To think it's not possible to lose 10 stone at home with no help?

Is it?

OP posts:
Redglitter · 24/09/2018 22:03

Yes it definitely is possible

Suebnm · 24/09/2018 22:03

Yes it's entirely possible.

HollowTalk · 24/09/2018 22:03

It must be really difficult to do it that way. I think the problem is looking at it as 10 stone. Would it be better to look at losing a stone first, then looking at another stone? Some problems seem so insurmountable, but that first stone is much more manageable. There are a few threads on here where people have a lot to lose - would you join in on one of those?

PestymcPestFace · 24/09/2018 22:04

Depends what you define as help. If it is you losing the weight, you have already asked mumsnet for help. If it is someone else, how do you know they have no help.

Fucksgiven · 24/09/2018 22:04

What sort of help would be helpful? (not well worded but you know what I mean)

exonthefeet · 24/09/2018 22:05

What I meant by no help was no slimming club or something like that.

I've been trying to lose around 5 stone for 5 years but instead have managed to gain another 5 Hmm

I lost 6 and a half stones in 18 months so I imagine 10 is manageable.

Oysterbabe · 24/09/2018 22:07

Yes it's possible but very tough. You just have to be strict and count calories.

Amanduh · 24/09/2018 22:09

My dad has just done it.

PestymcPestFace · 24/09/2018 22:10

You can lose weight without a slimming club. The problem is finding a sustainable way that works for you. There are lots of choices but ultimately it is down to you (you can get lots of help and support to supplement you).

DemocracyDiesInDarkness · 24/09/2018 22:13

My friend has lost 10 stone over the last 15 months. Strict WW diet, and cycles every day. It's bloody amazing!

How purpleflower!?

bridgetreilly · 24/09/2018 22:17

Try the Blood Sugar Diet, OP. It's very motivating, and easy to stick to. I did find it easier doing it with a friend, but the board on Mumsnet is also good and supportive.

TeacupTattoo · 24/09/2018 22:19

I did. I lost 115lbs at home on my own over 2.5years. I firstly followed the Dukan diet and then slowly adapted it to add in bits that made it easier for me long-term. It has to be the right time for you though, it sounds like this might be it?

HollowTalk · 24/09/2018 22:21

That's incredible, @TeacupTattoo. How do you feel now?

noeffingidea · 24/09/2018 22:22

I've lost 4 stone at home by myself, OP, and aiming to lose at least another stone, possibly even more. So I would say it is possible. There are a lot of online resources to help you, and it's a matter of finding what suits you.

HollowTalk · 24/09/2018 22:22

I believe that when most people return to a slimming club, they are heavier than they were when they first started going to slimming clubs.

PurpleFlower1983 · 24/09/2018 22:22

Well it’s only 5-6lbs a month in reality. I lost the first 3 very quickly though. Cutting the calories and dance aerobics/jogging.

PurpleFlower1983 · 24/09/2018 22:23

I kept mine off for about 6 years but have gained some back as I’ve got older!

ShirleyPhallus · 24/09/2018 22:23

It should be easier, in theory. If you’re 10 stone overweight then even a small reduction in what you’re eating should mean you lose some weight

HollowTalk · 24/09/2018 22:26

What is it that's wrong with your diet and lifestyle at the moment, OP? If you could cut out one thing, what would it be?

A580Hojas · 24/09/2018 22:27

It is possible. There's a long running thread on here for people with 10 stone or more to lose (or maybe it's 100lb) but anyway lots of the folk on there have had incredible success. I'm sure the group support has a lot to do with it. I'll see if I can find a link for you, hang on ...

Johndoe10 · 24/09/2018 22:28

I found that I always put on the weight after I lost it at slimming clubs. They don’t really tackle healthy eating properly. I lived SW as there was lots of treats I could have and large plate fulls of food but in reality it was those I had to deal with. ........................................................................I cut out dairy, (which helped massively) trainee myself to eat smaller meals, cut out bread, tried to eat more of a plant based diet and switch the alcohol I used to drink. 80% of losing weight is diet. Low cal does work but also the type of food your eating. My massive boobs went down v.quick after cutting out dairy Grin

Chesterfieldsofa · 24/09/2018 22:28

It should be easier, in theory. If you’re 10 stone overweight then even a small reduction in what you’re eating should mean you lose some weight You're right, it's just the same as anorexia, just increase your food intake and put on some weight Hmm
