Obviously don’t know the full facts, but the photos
Show the police being pretty heavy handed.

They look Muslim, so presume don’t drink alcohol, they have regularly buy the water from other branches of Tesco.
This behaviour by the police looks like the sort of treatment meted out by racist officers towards African Americans in the US.

I am disgusted by the thuggish behaviour of the police and I hope Mr. Hussain succeeds in his complaint to the PCC.

Nonce!?

RudeZebra · 28/09/2018 00:23

Trust me. They have been evacuating my local Tesco for the most (imo) small reasons!!!

Who has? What reasons?

How bout the dopey cop threaten to arrest him for a Public Behaviour disorder thingy. No mention of arrest

Ah the old "public behaviour disorder thingy" that well known piece of legislation Grin You're a regular Rumpole of the Bailey aren't you? Such a keen legal mind. So you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, but believe you're best qualified to pontificate over the best course of action. Has it occurred to you that those two officers present were probably a 1/3 of the shift working? If at all possible you'd avoid making an arrest for a very minor non event as that's those officers tied up for several hours. (and no doubt if they arrested him there'd be dozens of people complaining about him being arrested for something so minor and further claims of racism)

No let's just force this guy out the shop and save me the paperwork!!! Nonce.

You seem a little obsessed with sex offenders. Are you a little unwell?

BitOutOfPractice · 28/09/2018 00:25

So who was filming? Obviously an associate of the couple.

RudeZebra · 28/09/2018 00:29

I aint a cop! So stop grilling me. The policeman in question has supposedly had hours of training. Months of courses to attend.
Exactly. So has it occurred to you that maybe, just maybe he may know more about law, procedures, and officer safety techniques than you?

You're claiming to know what is and isn't professional. I'm not grilling you, I'm asking you to educate us as to what you would do as you're presenting yourself as a person in the know.

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 28/09/2018 00:30

@rude. What fucks me right off, can I just say or do I need a Law Degree to comment on anything?

Who gives a flying fuck about this legislation or that legislation! In your mind, unless you are educated to the highest level of that certain topic you are too thick to comment. You need to spend your hours at the DM comment section in that case.

Back to my final point. Those customers could have been moved off the presmises fairly calmly without that level of violence from the policeman. Ok, not a nonce. A prat?! That suit u?

MilkyTea20 · 28/09/2018 00:30

Whether the police were in the store to begin with or not, they simply shouldn't have been involved.

For a private company like Tesco to ask public employees(funded by taxpayers) to enforce their own silly policies is completely out of order, and the police should be looking at bringing forward a prosecution for wasting police time against Tesco.

I'd encourage everyone to contact their MP about why police officers now seem to be at the beck and call of private companies. And in the meantime, we should all be steering well clear of Tesco premises and taking our custom to businesses that don't threaten their customers with police.

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 28/09/2018 00:35

Amazing comments @milkytea!!! I second the part of contacting your MP. This is a serious matter. Police do not attend burglaries unless they are in progress (very worrying if it's happening right next door to you!!). But this fairly small senario had a whole load of policemen at the scene! What a waste. They could be doing something important!

Nicknacky · 28/09/2018 00:35

Tesco haven't wasted police time at all. And you are getting confused about what the offende of wasting police time actually is.

Nicknacky · 28/09/2018 00:35

Police do attend housebreaking.

Bolloxio · 28/09/2018 00:36

Looks like the police were very heavy handed..he did swing for the guys face. BUT it was all edited a fair bit, so I cannot judge properly. Also obviously they were buying it to sell on, I don't blame tesco for refusing, that trolley is ridiculous!

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 28/09/2018 00:36

No they don't!!! They didn't with me. Stop sticking up for them in every possible way. Ur being silly.

Madein1995 · 28/09/2018 00:37

Not sure who asked the police to step in, eg if it was the manager. Agree Tesco shouldn't enlist police to throw out customers. But if the customers were getting irate, were causing a disturbance to other customers, and there was the potential for violence (which happened) then I agree with the police stepping in. They couldn't just stand by and watch as the situation escalated, surely?

