To be sick and tired of the fucking menopause?

I'm in bed. Feel wide awake, alternatively hot then cold. I've got leg cramps, greasy hair (wtaf), I feel really grumpy. Can't relax. I know ill wake up again in about 3 hours, drenched in sweat with restless legs. It's totally shit.

My main symptoms were the leg pain and weight gain. I have a disabled son so haven’t slept well for 12 years. I dealt with the weight gain with a drastic VLCD that seem to take away other symptoms. I am over two years into menopause but now do not know if I am one of the lucky ones or the amount of soya I am taking is helping. I am now eating a vegan style diet one day and the next day four soya shakes. I have no idea if I am wasting my time but to scared to stop.

PenelopeShitStop · 25/09/2018 10:08

michelle69 Recent NICE guidelines on the improved treatment of perimenopause systems advises GP to not bother with blood tests, and to diagnose by the patient's actual symptoms. See another, better informed GP.

Has anyone else's shape changed? I am on HRT but I have gained 10lbs that will not budge, and my torso is now barrell shaped. But my thighs and bum have almost disappeared?

Skin, hair, nails and 'downstairs' all absolutely fine though, and libido back to being very healthy for at least half the month. Infact I almost demanded sex on Saturday Blush though DH was more than happy to oblige.

Miladymilord · 25/09/2018 10:17

my shape was changing at 52 with no hrt to exactly what you describe

I hope my libido comes back

I have a massive spare tyre, and I'm 2 and a half stone overweight. I eat when I'm unhappy which is all the time so no idea how to lose it.

theredjellybean · 25/09/2018 15:27

I weigh less than before perimenpause but am fatter round middle and back... Wtaf... It's so unfair.
Has hrt helped anyone shift the middle fat?

Elphame · 25/09/2018 16:15

I've lost almost 2 st since I started HRT and have my old hourglass shape back. Prior to taking it I was in so much joint and muscle pain I had to be helped to stand up and the weight just crept on. Now I weigh the same as I have for the last 20 years.

BestIsWest · 25/09/2018 17:51

Fat middle and back here too. Always been a pear but gained about 2stone in 5he last 18 months. Hoping that once the HRT kicks in I will have some motivation to do something about it.

My nails are great though.

yetmorecrap · 25/09/2018 23:30

Has anyone mentioned chronic itching down below? I have found that was my main symptom but seems to be one no one mentions, but I casually brought it up with someone and they said they had the same too but didn't seem mentionable in polite company, worse at night.

MichelleC69 · 26/09/2018 08:20

@yetmorecrap YES! WTF is that about?!

Miladymilord · 26/09/2018 10:11

I think I am sleeping better. My head feels a bit clearer anyway.

I'm still hating takign the pills though for some reason.

Update for anyone who is interested, doc's have prescribed a mild anti-depressant in the interim to help me sleep (and make me a bit less crazy) plus full bloods to determine cause and future treatment. Feeling positive about that outcome. Thanks so much to the OP this post has enlightened me no end, was feeling like I was the only one going through this!

Miladymilord · 26/09/2018 10:58

Glad to hear you are feeling more positive michelle. Report back on progress!!

VanillaSugary · 27/09/2018 04:07

Morning all! Having a bit of a hot moment and guess what - it's 4am!

MadamBatty · 27/09/2018 06:00

Hi @Vanilla, I’m awake from 4 too. So very hot. Off to my exercise class to try work it off

fishhavefeelingstoo · 27/09/2018 20:05

How's everyone?

I saw my gp today, she's prescribing hrt but checking dosage by email with the menopause clinic because I asked for oestrogen gel and progesterone pessaries as recommended by a friend as the most natural and gentle hrt.

Can't wait to try it, can't stand feeling like this.

fishhavefeelingstoo · 27/09/2018 20:06

sorry forgot to say I've posted before but name changed.

Miladymilord · 27/09/2018 21:59

Day 5 - a couple of very mild hot flushes. I don't think that I feel that much different - although I am in quite a good mood.

OP posts:
fishhavefeelingstoo · 28/09/2018 09:59

Sounds like it's helping with the flushes at least. Maybe it takes a bit longer to help with your mood.

I hit another low last night, only 3.5 hours sleep. Don't know how I'm going to get through the day.

Miladymilord · 28/09/2018 10:01

Hot flushes have definitely reduced - even in a jumper in a car with the heating on Shock

I can't stop peeing though! Omg intense peeing. At least twice a night, and tons, like a horse!

MichelleC69 · 28/09/2018 12:05

For those of you suffering with lack of sleep, I've been prescribed Amitriptyline once a day until my bloods are done - helps with your mood and sleep patterns. Two days in and OMG am I sleeping!! Def worth a try and apparently not addictive.

PeridotCricket · 28/09/2018 13:47

Buying a wool duvet helped me sleep better. I find it regulates my temperature better. And the HRT too.

ILoveAllRainbows · 28/09/2018 14:33

I'm 52 and I think that I had my first hot flush last night. I woke up at just after 4pm feeling wet. It was mainly the top of my tshirt which was wet but it wasn't so wet that I had to change it.

I then laid awake listening to the radio for a couple of hours before I drifted off to sleep.

Today, I've just felt hot but no hot flushes as such.

I also have a wool duvet, but I obvoiusly can't compare it to a non-wool one to see if it is better.
