Please tell me - Aibu?

DS Birthday next week he will be 12 and birthday party / sleepover planned for the weekend (Saturday afternoon to Sunday ).
FIL Birthday is on the Saturday and SIL has decided to arrange a party for him. They live over an hours drive away.
I have said to DH that he will have to go without me due to DS party
He thinks I am being selfish and should either a) re arrange DS party/ sleepover or b) leave DS and friends in the care of DD who is 18.
DD is perfectly sensible however I don't think that she should have responsibility for DS friends when we will be over an hour away from home.
AIIBU ??

Will your DH mention to his family that they haven't acknowledged your DS birthday?

dogandrunning · 07/10/2018 11:16

Nanny he did and came back with a card for DS saying happy birthday from everyone here which I assume includes both SIL's, nephews, cousins etc

He also came back with a bill for 'our third' of the party costs!

Fuck that!

I'd bin the bill.

MissEliza · 07/10/2018 14:38

Love your FIL's attitude!

dogandrunning · 07/10/2018 17:49

BewareofDragons I'd love to bin it but apparently DH has agreed to it without any discussion or without finding out how much his third would be
SIL said today that she needs it by the end of this month so that she can add it to her spending money for her trip to NYC

Blimey. She's a cheeky sod. I'd definitely bin her!

LittleOwl153 · 26/10/2018 17:32

I think I would deduct a present for dc1 from each of them from the bill!

dogandrunning · 27/10/2018 09:27

Littleowl - I wish I'd thought of that it's DS2's Birthday in a couple of weeks it'll be interesting to see if he receives a card or gift from any of them
