Car parking costs at work out of control

Parking at work now costs us £3.10 per day. If we park in free public carpark it adds 45mins to journey time. Would you just pay up to save a bit more time on commute and kids dinner rush Hell??

£3.10 is a bargain! I used to work in Leeds City centre and cheapest parking within walking distance from work was £10 a day. The multi storey next door was £28 a day, I can't believe anyone actually parked there!

Staff car park is £2 per month where I work. An absolute bargain.

@cricketmum84 I agree £3.10 is a bargain. Any city/town centre I've parked in the cheapest cost has been £8 per day while most are £10-15. Though I've been extremely lucky on occasions and have found people who have given me free parking as long as I don't work late.

In fact I know people - both male and female - who have deliberately got bikes and bike licences because they aren't charged for parking plus it's quicker to get through traffic.

£7 fuel per day for 30 miles sounds a lot more expensive than £3 to park. Maybe look at a car that's more economical.

Larasshadow · 30/08/2018 09:36

Sorry, misread that it's 30 miles each way.

SequinsOnEverything · 30/08/2018 09:36

£3.10 a day seems really cheap to me! My work car park is over £10 a day. Not sure exactly how much because I never use it.

When I worked in our town centre it also would have cost me about £10 a day. I'd definitely pay £3.10 a day to save myself the 45 mins.

OutPinked · 30/08/2018 09:38

Cheaper than all day parking in the city centre near my work, more than half the price in fact. I started getting public transport instead but even that is more expensive than that parking charge.

£3.10 is a bargain! That is no where near out of control. I buy a years parking permit for work which costs £60 a month and I consider that relitivly cheap - there are car parks near me that cost £8 a day and one that is £15
