Just that really.... inspired by the recent sticker campaign.... "Women can't have penises" and "Some women have penises"....

Simple question - simple answer.

Me - Yes, I believe women can't have penises.

Try this analogy, a white person identifies himself as a black man, and puts brown make up on, and tries to dress in a cultural way to that race and tell people that they are a real black person. This would be insulting, offensive and unheard of right, many would be up in arms about it. He has no idea what it is like to be black, the struggles that many black people face, racism, black history and culture. Why is it ok to do this for women, and for women to just accept it, when black people would not be expected to.

SandraTheBee · 30/08/2018 09:56

Aeroflotgirl I have have also used that analogy. People would be up in arms. Women are fair game though because men don’t like them and men are basically still in control.

Aeroflotgirl · 30/08/2018 10:00

Exactly, though they identify as 'women', they are still using their male misogeny and power over women. We need to unite and stamp them down.

Aeroflotgirl · 30/08/2018 10:03

Scratch the brown make up off, he would still be a white man underneath and in his genes. No change can alter that, same with sex.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 30/08/2018 10:08

Exactly YetAnother, it is obvious they are not using their dick to pee out of, but to satisfy their sexual needs. I bet a lot of these TRAS are them, men who dress up as women with a full set of meat and two veg who want to see how far they can go. They do not have a clue on woman's rights or issues, I don't think they care tbh or they would not do what they are doing

Speaking of that subset who are active in shecock, ladycock or similar fetishland I personally think they have no idea or care about women (I mean real women) - we are objects, things and almost inanimate - you know, how porn has defined us - something to wank over or to, not an actual person.

Aeroflotgirl · 30/08/2018 10:21

I agree, they way they dress is how porn defines women, and their behaviour is extending that: objectifying women as porns in their sexual pleasure. I bet they go back to being men, when its over, this is just part of their fetish. It is degrading and insulting to women, and those Transwomen who quietly go about their own lives. They give them a bad rep. I saw Kaitlyn Jenner on a documentary, I really liked her, she was well spoken, intelligent and did not talk down to women who objected. She also called herself a Transwoman, not try to say she is a real lady.

loveyouradvice · 30/08/2018 11:23

What amazes me - in a thread this long - is that there are about 3 people who believe women can have penises... and everyone else full heartedly disagrees.

SO WHY WHY ON EARTH ARE WE MAKING POLICY AROUND the tiny percentage who believe this - and throwing girls and women's safety, privacy and dignity under the bus.... let alone girls' sport etc

QuizzlyBear · 30/08/2018 11:24

This again?! Who cares?

If some people in society feel better about themselves by identifying with the opposite sex, then really, how does this affect you?

If trans people need to do this to feel whole, then I say they should fill their boots. It's no concern of mine what others need to do or feel in order to live a happy life, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

I'm a straight white woman with no disabilities in a comfortable income bracket - I come from a very privileged position in society so as far as I'm concerned that gives me the responsibility to act like a human being with compassion for others that don't have it so easy.

But as usual, this is a trigger subject for anyone who enjoys a bit of outrage... Hmm

AintNoCista · 30/08/2018 11:29

Quiz if you'd bothered to read even a fraction of the thread you'd see why it matters.

SingeBuggerCack · 30/08/2018 11:35

‘As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else.’ That’s the kicker. Because people absolutely are getting hurt by trans ideology such as women in prison, some of the most vulnerable people in society, being housed with rapists. Or young lesbians being abused online because they refuse to accept people with penises into their dating pool.

Have you actually looked into what’s happening?

Italiangreyhound · 30/08/2018 11:35

QuizzlyBear personally I don't care how people identify, unless that enshrines into law the right of any male to represent women, speak on our behalf, take specific roles from women, use all women short lists, be imprisoned alongside vulnerable females, or use hostels for vulnerable women ( including rape crosis facilities), or take places to compete in sports against women and take places from women, or use the showers/changing room with me or my teenage daughter.

Being white or middle class has bugger all to do with it.

I've every sympathy for those who are gender dysphoric. However, legally changing what it means to be a woman ( or a man) with no counselling or medical assistance (if needed) automatically available will not help genuine trans people IMHO. It will harm women and girls.

