I have nothing but contempt for your brand of feminism. I don't like bigots

Making fun of classical feminism theory implies that you're not really a fan of feminist thought at all.

I don't like anti feminist bigots either.

Elephantinacravat · 05/10/2018 15:37

No, you just don't want to see it!

I'd love to see yours Verbeena. Especially as you keep calling me transphobic for not believing that transwomen are women.

Just start a post with

Woman:

And write your definition, that way I cant miss it.

Ereshkigal · 05/10/2018 15:39

But but but I thought beliefs and feelings were irrelevant in FWR discourse these days? Is it not all about facts?

The point is, as I and others illustrated by quoting facts, that some beliefs are founded on facts and some are not. Not my fault you seem unable to grasp this.

StormTreader · 05/10/2018 15:40

"Really? "Prove" it.
No need to prove anything? It's there in black and white."

No no no, the PWR posters have clearly established that this isn't how this works. When they've demanded people prove things, they've insisted on detailed manifestos of examples. That's the standard YOU set and I hold you to it. So prove it.

VerbeenaBeeks · 05/10/2018 15:41

Other people have been saying that they have. I have too. You flat out, absolutely are incapable of seeing though,it's utterly bizarre.

RatRolyPoly · 05/10/2018 15:41

Ooh, ooh, me! I want to define it!

Woman:

  1. an adult female human 2)one who identifies meaningfully as an adult female human

Ta da!

VerbeenaBeeks · 05/10/2018 15:41

Exactly, stormtreader.

Ereshkigal · 05/10/2018 15:42

^It's either reading issues, comprehension issues or literally completely unwilling to see.
The closed off mindset of some is baffling.^

Quite agree, it's a real problem. Perhaps I would be more willing to see your POV if you explained why exactly you subscribe to this faith based belief position?

Wolfiefan · 05/10/2018 15:44

Started by someone who knew what they were doing?
Yep. Someone who wanted to avoid having to read exactly THIS kind of bickering. And you’ve bought it to this thread too.
Now kindly get back to the topic LEM wanted to hide and leave us to our cute bat pictures.
Thanks.

Ereshkigal · 05/10/2018 15:46

meaningfully

Interesting word. How are you defining this?

Cat - felis catus. Except the ones which are canis lupus familiaris.

How would that definition be in any way useful?

VerbeenaBeeks · 05/10/2018 15:48

I have no bat pictures. Or squirrels. Sad
I like squirrels. And bats.

Ereshkigal · 05/10/2018 15:49

When they've demanded people prove things, they've insisted on detailed manifestos of examples.

Do you understand what an extraordinary claim is? "Transwomen are women" is such a claim.

Whereas you can literally see the words on the thread. Goodness me.

Wolfiefan · 05/10/2018 15:49

Oooo. Squirrels. Red ones?

Ereshkigal · 05/10/2018 15:52

Why do you keep saying this? I've done both of those things. You might not agree with my definitions but I've done so. Honestly, it's as if you all get given stock phrases to use regardless of context.

It's not all about you? That point was addressed to Verbeena who on multiple threads today has failed to give a coherent definition.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 05/10/2018 15:53

Baby red squirrel?

To ask how to hide a topic
Elephantinacravat · 05/10/2018 15:54

1) an adult female human
2)one who identifies meaningfully as an adult female human

Right, well thank fuck for RatRolypoly! I have to say Rat, and I have said it before to you, I totally disagree with you, but you are literally the only poster who actually posts anything of substance and actually engages with arguments.

You know what I am going to say though don't you?

'Identifies meaningfully'............?

Also how can you 'identify meaningfully' as an adult human female, when the dictionary definition of 'adult human female' is
'Of the sex class which produces ova?'

Ereshkigal · 05/10/2018 15:56

Can you actually not read, or something? Or being deliberately obtuse?

That's you that is. I said "but it didn't" in response to the specific comment that the thread would have stayed as a "hide the topic" thread. Because it didn't. That's why it has evolved.

NopeNi · 05/10/2018 16:01

Long day here, was honestly hoping for some answers, but at heart, no one can explain how male can really become female, can they? It is like religion isn't it? (Water to wine and all that.)

Maybe that's the problem. This stuff shouldn't be based on feelings. Who could ever hope to arbitrate?

Not that it matters, I found out today we're all about to die in the antibiotic apocalypse anyway. So there's that.

VerbeenaBeeks · 05/10/2018 16:05

That's you that is Grin actual lolled at that, thanks. Reminds me of being at school primary school playground.
As in that saying "I'm rubber, you're glue, whatever you say sticks back on you!" Grin
Jeez.If that's the level, just.... I .... I can't even.

MilkTwoSugars awww that squirrels so cute

Lichtie · 05/10/2018 16:05

"Also how can you 'identify meaningfully' as an adult human female, when the dictionary definition of 'adult human female' is
'Of the sex class which produces ova'"

Is that not just the same argument recycled from homophobes that pointed to the dictionary definition of marriage when campaigning against gay marriage.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 05/10/2018 16:10

Ereshkigal - I said "but it didn't" in response to the specific comment that the thread would have stayed as a "hide the topic" thread. Because it didn't.

I made the comment about the thread changing because (I cant be arsed to scroll back to be specific - sorry)

The thread went

  • How do I hide a thread?
  • Here's how you do it
  • Is it FWR? I want to hide it too.
  • Oh GOD you're all so PATHETIC wanting to hide that topic, not being up in arms and agreeing with us about trans issues AND you wish the Suffragettes had shut up you bunch of handmaidens.
  • < FWR regulars accuse those posters of attacking and insulting them>
  • etc, etc.

The comment about it changing was a direct response to someone saying they came on to defend FWR when FWR were the ones who fired the first shot.

LikeIcare · 05/10/2018 16:17

I don't think TWAW.

I still hid FWR because there's nothing new posted about self ID/trans and hasn't been for years yet it's taken over the board. I don't think there's a lot of transphobia there, it's just fucking boring.

And before someone says 'you think caring about the rights of girls and women is boring?' in that faux way, no of course not. But having the same conversations about it for years is.

Elephantinacravat · 05/10/2018 16:17

Is that not just the same argument recycled from homophobes that pointed to the dictionary definition of marriage when campaigning against gay marriage.

No its not same argument at all. If women weren't oppressed solely on the basis of their biological sex, solely on the basis that they are of the sex class which produces ova then these definitions would not matter as much.

Women have been shat on from a great height over millenia purely on the basis of their biology. They have managed to carve out a set of rights based on their sex because of this. Nothing to do with their 'gender identity'. If it were then that would suggest that you can 'identify out of womanhood' that those women could 'identify out of their oppression'. But they can't can they, because you can't identify out of your sex. And if you can't identify out of it, then you can't identify into it either.

And now we have a group coming along and telling women that sex is irrelevant, it's gender identity that matters, and why are you so hung up on genitals and reproductive systems. Sex is not irrelevant. It's the basis of oppression. These definitions matter.

Elephantinacravat · 05/10/2018 16:19

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's 'fucking boring' but I do get where you are coming from. I think part of that is to do with the fact there are new posters constantly coming to the board, so a lot of the same questions cone up over and over.

And also the GRA consultation closes thus month so things are coming to a head there a bit as well.

GinIsIn · 05/10/2018 16:25

*I'll give you mine.

Woman = adult human female.*

How nice for you. My definition of female includes people choosing to live their lives as a female. So I too define woman as an adult human female.
