To think this after school club is too expensive?

After school club: 3.15-6pm, dinner included (light meal pizza, beans on toast, pasta), in the Midlands, £14 (not inc breakfast club)

Is this too much? What do you pay?

That's not bad. Ours is £15 and only get a snack.

TeaAndBisquits · 31/08/2018 21:43

We pay the same (£14) from 3.10 - 6.15.
Similar sort of thing for tea, pasta, wraps, beans on toast etc.

The girls love it though and they have many different activities to do each day.

user1483387861 · 31/08/2018 21:44

We pay £7.50 in South Yorks. They don’t get dinner but are served a light snack, it could be anything from garlic bread to noodles.

missmapp · 31/08/2018 21:46

£9 in the South east. Only give a snack though

Mum2jenny · 31/08/2018 21:46

Are these prices per day, or per week?

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 31/08/2018 21:46

Not sure why you think it is expensive its approx. £5 per hour including food, activities and qualified child care. How much do you think it should be? Hmm

Kit10 · 31/08/2018 21:47

Thanks so everyone so far- per day x

OP posts:
Ohyesiam · 31/08/2018 21:47

That’s only Just over £4 an hour, which sounds like good value.
That doesn’t help
If you can’t affird it though.

GreenTulips · 31/08/2018 21:47

Usually £4 an hour so £10 plus food and drink - sounds about right

Seeyounexttue · 31/08/2018 21:48

3 hours of childcare and they get fed? Sounds more like a bargain to me!

TeaAndBisquits · 31/08/2018 21:48

£14 a day here

Kit10 · 31/08/2018 21:49

Headsdown

Because the fee has just gone up quite a bit so it's expensive compared to the previous price. And wanted a loaded term to get people to reply Wink basically just curious as to what it is elsewhere. Childminders here are £4 an hour with obviously younger children and higher ratios.

Cheap

Chrisinthemorning · 31/08/2018 21:50

Ours is £3 per half hour so 3.30-6 would be £15. They get a sandwich and fruit I think.

FoxFoxSierra · 31/08/2018 21:50

That's not too bad, ours is £12 per child but with a discount for siblings so £11.50 for dc2 3.20-6 and no meal just a snack (crumpets etc). I'd be happy to pay £14 if they got dinner too

hibbledibble · 31/08/2018 21:50

Ours is £5.20 an hour here, and the only food is usually toast, plus they don't take childcare vouchers, so that sounds like pretty good value.

How much is breakfast club? Under £5 I assume? It means that altogether you have a full day of childcare for under £20 which isn't bad! Certainly not when you compare to nurseries which can be £130+ a day..

Kit10 · 31/08/2018 21:51

Thank you, it's really interesting to hear what everyone else is paying and makes me feel better.

Breakfast club is £5.50

OP posts:
shatteredstudentmum · 31/08/2018 21:51

Wow! Ours is £5 with a snack, sandwich, fruit, biscuit and drink.

Scrumptiousbears · 31/08/2018 21:51

Ours is 1515hrs. - 1700hrs £7.50, to 1800hrs £10 both inc dinner

thismeansnothing · 31/08/2018 21:51

That's expensive! Well it is compared to round here. DDs school Breakfast club is £2 a day drop off from 7.45am. After school club is £5 a day collect by 5:45pm they get a drink, fruit and a snack (toast/sandwich/crumpet).

MrsPworkingmummy · 31/08/2018 21:51

My daughter's school is similar. They charge £5.50 per morning for breakfast club, and £15.50 per evening 3.30 until 6. That includes a snack only. It IS very expensive and in the past, schools would have offered 'fre'' breakfast and afterschool clubs with LSAs etc running them. Now though, due to funding cuts, schools tend to employ private companies to provide this service hence the much higher parental charge.

user1511042793 · 31/08/2018 21:52

I am also Midlands and that’s expensive. £5 for same but finishes at 530. Others I know pay up to around £9 for longer but never £14 or even over a tenner.

Newtothis2017 · 31/08/2018 21:52

Bargain

Kit10 · 31/08/2018 21:52

Oh no now the cheaper posts have come in, I'm cross again now haha

Ours is £8 (Manchester). They get a drink and small snack. Breakfast club at school from 8.15 is 60p!
