OH works out of town and has somehow become the company driver! New person started and told the boss that he has a bad back so can't get to work unless someone takes him(let's call new person Bob ).
My OH Lives in the same town so was roped into doing it everyday. He didn't mind at first till Bob admitted lying about bad back cos he didn't want to get the bus or train. He doesn't offer any money and just sits in the car on his phone or moans that the journey takes ages.
Now two more people have started and OH is having to drive them too. He's getting fed up of it and I get he's going that way anyway but no one has offered any money (even a little) . Surely 3 extra adults in the car would create more wear and tear.
OH spoke to his boss and said he's really not happy driving everyone and his boss told him that Bob said he would quit if he can't get a lift so OH needs to drive him. WTF!!!!?
I know it's not my problem but he's always moaning to me about it. I'm just amazed by Bob's entitlement (and also that the boss is feeding into it)

Thanks for the rehash. Bob is a big old CF for sure!

PolkaDoting · 29/10/2018 00:43

Christ your DP is a total wet lettuce if he agrees to this

TheSerenDipitY · 29/10/2018 06:04

your husband needs to go to his boss and request a company car and company fuel card, he also needs to be allowed to "clock on" from the moment CF 1 gets in the car and not "clock off" until cf's 1, 2 & 3 have left the car and if the boss says no he can ask "why not?" and when the boss says that costs too much money he can just smile and say "YES, YES IT DOES" and then tell him thats why i am no longer going to give these cheeky fuckers rides to and from work and also let him know in all the times he been forced to do this that "NOT ONCE HAVE THEY EVEN OFFERED PETROL MONEY! NOT ONCE" ( or said thanx)

Your DH needs a backbone

DiveBombingSeagull · 29/10/2018 07:11

I’m hoping your DH has ignored message and left a few minutes early to avoid Bob the Knob.

He shouldn’t be beholden to giving wberyone a lift.

ChasedByBees · 29/10/2018 07:28

Yep, he needs to go to the boss and tell them this is ending and that Bob was perfectly able to get the train.

Renster · 29/10/2018 10:04

We need an update, OP please! Don’t leave us hanging!

CoraPirbright · 29/10/2018 10:04

What happened this morning OP? Did Bob turn up?

If I were your dh I would totally be shopping Bob for being a lying git about his back.

timeisnotaline · 29/10/2018 10:05

Your dh is really a mug if he’s taken Bob the knob with his made up sore leg today.

MRSMARMITE3 · 29/10/2018 10:20

I've haven't heard but bob was saying yesterday he was going to hospital about his leg (!) Dh said he would take him Monday and Tuesday but not the rest of the week. I'll up date when he's home

What about the other two?

MRSMARMITE3 · 02/11/2018 11:26

One left cos he refused to take them (they used that in their email as one of the reasons - they had only just started) and the other is getting a train too

OP, I was in a job like this before. Not only was I expected to give them lifts to and from work, I was expected to drive to their home and pick them up. They would not meet me half way. The final straw was when I decided to stay with my auntie for a week (she lives in a different town) and my manager said she would prefer if I stayed at home during the week as the other staff couldn't get to work.

I ended up putting in a formal grievance as it was starting to affect my personal life.

It is not your partners responsibility to get people to and from work, they are adults and if they can't get there via public transport they shouldn't have accepted the job offer in the first place.
