I don't think it's a trick mimi but it could be naive.

Coons is saying Flake has the word of other Senators that they support the move but the Dems seem more relived they have bridged the deep partisan divisions. This was going to the floor anyway, this is just another door left open.

Trump has been quoted as being v relaxed about the whole thing.

Murkowski has said she supports Flake in wanting a delay to do further enquiries.

I think pro-Kavanaugh folks dumping on Flake are seriously underestimating how savvy a move that was. He basically neutered Ds' central talking point. If the FBI finds nothing new (as is likely), Collins, Murkowski, and Manchin are unquestionably more likely to vote yes.

Damned if I didn't have a zillion interruptions! Why is it that when you want to concentrate on something important everyone and their mother needs you to do something!

As I've been able to piece it together (as news sources are assuming viewers are already in the know), Kavanaugh was approved by Committee and his nomination will advance to the Senate, but Flake (and others?) is promising there will be a limited-in-scope investigation by the FBI before a full vote is taken. Meanwhile Flake doesn't have the authority to make such a promise and Yertle the Turtle (McConnell) can shout "HA! Fooled ya!!!" and call for a full vote immediately.

Do I have my facts straight?
