NC (name changed as I don't want this to be outing)

A rhythmless man at church has said he wants to put on a concert to raise some money for shoeless orphans. We shall call him A.

A said to B that they have money to help. B said that the last concert raised some issues but would support them none the less.

C said she didn't want to be forgotten.

Who is BU?

Well , it sounds as if a few things have been ironed out . Rather unfortunate regarding the knicker wetting episode though , I can sympathise , nerves can get the better of even seasoned pros. Maybe next time she ought to wear a tenor ( geddit) lady as it can be awfully difficult to reach top C with damp knickers.

nowayishere · 29/08/2018 22:41

oddcat shoo!
Also, tenor refers to the male tessitura.

Well that meeting and update took a turn I wasn’t expecting.

Fairyfellowsmasterstroke · 29/08/2018 22:48

Oddcat, that's a real dodgy suggestion for Pavarotti!!!
I don't think he ever doubled as a feminine hygiene product Wink.

Mind you Placido Domingo is a whole different story!!!!!!

Oddcat · 29/08/2018 22:52

Maybe wear 3 tenors just to be on the safe side Grin

Wanttomakemincepies · 29/08/2018 22:57

I have seen/read some strange stuff in my time but this has to be up there with some of the weirder stuff. You couldn't make this shit up.

JustJoinedRightNow · 29/08/2018 22:58

Oddcat - brilliant!!

Wanttomakemincepies · 29/08/2018 22:59

I was going to suggest ping pong act for C to try but not sure her pelvic floor would hold out. That would be a whole other act Grin

Magicmonster · 29/08/2018 22:59

mincepies - I’m afraid that making this shit up is exactly what we are doing.

Fairyfellowsmasterstroke · 29/08/2018 23:01

Oddcat - Get thee gone!!!!

OP has condemned you to the 3rd circle of Dante's inferno.

C will just have to dribble quietly in a corner (or add to the contents of Penis Beaker).

Oddcat · 29/08/2018 23:02

Indeed it would Grin . It might not be too disastrous if the audience all wore a shower cap but I know that the vicars wife wouldn't be too keen as it would flatten her perm.

Wanttomakemincepies · 29/08/2018 23:03

@Magicmonster but the OP isn't, which is why it is comedy gold. This thread is the gift that keeps on giving.

Magicmonster · 29/08/2018 23:05

Erm, I’m pretty sure the OP IS making this shit up!

Wanttomakemincepies · 29/08/2018 23:07

@Magicmonster if she is then she should put this much effort into the fundraising. A comedy night may get those orphans some shoes and give C another reason to piss herself.

Magicmonster · 29/08/2018 23:10

Not a bad idea there mince pies!

In total seriousness this thread did inspire me to spend an hour this morning searching for charities through which I could sponsor an orphan (not specifically/exclusively in relation to shoes!). If anyone knows which would be the best charity for this please let me know!

HalloumiGus · 29/08/2018 23:14

The wasp was being unreasonable.

Oddcat · 29/08/2018 23:28

@MagicMonster , my friend is involved with a charity called Hand in Hand , the lady that runs it ensures the money goes to those who need it .

Magicmonster · 29/08/2018 23:31

Thanks oddcat - I’ll look into it

DrFoxtrot · 29/08/2018 23:38

Thanks for the extra info - I have decided YANBU. If this was my life/ situation I wouldn't know what to do either Confused it is too complicated ridiculous.

SubtitlesOn · 29/08/2018 23:38

There are several charities that take old shoes (esp children) and recycle them to those in need

Magicmonster · 29/08/2018 23:51

I didn’t know that, thanks subtitles! Wouldn’t it be great if as well as being a great laugh this thread also encouraged us to recycle some shoes or do a similar good deed.

Right that’s enough sensible-ness from me! Let’s get back to the thread. Apologies for the derailment OP. I appreciate that urine the driving seat on this one, so to speak.

SubtitlesOn · 30/08/2018 02:28

@Magicmonster when our DC were wearing new school shoes but growing out of them but not wearing them out there used to be a "bin" type thing in clarkes for you to leave the old shoes in - but that was many years ago

Now we send ours to the local hospice who recycle them if they still have some wear still in them

Our grown up DD, had a pair of old trainers that were completely worn through the heels and the soles coming off, She put them in the hippo skip outside on our driveway, the next morning they were gone

Also, a local church did collections of shoes a couple of years ago for refugees held in the camps in France. They used to take over trucks full of clothes and toys and shoes.

We tend to give everything to the local hospice cos if we sort out the rags/clothes that have elastic gone ping or broken zips or torn they recycle them and get money back. They also sell the decent stuff in their shops

There is very little that they don't have on their lists of things they are wanting donated.

They also collect from houses but as we have a car it doesn't seem right for the volunteers to drive over to our house to collect when we can take it to them.

Nothing helpful to post. It's a beautifully sunny day here which is rather nice.

I see that Oddcat and Magicmonster are still being vair, vair naughty girls. Tut tut.
