To wonder how many of your children sleep with day clothes on?

I’ll admit sometimes DD 3 will be put to bed in her day clothes if she’s had a new set on not long before bed and we’ve gone out, I’ll leave her asleep rather than wake her. Is it really that terrible? If they’re clean and comfy then surely it’s ok? I know it’s not “proper” just wondered how many of you do the same sometimes ?

Us too Felix.

Particularly memorable was ensuring the clothes under a sleeping bag were suitable for nursery and then simply popping on trousers or leggings and they were good to go. Child was comfy. Child did not smell.

BrickByBrick · 13/09/2018 22:27

DD2 does - She won't wear normal pj trousers and wears normal leggings, tonight she has her pj top on and the leggings from after school (this set has legging style trousers)

Battles and Wars and all that - just some fights aren't worth having, it all gets changed in the morning.

DS often does as well, he has autism and I am generally happy that he has something on - beggars can't be choosers with him.

The eldest is practising to be a proper teenager and just stays in her pjs all day.

I rock at this mothering lark.

Brokenheadphones · 13/09/2018 22:27

My teen is a bugger for this. Like someone above she does have sensory issues.

Choosegopse · 13/09/2018 22:27

DC1 never does this but DC2 does it every day! Can’t see a problem.

NotTheFordType · 13/09/2018 22:28

Oh and if I had ever sent my son to bed in the same clothes he was wearing during the day I think I'd have fucking... I don't know but it would have been bad.

Somerville · 13/09/2018 22:28

Hell yes have I not undressed a child who has fallen asleep in the evening.
Don’t stress about it. Honestly.

NotTheFordType · 13/09/2018 22:29

I WENT TO TESCO EXPRESS TONIGHT
A WOMAN WALKED IN WEARING HER PJS

Creeper8 · 13/09/2018 22:29

mine currently are. non issue to me.

MarthasGinYard · 13/09/2018 22:30

Never dc is 8

Notcontent · 13/09/2018 22:30

No, never, but dd has always had a bath or shower before bed, so it has never come up as an option!!

londonrach · 13/09/2018 22:31

No. never even crossed my mind that anyone would until you mentioned it op. Certainly none of dd friends do or my dsis dc or friends. Or not been admitted by mums

LeakyLoftHatch · 13/09/2018 22:31

Yep, one of mine often sleeps in her clothes. As a pp mentioned, she's warm and happy at bedtime, and I really cant see the point of a battle. What's the harm?

MarthasGinYard · 13/09/2018 22:32

Always bath here to

Just always part of bedtime routine even now.

So wouldn't re dress in clothes

CoolCarrie · 13/09/2018 22:33

Not school clothes, but yes ds has crashed out dressed, it’s no big deal as the stuff will get washed next day anyway.

kaytee87 · 13/09/2018 22:33

No, I always bath my toddler, wash his hair and brush his teeth then into pjs.

If they're clean and comfortable then it doesn't really matter. The thing that would bother me most would be potentially skipping brushing teeth:

arethereanyleftatall · 13/09/2018 22:34

We do it occasionally.
Say we're going on holiday at 6am in the morning. Put the girls to bed the night before in leggings and tshirt, so can just pop them straight in the car and go.

hobblesma · 13/09/2018 22:34

2 of mine do this quite frequently. Both autistic, both with sensory issues. It doesn't bother me. It's not detrimental to their wellbeing. Non issue.

vanillapieandicecream · 13/09/2018 22:34

My threenager sometimes wants to sleep in day clothes, not pjs. Does that count?

hobblesma · 13/09/2018 22:35

How does not changing into pyjamas equate to not cleaning teeth?

BrickByBrick · 13/09/2018 22:35

I rarely discuss my children's dressing habits with anyone else - well maybe ds and that is generally with an eye roll and comments about taking all his clothes off.

I took dd to the pet shop in her pj's the other day, we popped in on the way home from swimming lessons.

StuckInTheMiddleWithJude · 13/09/2018 22:35

More likely to get dd 2 changed into her pjs and a fresh nappy before the journey home if it's around bedtime and I think she'll fall asleep.

I'd probably just slip her bottoms/dress off whilst she were asleep for comfort overnight.

dinosaurkisses · 13/09/2018 22:35

No, I haven’t. I’m pretty laid back but it’s a real stickler for me- I wear fresh pjs every night myself in a bid to maximise the length of time between washing the bedding.

I’ve changed dd’s clothes for bed ever since her first night in the hospital- at first for practice dressing a baby, then it just became a habit so it would feel weird just putting her down without a change first.

hobblesma · 13/09/2018 22:36

Certainly none of dd friends do or my dsis dc or friends. Or not been admitted by mums

Interesting. The way you phrased that implies that it's something people should be ashamed of. It's only clothes!

C0untDucku1a · 13/09/2018 22:36

Never done this. But if weve done a long journey that will result in us getting back after bedtime, at an appropriate point en route ive changed then into pjs!

kaytee87 · 13/09/2018 22:37

@hobblesma I said 'potential' as op was talking about her child falling asleep whilst out and put straight to bed.
Also I said it would bother me, don't really care if other people skip brushing their kids teeth 🤷🏼‍♀️
