To call the police about creepy car on street

Hi all,

Hoping there's someone up who can make me feel a little better. Basically for the last few nights a black Mercedes has been pulling up on the street with a direct view into my upstairs window (full length, curtains always open). Always after midnight. It sits there for around an hour sometimes more, sidelights on and no interior lights (occupants not even having phone screens on which light their faces...) but definitely people inside.

When this happened a few nights ago I saw the reflection of something pointed at my house as a car drove past - looks like a camera lens or similar. I called the police, they sent someone to drive by but they left without speaking to the car. 20 minutes ish later someone left the car, walked across the car park behind my house to another street. The car pulled off a little later.

I assumed it was a couples liaison or something and that I was imagining the lens reflection. It's been here for the last couple nights but I ignored it. Tonight I saw the reflection of something again and watched the drivers side occupant scratch their face clearly holding something and body positioned towards my house. Called police again and shut my curtains. Around 5 minutes later the car pulled away.

Am I being paranoid, or am I being watched?! Sitting here telling myself both things alternately. I live alone with my 3 year old daughter for context.

@BlueJava they aren't police because she has rung the police several times and she only lived with her child. I was advise her to approach them, leave it to the police to sort out

ar44455 · 22/09/2018 08:14

Wouldn't **

JLG19 · 22/09/2018 08:26

I'm hoping that no news is good news, and the op had a lovely calm night's sleep.

Scrumptiousbears · 22/09/2018 08:31

Drug dealing. Not all dealers deal to people from the car. These people work is tiers. Chances are they are dripping off a load of drugs for the minions to split and sell on their behalf. Reason for not screen light is the type of phone they are using don't light up like you smartphones.

lexi727 · 22/09/2018 10:52

Is everything okay OP? X

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/09/2018 12:30

Hoping OP is ok & that no news is indeed good news

ar44455 · 22/09/2018 17:36

@Scrumptiousbears drug dealers wouldn't go to the same place at the same time every night !

didyouseetheflaresinthesky · 22/09/2018 20:33

Everything ok, OP? Are you alright?

LittleRen · 22/09/2018 20:42

Totally invested in this thread... where are you OP??

Singingitoverandoverandover · 22/09/2018 20:46

MarchSurprise · 22/09/2018 20:52

Just read this full thread and freaked myself out. Hope everything is ok OP!

GirlsBlouse17 · 22/09/2018 20:59

Hope everything is okay OP

Shopgirl1 · 22/09/2018 21:04

I can understand you must be very worried. Hope the police have spoken to them now and they stay away.

Ratbagcatbag · 22/09/2018 21:16

On my own with me and my 5 year old. Not the best thread to read. I'm totally paranoid now and I haven't got any random cars parking on the street.

AHoleInTheWorld · 22/09/2018 21:22

It could be a private investigator but not necessarily looking at you.

It does sound creepy and I'd keep my curtains shut.

Crunchymum · 22/09/2018 22:28

No update OP?.

sianais · 22/09/2018 22:44

Hi all! I had a phone call from the police a few minutes ago and all is well. They've done as previous posters suggested they would and dug into the owner of the car etc- turns out the lady is a carer who works in the local area. No explanation for the behaviour but they don't think it's suspicious which is great. I can now relax at night and become the person who whinges about their inconsiderate parking instead of worrying I'm being stalked! Smile

Thanks all for your company during these scary nights. xx

Glad it all got sorted !!
But why would a carer be doing that???

ohfourfoxache · 22/09/2018 22:50

Bloody hell I’m so glad Thanks

Menolly · 22/09/2018 22:51

hm, I thought you were being paranoid up to blocking the car park entrance, that does sound very deliberate. Has the car turned up at all while DD is away?

DS' dad got his friend to watch me to check I wasn't bringing random men home while DS was there. Which was annoying and controlling but a lot less creepy than the reasons I was imagining at least, it stopped as soon as the police had a word.

IABURQO · 22/09/2018 22:51

Did the police check it was a woman driving the car? And that she works nights?

sianais · 22/09/2018 23:17

No sign of them last night, I went to bed at 1:15. No sign of them so far tonight but it would be super early. No they didn't check I don't think, they got this info from stuff they have held on the car by the sounds of things. I don't think it explains the weird behaviour - as I've said before, you don't drop colleagues streets away from their house, even more so if it's a client.

And BLOODY HELL just heard the loudest bang ever and jumped a mile while typing reply!!!!

Hope everything is ok OP.

sianais · 22/09/2018 23:20

Just re-listened to the voicemail- "Regarding yesterday's call- we have run the plates through system, registered to a lady who's registered on google as a community carer... we believe 'carer is parking her car to care for a client'"- that isn't what's happening. I have NEVER seen a woman get out of the car, the car is dropping a passenger off.

mumof06darlings · 22/09/2018 23:22

Hi op, I don't know if I believe that but all they have done is found out who ownes the car and that she works in the area. It could be any person borrowing her car getting up to no good. If it persists, I think I would get back onto the police again when the car comes back and get them to physically check it out to be certain.
