Obviously don’t know the full facts, but the photos
Show the police being pretty heavy handed.

They look Muslim, so presume don’t drink alcohol, they have regularly buy the water from other branches of Tesco.
This behaviour by the police looks like the sort of treatment meted out by racist officers towards African Americans in the US.

I am disgusted by the thuggish behaviour of the police and I hope Mr. Hussain succeeds in his complaint to the PCC.

Any police officer who can't diffuse a situation like this, without pushing, shoving and taking a swing at the head, needs time off for retraining.

Nicknacky · 27/09/2018 22:07

Because sometimes you can’t diffuse a situation. It’s as simple as that, you can’t work miracles and sometimes it ends up in a struggle/fight.

RebelRogue · 27/09/2018 22:09

He's a gobby little shite isn't he?

tillytop · 27/09/2018 22:10

sometimes it ends up in a struggle/ fight And a swing to the head? Bad policing.

Nicknacky · 27/09/2018 22:13

From what others have said it’s a restraint gone wrong and it was open handed. I will watch it again closer.

But clearly you are an expert in restraint so perhaps you can advise how it should be done?

greathat · 27/09/2018 22:13

Bottled water is terrible. The stuff that comes out of the taps is fine. Instead we pollute the planet making plastic bottles. Then further pollute it moving bottles full of warm tee round the country. Just do the world a favour and turn the tap on

WorraLiberty · 27/09/2018 22:15

it's a sad fact that this thread will go off on a tangent ranting about religion and culture

Well, there were 200 posts before you typed that and not a single rant or tangent...

Nicknacky · 27/09/2018 22:15

Yep, it’s open handed.

tillytop · 27/09/2018 22:25

Open handed or not, a police officer should not be taking a swipe at someone's head.

Nicknacky · 27/09/2018 22:27

tilly He wasn’t taking a swipe at his head. Remeber, he knows he is getting filmed.

But when someone starts struggling with you, you need to do whatever legal means possible to get them under control without injury to yourself and ideally them as well. But the officer was hurt. Does that matter to you at all?

Nofilter · 27/09/2018 22:30

They are vile and absolutely nightmare citizens!

Poor Tesco staff and police...

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 27/09/2018 22:33

Horrified! Even shoplifters aren't treated like that. That was very poor training indeed.

As usual blame it on the customers. Who should nod thier heads like a dog and obey every single rule and not even questuon things in the world.

Wtf? He wanted to know why he could buy them in one store and not the other.

Who cares if it was 70 bottles or 700... He wasn't stealing. He was simply debating and questioning the fact?

Disgusting behaviour from the cop

Nicknacky · 27/09/2018 22:34

He should have left as soon as he was told to by staff. He caused this, not the cop.

user1457017537 · 27/09/2018 22:36

I buy lots of water and soft drinks. I suppose the couple had no other shopping though, other than the water which was on offer. However, today I had paid for a small amount of shopping in John Lewis Foodhall and picked up what I thought was a promotion booklet for winter. My mistake, it was the Waitrose magazine which is exactly the same size as the entertaining brochure. I was stopped and treated like a shoplifter. I said I was sorry but I had a Waitrose card and the copy was free anyway. The supervisor was rude and aggressive and told me I couldn’t just take a copy. Fair enough, I didn’t know it was the magazine but she could have offered to take my card and scan the mag and give it to me. Of course she didn’t, she accompanied me out of the store as if to make sure I didn’t steal anything on my way out.

RebelRogue · 27/09/2018 22:37

I can see the customer is always right brigade is out and about.

starzig · 27/09/2018 22:39

There is often a limit to prevent forward sales at elevated prices.

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 27/09/2018 22:39

@user Terrible behaviour from the store. I hope u gp on to name and shame them on social media. We spend our hard earned cash in these stores. We do not need heavy handedness. A calm and collective attitude from the retailer is what is expected.

welshmist · 27/09/2018 22:41

We live in a tourist area. I see customers buying trolleys full of bread, baked beans, water etc. for their guest houses. Had to chuckle when I saw the owner of the local Chinese empty the freezers at Iceland of chinese chicken wings. I have never seen anyone refused who bought in bulk here. The checkout girl said he is in all the time doing this.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/09/2018 22:42

it’s a restraint gone wrong and it was open handed

So glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. Admittedly I don't go around punching people, but I always thought a punch involved a closed fist, which that certainly wasn't

Not having been there I don't pretend to know, but to me it looked more like an arm-out grab towards something (collar? jacket? who knows?)

Nicknacky · 27/09/2018 22:44

puzzled He would have been trying to grab/restrain him but when you have a struggling suspect then all the training in the world won’t make it go to plan. I’m not a fighter, when I have ended up in a struggle instinct kicks in as well as training.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 27/09/2018 22:44

Why the fuck would anyone need to buy any water in plastic bottles, let alone more than 10 bottles in one transaction? It comes out of the tap for next to nothing. You're all mad!

*misses the point of the thread.

VanGoghsDog · 27/09/2018 22:46

IT'S FLAVOURED WATER AND PEOPLE CAN DRINK IT IF THEY WANT TO!

CrispbuttyNo1 · 27/09/2018 22:47

Even with the editing they were goading and being arseholes. They were in the wrong filming. They had so much arrogant attitude, and from their comments about all the other Tesco branches selling it to them it’s clear to me they were buying up as much as they could to sell on.

As for her screaming about being punched .. she deserves the Roxanne Pallet award for acting and lying.

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 27/09/2018 22:51

Agreed. The woman did go slightly crazy with her response. But definetly the cop handled the whole thing terribly.

The man could have been escorted nicely out the shop without the cop pressing against his chest. If you look closely that's exactly whst he does! Once again.. no need. I have seen dangerous customers that weren't treated anywhere near that.

SoupDragon · 27/09/2018 22:53

op you have posted something and sided with brown Muslims. don't expect the majority of MNers to agree with you.

My opinion would remain the same if the man had been white, afro-Caribbean, Asian or Martian or anything in between. He was the cause of the entire altercation. It’s so easy to blame different opinions on racism. Sometimes the person involved in this kind of thing is just a belligerent twat.

We have only seen footage edited and provided by the couple themselves
