Just wondering why?

@worridmum it’s actually theorised that most early hominids were vegetarian and some were opportunistic scavengers for meat.

If you think about it, we’d have had to have gotten pretty smart even before we got to the point of catching and killing animals. We’d have had to learn to make tools, use tools, communicate (for group hunting), teach others to use tools, make fire, understand that putting animal bodies in fire makes them edible etc. To have gotten smart enough to understand this, which is well beyond any other animals capability, something must have been fuelling our brain- plants.

Either way we’re now very capable of living on plants and we have a wide variety available to ensure all of our nutritional needs are met.

Boring, no one cares

kikisparks · 23/09/2018 20:21

@Ohluckyme why post in the thread then? If you really don’t care just scroll past.

Ohluckyme · 23/09/2018 20:46

kikisparks I meant other people’s diets are boring and no one really cares! I’m a lifelong veggie and no one gives a toss or has ever been funny with me about it.

kikisparks · 23/09/2018 21:16

Ah I see yeah that makes sense!

abacucat · 23/09/2018 22:36

kiki It is theorised that fish was an essential food to enable our brains over time to evolve to be more complex.

'I can't eat your stuff I'm not vegan'

Well that person is simply stupid.

Rainbunny · 24/09/2018 00:56

Well I'm not vegan but I am vegetarian and I find that some people automatically assume I must judge them negatively for eating meat and therefore are snarky about my food choices.

My inlaws equate veganism/vegetarianism with liberalism and leftwing politics so they dislike them on that basis (ironically I'm far easier to cook for than my fussy MIL who hates all seasonings, herbs, garlic, vegetables etc...)

delphguelph · 24/09/2018 01:05

I'm probably vegan 30% of the time : does that count?

Yes but it took that leap didn't it? Meat meant evolution. Otherwise we'd probably still be only one slight step ahead of the monkeys.

Interesting

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/09/2018 01:22

Tbf I’m not sure that anyone gives a flying fuck

kikisparks · 24/09/2018 07:08

ecosalon.com/uh-oh-paleo-were-ancestors-vegan/

Who knows. I don’t mind what our ancestors did as they aren’t my role models for how to live today.

NutElla5x · 24/09/2018 08:07

@NutElla5x but it doesn’t mean more meat and cheese for you because that’s not how supply and demand works

Damn! .

Sleepykate · 24/09/2018 09:28

I find it to be totally the other way round. I know a vegan couple who are truly horrible - spiteful, rude, condescending, obnoxious. They not only aggressively shove their viewpoints at other people but they also actively attack people and humiliate them or laugh in their faces (for example, people who are veggie but not vegan, or people who say they love animals/their pet but aren't vegan). I know this doesn't represent all vegans but these are the ones I've met
