AIBU?

To be mortified I just shouted 'fuck off you cunt' at my boss.

Bad day, terrible even. Was in a foul mood walking home from work. Crossing road at a T junction with my head down and a car beeped at me as it turned in to the minor road.
Assuming it was an impatient driver who honked at me to get out of the way, I looked up and shouted at the top of my voice 'FUCK OFF YOU CUNT!'
As the last word left my mouth I realised it was my boss and he was pipping his horn and waving to say hello. His window was down so I've no doubt he heard what I said.
We both looked at each other in horror as he drove off.
Shit, shit, shit.
It'll be ok, right?

Sorry but you're a legend. Cue pages of you being told off Grin

Flowers for your terrible day.

I'm sure it will be OK. Just apologise and explain the next time you see him. He sounds a friendly sort if he's pipping his horn when he sees you!

Do you wear a uniform that would make your workplace identifiable if it had been a stranger you shouted that at?

That's the only reason it could threaten your job really. Most places have a policy that you can't bring the company into disrepute while wearing the uniform. But if you're not easy to identify as their employee then your job is safe.

But you now don't look so good on a personal level.

Hopefully your boss will figure out that you were not shouting at him specifically.

If I was your boss I would definitely see the funny side so hopefully he will be the same

Should anyone try to tell you off - he was technically in the wrong for sounding his horn for a purpose other than to warn you of danger.

Ahh that’s awful! I always worry after an outburst like this that you never know who you’re shouting at/rolling your eyes at/whatever. Sorry for your shit day Flowers hopefully your boss will see the funny side.

I called my boss a dickhead on Thursday. I was on the phone to him when my colleague thought it would be utterly hilarious to press the lever on my chair that made it go down really fast. I was midsentence and it came out as "ok I'll do that now, you utter dickhead". Fortunately he saw the funny side Grin

Anyone who honks at a pedestrian deserves it, it it a shocking sound, easy to do from the comfort of a car but horrible for the person outside.

Oh dear, this sounds like something that would happen in a Richard Curtis film.

When you next go into work, make sure to complain very loudly about how stroppy your identical twin was all day on Saturday.

A wee bit racer near smashed into me and I shouted "you stupid bastard!!". Turns out it's our new, very young admin at work. Months later and it is obvious to all that he's slightly terrified of me Blush

Am I the only one that thinks it disgusting to shout that at someone, whatever they did!

Tee hee.

This is the sort of thing that would happen to me OP, except that I keep my head down and ignore whenever someone beeps me. Hate it.

But if it happened when I was crossing a side road, I would be VERY likely to make a rude comment to the driver. Which would be justified because (a) you don't beep and (b) pedestrians have priority when crossing side roads.