RudeZebra · 28/09/2018 00:37

For a private company like Tesco to ask public employees(funded by taxpayers) to enforce their own silly policies is completely out of order, and the police should be looking at bringing forward a prosecution for wasting police time against Tesco.

All well and good except for the fact it was the male who was arrested who got the police involved, NOT Tesco

Nicknacky · 28/09/2018 00:41

sunset They do. Stop sounding like a child.

RudeZebra · 28/09/2018 00:43

Who gives a flying fuck about this legislation or that legislation!

Well clearly you should if you're going to act like you know what you're talking about.

In your mind, unless you are educated to the highest level of that certain topic you are too thick to comment. You need to spend your hours at the DM comment section in that case.

Nope just a very basic level of intelligence will do.

Back to my final point. Those customers could have been moved off the presmises fairly calmly without that level of violence from the policeman.
You know that do you?

Again, how would you go about restraining that individual. You're very quick to criticise and say what shouldn't be done with an almost embarrassing lack of knowledge and insight but for some reason won't explain how you would have resolved the situation.

RudeZebra · 28/09/2018 00:48

Yes they do.

But this fairly small senario had a whole load of policemen at the scene! What a waste. They could be doing something important!

Hang on! A minute ago you were suggesting that the officers should have arrested him. Which would take them off the streets for at least 4/5 hours.

Which is It?

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 28/09/2018 01:05

@rude Way past your bedtime. Your last post is full of cow dung. The police did not attend a burglary! Would u like to see a police report?

Your tactic is either corner the poster and interview them and di sect thier opinion on things. If that doesn't work, use personal digs.

You are the type of poster I avoid on mumsnet. Instead of discussing the issue lets poke fun at posters IQ level etc

Why don't you go back and question every other poster that didn't approve of these events.

Actually wait till the morning and see what the media says. Whoever is not in favour of the actions of the police i suggest you urgently question thier intellignece and knowledge. If they don't cave in, dig some shit up on them and chuck that in thier face

BrownPaperTeddy · 28/09/2018 01:19

Police do not attend burglaries unless they are in progress (very worrying if it's happening right next door to you!!)

We were burgled last year. Discovered it when we got up in the morning. Police attended within 10 minutes of us calling. Sent SOCO round and CID. Another PC attended the following day. They were fantastic.

And they recovered our car and caught the burglars.

Want2bSupermum · 28/09/2018 01:21

Throughout all of this everyone has forgotten about the cashier. They they are doing their job and having to deal with these idiots who won't respect the rules set by the store manage that the cashier is forced to follow.

That poor cashier having to deal with such rude people. No one should have to deal with that while doing their job. The customers were extremely disrespectful.

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 28/09/2018 01:24

Ok. Let me re phrase. Some police forces around the UK will not attend burglaries unless in progress.

Maybe I caught them on a busy day. They came two whole days later. Who can blame them.

SoupDragon · 28/09/2018 07:12

No they don't!!! They didn't with me

You do understand that your experience is only your experience and not a blanket rule don’t you?

SoupDragon · 28/09/2018 07:14

If they edited it themselves, they would surely have removed the 'dead man' threats no?

They did, didn’t they?

SoupDragon · 28/09/2018 07:16

For a private company like Tesco to ask public employees(funded by taxpayers) to enforce their own silly policies is completely out of order

They didn’t. The man called the police officer over.

MadMum101 · 28/09/2018 07:30

If you'd actually listened to the video Soup, you'd know they didn't.

RudeZebra · 28/09/2018 07:38

Way past your bedtime. Your last post is full of cow dung. The police did not attend a burglary! Would u like to see a police report?

How can there be a police report if they didn't attend?

Maybe I caught them on a busy day. They came two whole days later. Who can blame them.

Eh? So they did attend? I really don't understand how you manage to contradict yourself with practically every post.
