her prices and offering to buy whatever.
I'm really disgusted by this and hate thieves, and I'm thinking of screen shotting everything and reporting her to the Police (anonymously though)

Is there any point?. I can't 'proove' where these items are from after all, but I'm livid that this c.f. has the nerve to deal with stolen goods and sell them online!
What would you do in this situation?

I agree with charlie97 too, it doesn’t increase cost to everyone- pricing in competitive markets is far from that simplistic. I’d consider it payback for the supermarkets fucking over farmers- I couldn’t care less about them

Haffiana · 05/10/2018 12:56

Call the police! And then come back to tell us exactly how much they bollocked you for wasting their time.

You are a modern-day net curtain twitcher.

adviceonthepox · 05/10/2018 12:58

Tag your local police force in the post 😂

One of my neighbours works for a company and sometimes they get boxes of short shelf life stuff, and offer them round all the people they know. Could it be something like that.

combatbarbie · 05/10/2018 13:06

She could be bulk buying from Costco, buying in Poundland....

Jackietheduck · 05/10/2018 13:07

I'd never think one of my friends was stealing from a supermarket. Its a very strange assumption to make about a friend of yours tbh.

Ask her where she is getting these products?

Charlie97 · 05/10/2018 13:09

@glintandglide ! Yep bloody right!

PiperPublickOccurrences · 05/10/2018 13:12

Have you ever been to Costco? It's not that much cheaper that you can buy things to sell at half the price you get them for in Tesco.

Why are people desperate to believe anything but the blindingly obvious?

PorkFlute · 05/10/2018 13:18

Report if you’re suspicious but there are plenty of ways you can get things for much less than half the rrp at discount shops, surplus shops online, using vouchers etc. Especially if the produce is near to its use by. Just check out extreme couponers - they end up getting paid to take stuff off retailers hands. She may just be making herself a bit of profit selling stuff on.
I agree that Facebook cheese buying is grim though. Reminds me of the market near us that sells bags of meat of dubious origin from the back of a van (probably horse).

Witchofwisteria · 05/10/2018 13:20

Whats her name and where does she live? I need some new yankee candles - does she take orders?

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 05/10/2018 13:23

If you're part of a buying and selling group, then report to Admins.

If it's something obviously dodgy - tobacco, alcohol, parts from a particular model car from about four or five different sellers, try Crimestoppers.

flopsyrabbit1 · 05/10/2018 13:23

some on here really do live a sheltered life

I must know, retail worker types, why cheese and coffee are such prized commodities.

misses point of thread

BarbaraofSevillle · 05/10/2018 13:35

Because they're relatively expensive, easily concealed and non perishable to a degree, ie cheese will be fine for a few hours/day out of the fridge.

Has no-one ever seen security tags on meat, razors and other relatively high value items in supermarkets?

PenelopeFlintstone · 05/10/2018 13:37

Coffee, I get. Baby milk, I get. Plug-ins, I get. Meat, I get.
I still don't really get the cheese. It would get warm, it's too big for your pocket. Can make a lot of toasted sandwiches for tea, I guess.

How is a large bottle of Persil easily concealed?

troodiedoo · 05/10/2018 13:38

I'm wondering if we have the same friend OP Grin

Has no-one ever seen security tags on meat, razors and other relatively high value items in supermarkets? Honestly, no.

PenelopeFlintstone · 05/10/2018 13:39

But I can imagine there being a need. Not being obtuse.

BarbaraofSevillle · 05/10/2018 13:40

Cheese is the most shoplifted item in the world apparently.

JayZed · 05/10/2018 13:44

Are we talking like baby-bel or fucking mighty blocks of the stuff?

PenelopeFlintstone · 05/10/2018 13:56

Interesting, Barbara!
Big blocks, I think, Jayzed?

Op - Unfollow her and forget about it.
