My sister and I both have J names. My first name is a form of Jane which is my middle name, if I had been a boy I was going to be John Joseph or Joseph John. My exH was Ivan John so in effect John John married Jane Jane. Our DD has a K name and I carefully avoided alliteration but realised too late that DD has to spell out all of her names as her first name can be spelled with either a C or a K and there are three common ways of spelling it. Her middle name has 2 versions and I picked the less common one and her surname can be spelled with or without a U and with or without a final E. I tell her that she got off lightly as she would have been Gemma Emma if her Dad had got his own way

I knew a woman whose eldest son was Carl, called Carly and her next one was called Carlos after his Dad, but known as Carlo. Next to boys were Paul, called Pauly and Mark again called Marky. her name also ended with an ie sound

I met identical twins named Anna and Annie and boy/girl twin babies called Dolly and Teddy - I don't think they will appreciate those names when older!

Beeziekn33ze · 01/09/2018 00:27

Sisters Alexandra and Sasha (a diminutive)

I taught a Harry Harrison - not the SciFi author although happy to have the same name!

heavymetalheatherhead · 01/09/2018 00:29

How are Jacob and James "basically the same name"????

Puremince · 01/09/2018 06:20

Seen on a gravestone, a Victorian family. Father was Archibald and two of his children were Archibald and Archibella.

Shiraznowplease · 01/09/2018 06:28

I know through work of twins Gemma and Emma, the mum is currently pregnant and trying to think of boys name to fit the theme

Jimdandy · 01/09/2018 06:50

I don’t get it.

I know brothers called Henry and Harry which I find odd.

Sisters called Melanie and Melissa both call themselves Mel.

Someone I know have a daughter with an Shona tribal name (Fsther from Zimbabwe) that translates to Grace. But her middle name is also Grace. So she is called Grace Grace.

The. She had another baby with someone else, and called her Gracie-May. I just find it odd as if the older one wanted to use her middle name (it was given if she preferred to use an Anglicised name) then she’s got a Grace and a Gracie.

I met a Ronnie and Reggie at a twins playgroup. They looked cute but why????

FlamingJuno · 01/09/2018 07:27

Roger Federer has two sets of twins. The boy set are called Leo and Lenny, which are basically both diminutives of Leonard.
I know a brother and sister set who are called Charlotte and Charles, a husband and wife both called Sam and another married couple Leslie and Lesley.

ButtonMirror · 01/09/2018 07:33

@butterry my dogs are teddy and dolly lol

OutPinked · 01/09/2018 07:33

I don’t think anyone has mentioned the fact Harry Kane’s daughters both have the middle name Jane yet Grin. I truly think some people forget to consider the surname when deciding on a name.

Anquin · 01/09/2018 07:33

Liam is a diminutive of William, @Dr Seuss, I don’t think it is similar at all to John. Are you thinking of Ian/Iain/Jan?

SavageBeauty73 · 01/09/2018 07:36

Laughing at Sam and Ella 😂😂😂😂

ButtonMirror · 01/09/2018 07:39

Thought of another...

My mum's best friend married Steve. She then divorced Steve and married another Steve. Again divorced. Married and divorced a third Steve. She's now with Brian and has been for longer than any of the Steve's!!

AdoraBell · 01/09/2018 07:44

I’ve met a man called Hansel, and yes, his younger sister is Gretel.

Jaffacakesfordinner · 01/09/2018 07:54

Greggers2017 · 01/09/2018 08:01

My gran and her twin were Doris and Horace 🤣🤣🤣
I went to school with a Leon victor and Leanne Victoria 🙄 and a Gemma and Jenna.

YourMilkshakeIsBetterThanMine · 01/09/2018 08:04

Not quite the same as it wasn't the parents' fault but I went ti school with twin boys....Craig and David. Right around the Bo Selecta time.

BikeRunSki · 01/09/2018 08:10

Innnoe a family where all the boys are given the same name. They then have a complicated system of who uses their middle name, who uses which abbreviation etc. They are a very boy/heavy family and all live in the same town. There’s always at least 3 siblings in each generation, and at least 3 generations alive at once! They keep getting each other’s dental appointments.

Shampooeeee · 01/09/2018 08:12

I’ve known two sets of boy-girl twins with similar names:
John and Joanne
Charles and Charlotte

I do think it’s strange.

molifly · 01/09/2018 08:15

I've seen two with one had a middle name 'rain' and the other 'bow'

Korvalscat · 01/09/2018 08:26

Not quite the same but I had a work colleague whose children were Elizabeth and Philip. He said that he and his DW just liked the names and thought they went well together. He didn't realise until the youngest was about 5 and somone commented that he was obviously a Royalist.

Basta · 01/09/2018 08:29

I know twins called Andrew and Andrea.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 01/09/2018 14:35

I know two siblings called William and Liam which are very similar.

My db has the same name as my df, so both are called Fred. Parents divorced and remarried, df has another son with his new wife called Fred.

*Name has been changed.

Jaxhog · 01/09/2018 14:41

I know a Jay family too! I also have 2 Uncles , each with many children - all beginning with D.
