To wonder how many of your children sleep with day clothes on?

I’ll admit sometimes DD 3 will be put to bed in her day clothes if she’s had a new set on not long before bed and we’ve gone out, I’ll leave her asleep rather than wake her. Is it really that terrible? If they’re clean and comfy then surely it’s ok? I know it’s not “proper” just wondered how many of you do the same sometimes ?

I've never done that. Not really sure why, because I sometimes have gone to bed in leggings and a t-shirt but wouldn't put my ds to bed in his regular clothes.

I might feel differently if I could move him from the car seat to bed without waking him, but I've not managed that since he was a baby!

If DDs fell asleep at bedtime in their clothes, we would undress them while asleep and put them to bed in their knicks and vest.
Being undressed while sleeping didn't really wake then if they were very tired.
I wouldn't want to wake up in my clothes, would you?

I don't do this but he would never sleep through a transfer, I probably would if he was fast asleep in joggys and a t shirt or something though or maybe just take his trousers off.

Not done it but would if I was in the situations you describe.

Mine have definitely been put to bed in their day clothes, like you say if they're clean, comfortable enough and appropriate then crack on. I put my foot down on polyester dress up outfits no matter how much little bat-toddler cries, I'm not putting him to bed in one like that as I think he will overheat.

Occasionally, e.g. after a long car journey or if they’re poorly and fall asleep. They’re only clothes after all. If they’re clean, who cares?

My DD is 10 and would sleep in her clothes if she could get away with it (and often does if I don't specifically put her to bed at night). I think for her it's a sensory thing of being warm and content in the clothes she's been wearing and not wanting to having to wait to 'feel right' in the night clothes after changing.

No it wouldn't feel very.... clean. I don't know. It just not something Id ever do but I can't put my finger on why.

I wouldn't sleep in my day clothes either. I have 'lounging' tee and shorts though. Which I keep as pjs.

No I have never done that, always undressed them when they were little.

How old and what clothing?

A baby in a babygro they’ve had on for the afternoon? Not a problem.

A pre-schooler in leggings and a t-shirt they’ve had on all day? Not ideal but not the end of the world (especially if changing = meltdown).

A 5 year old in their school uniform? Best not.

Yes do it quite often - if it's leggings soft clothes.

Do what works for your family, but no we never did this.

They had a bath almost every night so changed into PJs.

The very occasional night it was too late we woke them enough to brush their teeth, pop them on the loo and put them into PJs.

No. I would put PJs on them, whilst they are asleep.

Frequently happened here. I also used to do it the other way round and put them to sleep in fresh comfy clothes if we had a v early start in the morning such as an early flight. They're teens now and don't seem to have suffered.

I’ve never done this. I like things orderly: night clothes for bed. Anything else would make me feel weird.

If the clothes are clean and the child is comfortable then why would it matter?

frequently sleep in clothes myself. Don't care, whats the difference? whats day clothes is one part of the world is night clothes in another anyway.

My kids would happily sleep in their clothes, especially their tshirt & pants. I have to nag them to get changed. Now they change into clean pants (yes, I know this is against the mn grain as you all sleep knickerless!) and a clean tshirt. They have a huge pile of unworn pjs & nighties.

Very rarely they may have been carried from car to bed, and I'd take off their trousers and top so they were just in underwear or two-shirts. Those times they probably weren't particularly clean!

If he fell asleep solid just before bed I would do anything to not wake him again because he'd just have hysterics for 20 minutes. So he has on a handful of occasions been put to bed not in pj's. Jeans or shorts would come off, leggings and t shirts I'd leave.
Only happened a handful of times because he doesn't nap anymore!

Ive always changed mine into pajamas if they've fallen asleep. They hardly stir and go straight back down anyway.

I know I've been uncomfortable the few times I've fallen asleep in my clothes, so I wouldn't want that for them.

I agree there's no harm though. It's just my preference.

Have done it occasionally but only if they're wearing soft clothes.
Wouldn't do it in jeans or school uniform for example.

The little ones don't get changed into pjs for naps during the day so it's not going to do any harm if they sleep through the night in day clothes occasionaly.

WTAF. Hell no. As soon as they're reliably dry then they go to bed naked as god intended! (sarcasm)

Seriously though why would you wear clothes in bed. Only reason: you're expecting to be awoken at 6am by your son bringing several of your animals up to "say good morning" and you don't want fancy rats gnawing at your pubes.

(They are seriously cute though. I shout "Gimme 2 minutes!" and drag my PJs on and all is well. Little ratties running around my bed and climbing up to me to groom me as part of the tribe, what's not to love.)
