Macron's behaviour is despicable Part two

The thread was closed as it has exceeded 1000 posts.

I have reopened another one in hope that we will be able to discuss with honesty the Salzburg summit, both sides of the brexit debate and with cordiality. This is not a place for venting. Please do that elsewhere. This is a place for polite debate and conversation.

Around dinner tables and on the touch lines we are talking about the future of the brexit deal, if there is a future with the EU or not and what the options are for us now.

I voted to remain, and I am unhappy with the impasse. I had expected and hoped for progress. It did not happen.

Macron descended into name calling, and Tusk posted jokes and photos that are not in the least bit funny about a diabetic person. It was unsettling and disturbing to see how disrespectful they were to our PM TM. So we consider where we are this morning.

Thoughts?

According to the press I read (Aljazeera tend to give less political bias to their reporting than the British press IMO) this is what Macron said:

["Those who explain that we can easily live without Europe, that everything is going to be alright, and that it's going to bring a lot of money home are liars," Macron said.

"It's even more true since they left the day after so as not to have to deal with it," he added, referring to top Brexit proponents.]

I can't see anything wrong with what he said, it certainly isn't untrue.

Plus, they have been telling TM for weeks that Chequers was unacceptable yet she still went there with the same proposal.

She wasted their time just as she has wasted the last two years and three months.

Lonelycrab · 23/09/2018 15:58

Donny, with your half dozen posts after joining a week ago....

You voted remain, but now have changed your mind to leave?

Course you did.

surferjet · 23/09/2018 15:59

Same old song, still boring. At least the last one could vaguely spell

Why do you have to be so insulting ? Why pick on a posters spelling? It’s a personal attack and against site rules.

Ucantpo1ishaturd · 23/09/2018 16:08

Hey Folks have changed my Username as last time I looked I was Female! Most of you sound bitter old Hags, i did actually vote remain but if it all goes tits up we’ll be off to our Bungalow in the Charente where will you be 😂.

BadderWolf · 23/09/2018 16:11

Who were you before, anyway? Why don't I care? 😂

1tisILeClerc · 23/09/2018 16:12

Well Donnyduds is wrong on every account, must be a true 'leaver'.

I hope that your French is good and that you can prove residency, income and exercising treaty rights before the 29th March otherwise you might hit a spot of bother with that plan.

prettybird · 23/09/2018 16:13

You voted Remain.

To use a good Scottish expression, "Aye Right" Grin

Some of us are stuck in the UK without escape routes, so really do care about what happens to the nation as a result of Brexit. My personal hope of escape route is Scottish Independence - which a hard Brexit will help bring forward Smile. But I don't want it to happen that way, because, contrary to you thinking that we are bitter old hags , I don't want it to come about that way because the collateral damage would hurt the poorest and most vulnerable in England the most. Sad

Fontrieu · 23/09/2018 16:14

Oh, I forgot Healthcare.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 23/09/2018 16:15

Grin

Well his/her English isn't much to write home about so I wouldn't hold out much hope for the French.

pointythings · 23/09/2018 16:25

Am I a bitter old hag? Let's see...

In the Maiden/Mother/Hag divide I am probably borderline, so I'll settle for proto-Hag.
I'm 50 - so old-ish.
Am I bitter about the shitshow that is Brexit? Hell yeah.

So I'm in. Gin

And why am I so mean to the newcomer? I dunno, surfer. Maybe the same reason why you feel the need to tell my my thoughts don't matter.

pointythings · 23/09/2018 16:26

Oh Ethel don't you know talking about someone's use of language is mean and not allowed on Mumsnet???

Mookatron · 23/09/2018 16:31

I'm a bitter old hag - happy to be so. I considerate separate from my desire not to be stranded on an island with illiterate liars though.

Mookatron · 23/09/2018 16:33

Ha! I mean consider it, though perhaps phonetic spelling is the best way to go in your case.

surferjet · 23/09/2018 16:41

I’m a bit embarrassed for you then.
Middle aged women picking on other ( probably much younger ) women’s spelling.
I bet you call yourselves feminists too.

Mookatron · 23/09/2018 16:45

Surferjet, I disagree with a lot of what you've said on this post. But you can't possibly agree that Donny/whatever's posts made sense or were polite? If somebody were actually arguing using any facts or salient points but had terrible spelling I wouldn't care. But this person is just spewing bile. Spelled wrong.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 23/09/2018 16:46

Yeah because so many young women have bungalows in the Charente they think they can bugger off to when Brexit goes tits up.

BadderWolf · 23/09/2018 16:50

I’m a bit embarrassed for you then oh mate, you don't have enough embarrassment to cover your own insulting comments...better not spread it about too much.

Im not 50 yet but I am a feminist. And I don't believe in xenophobic bullshit, breaking up the UK, ignoring basic economics, jeopardising Irish peace or fucking the kids' futures up either. Can I get an "old hag" upgrade please? Grin

pointythings · 23/09/2018 16:50

surferjet is just defending a fellow Leaver. Let's all be nice to her.

Or not... donny started the hostilities by going straight in with the 'Remoaners' and 'You lost, get over it' stuff. As ye sow, so shall ye reap.

pointythings · 23/09/2018 16:52

Badder here you go! Wear it with pride.

Macron's behaviour is despicable Part two
surferjet · 23/09/2018 16:53

I play the ball not the man.
I take no notice of spelling / grammar because in all the years I’ve been on MN I’ve never come across a post I couldn’t read or understand what they were saying.,
Thing is, & what I always try to remember, some people are dyslexic, not particularly well educated though no fault of their own, English might not be their 1st language, lots of reasons why posts might not be perfectly written, I’d never put someone down like that. It’s cruel.
But you carry on trying to big yourselves up by putting others down.

BadderWolf · 23/09/2018 16:54

pointythings Grin thank you. There's a joke about good spell -ing dying to get out of that, I'm sure.

pointythings · 23/09/2018 16:56

We'll have to agree to differ then. To my mind if someone comes on here and launches straight into name calling, they aren't going to get the soft soap treatment. This is AIBU.

Respect has to be earned. English isn't my first language either, but at least I make the effort to get it right if I'm going to disagree with someone.

Moussemoose · 23/09/2018 16:56

Unfortunately Surfer there are no balls to play.

Metaphorical or otherwise.

prettybird · 23/09/2018 16:58

I'm an old hag and proud of it ds would definitely agree Wink. I'll add it to my "traitor" soubriquet Grin
