Just that really

Minor popstar?

I'm not a fan and I don't watch X-Factor but didn't he once sign the biggest record deal in UK music history?

JoffreyBaratheon · 09/09/2018 01:30

I always loved him. He is flawed but isn't anyone who is interesting?

I don't think fame at the level he had it, at a young age, would be easy for anyone to handle. My ex was a child/teenaged/young actor and he was pretty fecked up - I've seen this up close. I think hating him is like blaming the victim.

CSIblonde · 09/09/2018 01:31

He seems so needy. That's puts me off anyone.

grumpy4squash · 09/09/2018 01:39

I think he's generally arsed, but he called his daughter Colette which is a pretty and unusual name, so maybe there's something going for him.

Igorina · 09/09/2018 02:08

Trojanpony as I remember, he and his wife both orchestrated a bunch of videos while she was in labour and leaving the hospital for a bit of fun.

It's not serious.

1forAll74 · 09/09/2018 02:55

i used to really like Robbie Williams some years ago, but he and his wife on X factor are a big no no and turn off. and also that little blokey from one direction is a no no. Cowell man thinks that these so called famous people will boost his ailing X factor, having paid Robbie and his wife 10 million quid to be there, but it has all lost its appeal now, It seems more about the judges now, and the monotony of all the well worn phrases they use for most of the singers. I guess that it will still keep banging on though, I am going to watch Strictly come dancing !!

penisbeakers · 09/09/2018 03:14

Nope.

NotTheFordType · 09/09/2018 03:20

Why the fuck are you watching TV, let alone X Factor?!

X Factor was invented as "and this is why we stick to Netflix darling"

PollyFlinderz · 09/09/2018 03:26

I can totally see why people think this but I love him. Absolutely fantastic entertainer with a huge ego but harmless and self-deprecating. 100x better than Gary Barlow in my opinion who is a boring, though inoffensive person with zero on stage presence. Give me Robbie any day. You either love him or hate him I think.

I agree. I went to one of his concerts in Abu Dhabi a few years back when I was about 55 and there were people there in their 70’s as well as youngsters with their families and pals. It was a small venue and we had the most fabulous evening. I still think about it and I’m hoping for the chance to do it again sometime. I just have to see a picture of him or see him on the TV and I feel happy. As for him and Ayda? They seem like a very nice couple and I wish them a long and happy life together. They’re also very funny together as well.

PollyFlinderz · 09/09/2018 03:28

Sorry, don’t watch X factor, not even to see Robbie, so I’ve no idea about last nights show.

PollyFlinderz · 09/09/2018 03:32

Remember watching him one NYE where he used hand sanitising gel after touching people's hands at a concert

Where I live we’re told shaking hands is one of the biggest causes of colds and upset tummies so perhaps he was trying to reduce the chance of getting a bug that might have meant him cancelling a tour.

Or perhaps his mental health wasn’t great at the time and this was something he needeD to do.

CutesyUserName · 09/09/2018 04:51

A friends son works with him and says he's lovely in RL - generous, funny and not at all precious.

Nanna50 · 09/09/2018 05:32

OP you are a bigger arse for starting a thread just to insult someone.

GoatYoga · 09/09/2018 06:58

Nanna50 isn’t that what at least 50% of the threads in AIBU do?

happinessischocolate · 09/09/2018 07:28

*Robbie was in the right place at the right time and got very lucky.

He would not get famous if he was 16 years old today.*

So how come the other members of take that who were in exactly the same place at exactly the same time haven't been as successful?

flumpybear · 09/09/2018 07:39

Can't stand the bloke, he's the type that opens his mouth and something distasteful comes out - he's not polished, and he's crass, so totally up his own arse, that he can see daylight
I wasn't a TT fan the first time around, the 'grown up' TT was much better, had Robbie been a part of it the. I suspect they would have bombed, but grown up TT were good, polished, professionals

Palmer1983 · 09/09/2018 07:42

He is rather annoying but yeah I just change the channel Grin

SuburbanRhonda · 09/09/2018 07:50

he's had a late diagnosis of ADHD - lets not forget that this is a mental health issue.

ADHD is a behavioural disorder, not a mental health condition.

Beamur · 09/09/2018 07:53

I saw him in concert about 15 years ago (maybe longer) and he great, really good fun, great rapport with the audience and his singing was faultless. He is an entertainer.
Having never met him, I'd be reluctant to judge him as a person.

MrsExpo · 09/09/2018 07:57

Going against the popular view here. I totally agreed with OP, but have started to watch X Factor this year and have warmed to him a bit. He does seem to have some human qualities. Don’t think I’ll ever be a big enough fan to actually spend money on his music, but he’s harmless enough.

Jaxtellerswife · 09/09/2018 07:58

Love him. Hes fully aware of what people think but not everyone will love you so what can you do🤷🏻‍♀️.

(And as for Mark Owen, had he married me like I planned at eleven, he might not have had so many issues )

Jane1727 · 09/09/2018 08:05

I love him! Always have, he is gorgeous! Yes arrogant but part of his charm!

loverly · 09/09/2018 08:15

There was that comment about his wife in labour...

'It was like watching your favourite pub burn down'

Apparently she wasn't impressed Confused

Mummadeeze · 09/09/2018 08:15

I love X Factor and so far he is the most annoying judge to date. I just find him irritating. I like his wife but would like two female judges to be honest. Cheryl is my all time favourite judge... although I love Tom Jones on The Voice most of all!

pictish · 09/09/2018 08:18

Ugh...I have spent the best part of 20 years diving for the off button whenever his face or mediocre voice appeared on tv or radio. There was a thread recently asking if there were any television people that inexplicably made you shudder and I said Robbie Williams...although I don’t think it’s inexplicable, I think the reasons are fairly obvious. He’s odious and everything that is wrong in our culture. His popularity speaks volumes about us, what we value and how fucked up our priorities are.

“He’s a brilliant entertainer” - No. He’s not. He struts up and down holding a mic with his chest puffed out. You are very easily pleased, that’s all.

Whoever said Robbie Williams, Keith Lemon and Mrs Brown’s Boys is the Triumvirate of Hell was spot on.
