Many years ago , Julie Bindel wrote this article saying that rape may as well be legal in this country.

Today I read the following article which will send a chill through anyone who has been a victim of this horrific crime...

This thread for some reason has come at the right time for me.
I was raped on Wednesday night, I haven't slept since Tuesday night
Police women who turned up at my house were truely amazing so were the women who medically examined me.
Soco came and then 2 men cross examined me, I don't want to go into detail but they kept on at me because I couldn't remember exactly which act took place when, kept asking me why my memory was so bad and was I taking any drugs that would I affect my memory.

I feel dirty and they don't seem to believe me. This is why I don't think I will take things further.

Flowers Youdontbelieve I'm so sorry. It is entirely up to you what you do. It's hell, isn't it.

I was raped when I was a teenager. My attacker gave me gonnorhea. I had to go to a VD clinic ( as it was called in the 80s). No professional questioned whi I as an underage girl had this. He told me he'd kill me if I told anyone about it. I found out some years later, he'd gone to prison for raping a 13 year old. I couldn't have reported it as I was too scared and I know I would have been blamed for it. I couldn't go near men for years as a result and its affected me my whole life. Never got married, never had kids, rarely orgasm and have never had a smear test as was so traumatised by having to go to that clinic. That was in the eighties and sadly things haven't improved for women and girls...

It’s so so depressing. Male violence generally is an epidemic. I remember my mum remarking when I was about 15 (so 25 years ago) that of women killed men at the rate they kill women we’d all be locked up as a precaution.
