AIBU to think Morrisons sales of Mozzarella are going to drop because of this

Have you seen how they are packaging their mozzarella now? In a clear plastic bag.

Now I love the stuff, but seeing a white misshapen ball floating abound in a cloudy liquid with stringy bits of what looks like mucus is not selling it to me!

The photo doesn't capture the floating bits I'm afraid bit this gives you an idea.

I’ve bought mozzarella sold in transparent packs.

primoestate · 02/10/2018 08:56

Personally prefer it.

covetingthepreciousthings · 02/10/2018 08:56

YANBU. Mozzarella needs to be in non see through packaging. No one needs to see that, it's grim.

I always snip the corner, drain and then I don't get to see it floating in that.

Allycumpooster · 02/10/2018 09:00

I think your being a bit precious. It’s soft cheese floating in liquid, of course it looks like that Confused

JuneFromBethesda · 02/10/2018 09:00

Doesn't bother me.

TeddyIsaHe · 02/10/2018 09:00

Ffs if you’re scared of looking at cheese then how do you even get through a day?! It’s normal, not everything has to be comepletely sanitised and hidden from view just incase someone sees a bit of cheese floating in water.

BuffyTheMLMHunter · 02/10/2018 09:01

Is it not important to know what food looks like (and where it comes from)?

user1471426142 · 02/10/2018 09:04

It wouldn’t stop me buying it if I needed mozzarella but I think there is a reason most packaging isn’t transparent. It’s not exactly visually appealing.

Havaina · 02/10/2018 09:14

Is this lighthearted?

If it isn't, I'll file this as a first word problem under 'Hide'.

Branleuse · 02/10/2018 09:15

thats what mozarella looks like. If someone wants to use fresh mozarella then im sure they will still buy it

ParanoidGynodroid · 02/10/2018 09:17

I think it looks quite cute... like a suspended snowball.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 02/10/2018 09:18

I imagine that sales of ‘own brand’ will probably drop because some people will be put off and I don’t see anyone buying it who wouldn’t normally, it’s not exactly a selling feature is it?!

I’m not sure if it would bother me or not, but I buy a branded one I prefer anyway and I don’t shop in Morrisons 🤷🏻‍♀️

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 02/10/2018 09:19

I make my own usually, but when I buy it I'd probably prefer transparent packaging if it was available.

Juells · 02/10/2018 09:20

Appetite starts with the eyes Grin

Wouldn't stop me buying it, but my hand might automatically pass it over in the fridge and I'd select the deelicious Cambazola in the non-see-through packaging instead. After a while I'd notice it was out of date, and throw it out.

TonTonMacoute · 02/10/2018 09:20

I love buying mozzarella from a real cheese shop, where they fish it out of a big bowl of cheesy water.

People who like things authentic, and not completely sanitised and hermetically sealed in plastic, May prefer it and sales will go up!

SuburbanRhonda · 02/10/2018 09:22

completely sanitised and hermetically sealed in plastic,
...like the mozzarella in the picture in the OP

Everything to do with cheese and cheese-making has to be sanitised.

redsummershoes · 02/10/2018 09:25

yabu, that's what it looks like.

ArcheryAnnie · 02/10/2018 09:29

But mozzarella IS a big misshapen ball. It's like not wanting to buy carrots because they are orange and pointy, even though you love carrots.

How to you usually buy it? With your eyes closed?

Juells · 02/10/2018 09:29

SuburbanRhonda - it's not that difficult to make, although nowadays I make paneer, which is even easier. Here's a squashy one I made earlier.

Imagine the horror mozzarella virgins must feel the first time they open an opaque pack i.e. no horror at all.

primoestate · 02/10/2018 09:37

How do you make Mozarella?
I'd love to that.

speakout · 02/10/2018 09:40

I like the packaging.

You can get a look at the texture and colour of the cheese before you buy it.

thenightsky · 02/10/2018 09:43

Is this to do with Morrisons moving over to biodegradable plastics? If so I definitely approve. If not, then I'm not bothered what it looks like tbh.
