to think our children will not forgive us if we don't sort Brexit out

DFiL voted Leave. He's not thick and he had his reasons but, to be frank, he's 80 and not going to have to live with the consequences long term. Especially, if the NHS don't manage to stockpile his multiple medications in the event of a No Deal.

AIBU to think we all need to kick up an almighty stink to ensure that our Government makes a deal that will protect our children's futures - even if that means remaining. Jacob Rees Mogg and his ERG buddies predict it could be 50 years for the UK to see the benefits of leaving the EU. That's too late for my DD.

Austerity has damaged enough lives, we can't let Brexit do more harm. It's no good shrugging and saying "Leave won". If this isn't sorted out there will be no winners.

Well clearly there is no point in continuing this discussion. There is a growing Italexit movement in Italy. However they are European. Like us. By definition.

Japanese people are also East Asian. Also by definition.

I am fine with being European anyway. I love being European.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 20/09/2018 22:14

Yes our British politicians

Well judging by current performance, being British doesn't appear to have given them any special ability to come up with a solution to the problem.

CiderBrains · 20/09/2018 22:14

I have to agree that if half the country truly felt "at one" with Europe because we are all the same then the result wouldn't have been what it was.

We are much more "at one" with the US.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 20/09/2018 22:15

Agree with other posters - we are closer to the Americans than Europeans

Speak for yourself. You certainly don't get to speak for me.

woman11017 · 20/09/2018 22:15

There are historical and polictical reasons for US links, but not relevant now.

In fact it contradicts, I presume, your pride in these isles?

'No deal' destroys us and our kids. And that's just a fact.

bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 22:16

So, @10degreestostarboard - is NI part of the UK or isn't it?

BlitheringIdiots · 20/09/2018 22:17

Will do wonders for my diet .....

recluse · 20/09/2018 22:17

We are much more "at one" with the US.

That special relationship does not exist.

It's not just about historical or political links to the US, our modern culture is far closer and alike to the US than Europe.

10degreestostarboard · 20/09/2018 22:18

Motherofdragons

That’s the spirit - don’t bother engaging with the opposition! Much better to have a mutually beneficial echo chamber lamenting your lost ‘European’ heritage and mobile phone roaming privileges...

And you wonder why you lost the referendum

bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 22:19

@BlitheringIdiots - a shitty diet isn't supplemented by fat stores on your body - if that is what you are referring to. You will just get ill more quickly if you are overweight in the first place.

10degreestostarboard · 20/09/2018 22:21

Bellinsurge

Ni has a right to national self determination like any other people

I would rather they stayed British but I’m not hard over about it. A bit like the Scottish who, had they been able to afford to go solo, probably would have left the uk by now

bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 22:22

@10degreestostarboard - speaking of engaging with people who disagree with you .... do you consider NI part of the UK? If you do, please suggest a solution to the border problem.

CiderBrains · 20/09/2018 22:23

So it's perfectly okay to be so anti US here? Forgot Trump, who's an idiot, but why so anti US?

bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 22:24

So if they have a right to self determination in NI and the majority want to stay in the UK, what do we do about the Irish border?

10degreestostarboard · 20/09/2018 22:24

Bellinsurge

You do love your circular arguments don’t you.

See upthread for my views

bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 22:24

No. I can't be arsed. Indulge me.

CiderBrains · 20/09/2018 22:25

They'll have to have a border

10degreestostarboard · 20/09/2018 22:25

Bellinsurge

The border becomes the uk border

In the same way they have a right to self determination they also have to abide by our rules (our British rules) if they want to stay in our own uk club

bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 22:26

And you do know why it's a problem to have a border, don't you?

recluse · 20/09/2018 22:26

Not anti US as such, there are many things within their society, culture and politics that I would hope our country would not emulate however.
