This means rejecting ... biological materialism. This is a really big deal, with massive repercussions
Yep. It affects everything. How we understand ourselves & our world, how our societies are structured and administrated - everything. It means accepting that we have a "soul", for want of a better word, which overrides everything physical. Kids are already being taught this in school. It's on the verge of being codified in law (go here to make your views heard: fairplayforwomen.com/full_guide/ )
The last time this country was ruled according to dualistic principles was in the Middle Ages; we all know how well that worked for women - and a lot of men, too. At least they recognised women & men as two separate sexes though. If this gets into full swing, there won't actually be any words for the two sexes. Man, boy, male are supposed to mean "feels like a man" which is dictated by whether you fit the current gender stereotype of male. If you don't fit either stereotype, you're some in-between nonbinary genderqueer creature of no particular sex.
This part interests me (in a grimly horrified way) because the groups teaching what the stereotypes look like, and guiding children towards their self-diagnoses, are extremely biased and have changed the shape of this teaching rapidly, year by year. It's almost like they're setting themselves up as the arbiters of what "gender" people are. Like those voodoo priests & shamen who dictate the course of their flocks' lives by divining their spirits.
I could ramble on, sorry! But somebody's probably posted a more academic take by now, so I'll wait and see what other people say.
