To think this after school club is too expensive?

Kit10 · 31/08/2018 21:41

After school club: 3.15-6pm, dinner included (light meal pizza, beans on toast, pasta), in the Midlands, £14 (not inc breakfast club)

Is this too much? What do you pay?

About £6.50 for breakfast club (745am to 825am!!) and £13.50 for afterschool club (3pm -630pn) for us here (NW) - thought it was pretty reasonable until I read some of the posts above!!

SerialNameChangerMe · 31/08/2018 22:38

Wow! Ours is £8 for 3 hours including a good snack.

cameltoeflappyflapflap · 31/08/2018 22:39

£15 per day here for 3-5.45.

Breakfast club is extra.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 31/08/2018 22:40

Sounds reasonable.
Especially if you're currently happy with the care provided and your dc are happy to go there.

TheRani · 31/08/2018 22:41

I run a before and after school club in the midlands, it's £4 per hour with snack, so £11 3.15-6. No one has ever complained about fees and we couldn't afford to run at much less to be honest.

justcontemplatingsomething · 31/08/2018 22:41

@hibbledibble nurseries are £130+ a day?? Seriously??

BlueSky198080 · 31/08/2018 22:50

When ds’s (14 & 18) where in primary,, it ran until 6pm, they had tea (pizza, toasted sandwiches etc), and it was free. I can’t belive these prices!

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 31/08/2018 22:51

At my DDs school it's £10 for breakfast club and £13 for after school club. For two kids five days a week it would be financially crippling Shock

FrangipaniBlue · 31/08/2018 22:51

The one DS goes to is £7.25p/h + £1 to collect from school (across the road) and £1.50 for his tea.

So if he did 3.15-6 it would be £22.44 Confused

BlueSky198080 · 31/08/2018 22:55

Oh and breakfast club was free too- 7:30am- 8:50am and obviously fed!

BackforGood · 31/08/2018 22:58

(Midlands). That sounds fine to me, as long as you need the care until 6pm.
Almost 3 hours of childcare plus they have had their meal. Sounds good.
I think it would be a problem if it is 'one price for all' and you only need childcare until 4.30 or 5pm.

Beingginger · 31/08/2018 23:08

Ours is £3.50ph for both breakfast and after school club. They just get a drink and snack though after school and cereal or toast for breakfast.
This is in Manchester.

namechangedtoday15 · 31/08/2018 23:09

£14.75 here (Manchester) per child, no discounts for siblings, with a cold light snack - my children have a dinner as normal when we get home. Plus there is an immediate £10 penalty (per child) if you're literally a minute late.

Breakfast club is £9 I think (don't use it) from 7.45 to 8.40 when school starts.

I think it's a complete rip off but they have working parents over a barrel.

Mummymummums · 31/08/2018 23:11

£17 per child here (SE) 3.15 to 6.15, includes dinner.

Ellieboolou27 · 31/08/2018 23:12

£12 from 3.10-6pm or £5 from 3.10-4.30
£4.50 for breakfast club which is from 7.30-8.50

It’s a lot when you have 2 kids and get the monthly bill, but the school offer tax free childcare, I get £2 off every £10 I spend.
Still works out cheaper than a Childminder.

Ellieboolou27 · 31/08/2018 23:12

Light snack included for after school club.

user1498809986 · 31/08/2018 23:18

I'm in Devon and our breakfast club is £1.50 and after School Club is £5.50 from 3.30 to 5 or £7 if they stay til 6, includes light snacks of sandwich/toast/crumpets etc.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 31/08/2018 23:20

Ours is £5 for first hour and £4.50 for second child, or £9/£8.50 for two hours and £10/£9.50 for three hours. Includes a snack. Also a £5 annual membership fee. Breakfast club is £3.50 and £3 for sibling. Just outside London.

CognitiveDissonance · 31/08/2018 23:20

Ours is £10.00, Reduced to £7.00 if your kids are in an after school activity first. I'm in London

gettingbacktoresearch · 31/08/2018 23:20

Oxford and here it’s just gone up to £12.50 for 3-6 with lights snack. Also breakfast club is £4 for 7:30am-8:45 with cereal and toast (different suppliers)

ohnothanks · 31/08/2018 23:20

£14 per child till 615 pm here, greater London. A cool £5.5 grand a year.. luckily no breakfast club as Dh does dropoffs.

On a side note ... @BlackLambAndGreyFalcon, have never met anyone else who has read that truly excellent book. Good on yer.

wizzywig · 31/08/2018 23:21

£8p/h here 3-5.30pm

MidniteScribbler · 31/08/2018 23:21

Well to add ours is non profit, ran by charity.

Just because something is run by a charity, does not mean it is free to run. Staff still need to be paid, space needs to be paid for, equipment bought, food purchased.

Kit10 · 31/08/2018 23:28

Yes thanks Midnite, I work for a charity I am fully aware of how they work Hmm...someone made a distinction between private and non profit so I wanted to clarify ours was nonprofit.

OP posts:
greendale17 · 31/08/2018 23:33

Ours work out at £5.50 an hour
