To think this after school club is too expensive?

After school club: 3.15-6pm, dinner included (light meal pizza, beans on toast, pasta), in the Midlands, £14 (not inc breakfast club)

Is this too much? What do you pay?

I would absolutely expect a childminder to cost more, much more individual attention to the children, their interests and likes and dislikes. After school club at our school is basically herding them in to the hall where there is lego, crayons and a couple of jugs of squash and some apples.

Just catching up

@nancy75 DD goes to one of the schools where it's cheap (£2 breakfast club £5 after school) it's a deprived area and not many kids make use of it. To the point there is talk of axing it completely. I'd happily pay more for it to stay open if needs be because. Well I can't finish work at 3pm! Anyway to answer your question as to who's running it. The teaching assistants all had their hours dramatically cut due to budget cuts. So one of them runs breakfast club and one runs after school club in order for them to get some extra hours in.

Pinkprincess1978 · 01/09/2018 23:32

Ours is £8 until 6pm and they get a light meal.

Namechange8471 · 01/09/2018 23:35

I pay £4 that's per day 3-5pm with a snack.

Charmatt · 01/09/2018 23:35

It can depend what level of deprivation you have in your area. More deprived areas can gain subsidies for wraparound care.

The price you've been given looks about average for a less deprived area round here (East Midlands)

Thehop · 01/09/2018 23:37

We have a private company (nursery) providing ours and it’s £3 per day breakfast club and £16 after school club

mrscee · 01/09/2018 23:41

Sounds a bit pricey but ours is 3.00 to 5.15 and it's £4 per hour or £6 for 2 hours and they get a snack like toast and a drink with a biscuit. Not a proper meal.

mrscee · 01/09/2018 23:44

For got to say breakfast club is £3.00 7.45 till start of 8.45 this is the south coast

dracolovesharry · 01/09/2018 23:44

Ours is:
3.15-4 - £4
3.15-5 - £8 inc snack, toast etc
3.15-6 - £10

Sounds a bargain next to yoursSad

JurassicGirl · 01/09/2018 23:44

Wow! That'd would be very expensive here (Cornwall)

Breakfast club is £1.50 per day.

After school club is £3 per hour & they get toast, fruit & a drink. Only available for 2 hours so maximum of £6 per day. They play board games, do crafts & sports (depending on the weather).

BakedBeans47 · 01/09/2018 23:46

Mine is £11 for same hours and they have snacks like bagels, toast, veg and houmous, fruit etc

C0untDucku1a · 01/09/2018 23:47

Breakfast club £2 a day
After school clubs hntil 6pm, woth a meal, £12.

Im going to stop complaining!

littlesquish · 01/09/2018 23:50

I pay £8.50 and from 3-5:30 no food included. That's South Wales x

GlossyGlossy · 01/09/2018 23:52

Ours is 12.50 per session (from 3-6), the price is the same no matter how early you pick them up.

No dinner provided but they have a decent snack which varies each day and fruit is always offered.

It's a fantastic club with amazing staff, they do loads of activities with the kids, take them on lots of outings to local parks and walks. 12.50 a day is alot of money to me but it's a comfort to know my son is so well cared for when I'm at work.
