How long should a step-baby wait to meet its new baby sibling? Assuming baby and Mother are well and hospital/babies home is within 30 minutes of where the older sibling lives and can be dropped off by another family member?

I almost died giving birth for example - I'd say that's much worse than a common or garden illness and is most certainly my medically related

I feel sorry for this stepmum. Hung drawn and quarter on MN and blissfully unaware.

None of that would matter if you’re a stepparent though. You nearly dying means naff all if there is a stepchild involved. Let this thread be a huge deterrent!

Well this thread escalated quickly....ShockGrin

@Bluelady you're right, it's nothing like any other medical procedure as usually after a procedure you'd be told to rest for 2-6 weeks. For something as traumatic on your body as childbirth it would be at least 6 weeks yet mums get up and carry on with a coupe of hours of being stitched up with a few paracetamol for luck. It may be "natural" but if mine had been allowed to be fully natural I'd be dead. I'm very much not alone in that story.

Anyway, op needs to outwardly show support so ds doesn't feel left out and explain that childbirth is different for everyone. Get teen to call df and say he's desperate to meet the baby.

You'll never know what happened as very few women are going to say to their dh's ex wife all the gory details.

funinthesun18 · 25/09/2018 18:19

Yes, most people IRL seem to have perfectly normal harmonious step-families with none of this angst.

Thankfully I don’t post on here when I have a stepparenting question. Most of the comments will be complete garbage like this thread for example.
Take it all with a pinch of salt and carry on with your NORMAL life.

Well quite @funinthesun18 no doubt as I lay half alive and bleeding the hypothetical stepchild must see the baby that moment or I will have forever scarred them 🙄

flamingofridays · 25/09/2018 18:34

john whats your problem? This thread is about childbirth! Why shouldn't she mention her experience?

CosmicCanary · 25/09/2018 18:37

Hey John I have have no problem in calling you names.

Stop acting like an arsehole.

Johndoe10 · 25/09/2018 18:37

No th thread is about a young lad wanting to see his new baby sibling and his dad hasn’t been in contact much.

Sorry to disappoint you. But it really isn’t about you ladies.

Johndoe10 · 25/09/2018 18:38

Sacred birth Grin

GunpowderGelatine · 25/09/2018 18:40

God I bet you remind every one of that daily

That's just plain nasty John. No need

Bluelady · 25/09/2018 18:40

So this has now turned into a pissing contest for the worst birth story. I'm out. I hope to God nobody about to have their first baby finds this thread.

funinthesun18 · 25/09/2018 18:44

No th thread is about a young lad wanting to see his new baby sibling and his dad hasn’t been in contact much.

And how did the new baby sibling come in to the world then? Childbirth or just by magic?

Lookatyourwatchnow · 25/09/2018 18:44

Oh good, @Bluelady is leaving the thread. @Johndoe10, it would be great if you could quickly follow her.

GunpowderGelatine · 25/09/2018 18:44

Do you usually make fun of people's near death experiences @Johndoe10 ? Would you say the same to someone who had a car accident?

For your information I needed 2 blood transfusions, a long hospital stay, a huge amount of stitches, physiotherapist for a year afterwards, and quite severe PND, of which I'm still recovering from, as a result of my birth. So I hope you're pleased having a little chortle to yourself about it. What a nasty person you are.

AssignedNorthernAtBirth · 25/09/2018 18:46

Well you did feel the need to make an absolutely fucking asinine post about women's bodies being designed to give birth and it not being anything like being ill. That sort of stupid requires immediate correction.

Hopefully OP has located a grip by now.

flamingofridays · 25/09/2018 18:48

So what if pregnant ladies read this thread? It can and does happen. All this ladies are still alive! Better to be aware that something could happen and be prepared than believe all the "childbirth is easy women do it every day your body is designed for this" shite that others are peddaling.

GunpowderGelatine · 25/09/2018 18:51

Sorry to disappoint you. But it really isn’t about you ladies

But it is about a woman's right to privacy after giving birth. Dearest stepson come third I'm afraid. Some feminist you are

ChiaraRimini · 25/09/2018 18:51

As the mother of two teenage boys, I think they would not be bothered in the slightest about having to wait a few days to see a new half sibling. It's not like they can take him/her out for a game of football. This is all about the OP finding a stick to beat her ex and his new P with over some imaginary slight and is frankly pathetic. Assuming the baby is not dangerously ill there is no hurry at all. The new parents probably want a bit of space with the new baby and that's fine.
