I couldn't care less whether this vile person calls themselves a woman or man. There are women who commit these crimes too.

Would you care if he was sent to a women’s prison, just because he said he was a woman?

Would you care if this crime was recorded as being committed as a woman, masking male violence and distorting that help inform policy/decisions?

Do you care that despite a judge saying that this is a man, newspapers are so down the rabbit hole that they still reported him as a woman, thereby placing a paedophile’s preference above truth and law?

YANBU. Males who commit male-pattern offences should lose the courtesy of getting to choose their pronouns, their crimes should be recorded as male crimes, and they certainly shouldn't be anywhere near women's prisons.

I care if male's are calling themselves women and committing crimes recorded as female crimes.

I don't want males housed in female prisons because it compromises the safety of the other female prisoners.

There are 14,000 men in prison for sex offences and 120 women.

Sex segregation is based on risk assessment. And being male is the risk.

Which is why saying women do it too, doesn't address the risk overall. Because it's so rare.

Who the hell wants someone who looks like Jacinta (wonder how tall and muscular he is) being able to waltz into female loos and changing rooms (communal or not), wards, contact sports team - even if he was a shy gentle man. This kind of thing is already happening now. Women with severe MH issues locked in on a ward with men with severe MH issues, who are also often sexually attracted to women.

As if a woman in that position weren’t vulnerable and struggling enough already.

My kids insist they don't chat with strangers on the internet. Still, I showed them the photo of Jacinta and said that this is who you might chat with if you chat with strangers on the internet. They didn't think she looked like a woman. They said she looks like a troll or an orc.

My DH has not been very interested in the self-ID debate, but he had a jolly good laugh at the idea of Jacinta being allowed to identify herself as a woman and he wasn't too impressed by the reporters who had written the word "woman" in the headline above the photo.

Yes, @TalkingInTheDark there are a lot of sexual abuse in mental hospitals, where they do not divide the departments according to sex.

There seems to be something very rotten festering at the heart of West Yorkshire. I hope one of the journalists now covering the gender-madness will start digging.

The original Metro article, when first posted, referred to the perpetrator as "she". This changed after a couple of hours, and all gendered pronouns were removed.

YANBU, by the way, but this IS what those of us who fear the changes to the GR Act are worried about.

And it will skew the stats, so that people can say "but women do it too" and show the skewed stats. As things stand in the UK, biological women cannot rape anyone as they don't have a penis, and UK law defines rape as penetration with a penis. Any "women" raping people are transwomen. Or men pretending to be transwomen in order to gain access to women-only spaces.

Self-ID removes all current safeguards for women AND genuine transwomen. It allows predatory males access to all areas, and no one can challenge them. Of course they can go anywhere they like at the moment but CURRENTLY they can be thrown out - once self-ID goes through, a man can say he is a woman and sit naked in a women's changing room, wanking if he feels like it. And if women and girls don't like it, THEY will have to find an alternative place to change.

I wonder if Eamon&Ruth will respond to those who have asked if they would unquestioningly accept Jacinta as a woman?