Maybe read about the massive number of currently dysphoric teen females and then see of this issue might affect people on a parenting site.

SingeBuggerCack · 30/08/2018 11:42

Yes, for the love of god don’t take our word for it. Maybe you’re thinking that we’re exaggerating. For the moment put that aside and consider the possibility that we’re not. Just spend a little time reading and looking into things.

An awful lot of people used to feel the way you do and have since changed their minds. I’m one of them.

NonaGrey · 30/08/2018 11:43

If some people in society feel better about themselves by identifying with the opposite sex, then really, how does this affect you

I don’t care in the least how someone dresses, what they call themselves and I will politely use any pronoun they request. None of that hurts me.

That’s not what we’re talking about here though Quizzly.

Take some time to read through the thread to see why it will hurt women of the new speak that “women can have penises” comes to be legally accepted.

Because you might not always be a comfortably off woman with no disabilities.

You could end up as an old disabled lady who wants a woman to undertake her personal care, or a vulnerable woman preferring a female health care professional, a rape victim wanting a female only counselling service etc etc etc

An easier example - if a man hassles you on a night out, you run to the ladies right? What if he can follow you through the door without challenge?

Do you have daughters Quizzly or young female relatives?

This isn’t about “being nice and tolerant” it’s about a huge potential impact on women’s rights.

Have a read. The days of “I’m alright Jack” are past.

tillytop · 30/08/2018 11:46

Malewomen Do they deliver the post?

Aeroflotgirl · 30/08/2018 12:02

Yes people can be who they want to be, nobody is saying they can't, at an individual level, it's up to the person how they dress and act. It is as a collective worrying, that women's rights and voices are being drowned out by the vocal minority. That is the issue that biological women have. TRAS are using their male power to shut down women, to make them go back into their little box, if they dare disagree with them.

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 30/08/2018 12:05

I'm a straight white woman with no disabilities in a comfortable income bracket - I come from a very privileged position in society so as far as I'm concerned that gives me the responsibility to act like a human being with compassion for others that don't have it so easy.

Exactly. So have compassion for women who are not from such nice backgrounds and are in prison. Or women who are strict Muslims. Or women who have been abused by men. Or young girls who are learning about consent and boundaries. Or lesbians who would like to only sleep with women without being called bigots. Or does your compassion only extend to men?

Frequency · 30/08/2018 12:24

If some people in society feel better about themselves by identifying with the opposite sex, then really, how does this affect you?

I have no issue with men who want to live socially as women and I firmly believe those men should be able to do so free from prejudice and violence. If those men want to transition legally and professionally i.e gain access to things like women's sports, women's prisons, women's refuges then I would like some legal protections in place to make sure those men aren't transitioning for nefarious reasons. Like we used to have before the TRAs took over.

Otherwise we end up with 'women' like this one on female hospital wards, in female prisons and attending camps with our daughters.

The system we had may not have been perfect but it was a lot better than no system at all.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 30/08/2018 12:27

Personally im fed up to the back teeth with explaining that i dont care how someone presents or lives

I dont care what name they go by either

Frequency · 30/08/2018 12:30

And I still like one of the naysayers to explain why it's okay for women to be subjected to this and not other marginalised groups.

Why is it okay for men to become women but it's not okay for a white person to transition to living as a black person or a fully grown man to transition to being a toddler? Or an able bodied person to live as disabled?

Or would those people also accept that?

Stefonknee genuinely believes she is a six year old girl Who are we to deny that if it's what she feels inside?

loveyouradvice · 30/08/2018 12:33

Quiz please read... you are exactly the kind of person who needs to understand why it will affect so many women and especially girls....

Do read this and other threads... and I imagine something will resonate - whether it is the impact on women's sport ...

So many of us were where you are just a few months ago - wanting to be supportive of trans people and not seeing why it is an issue... and now deeply horrified by what is actually happening and how many women and girls it is already hurting .. let alone those who will become vulnerable....

Lots of info in Feminist chatroom - including looking at basic issues from the start - which is where we all were

And before anyone mentions how hard it used to be to get a GRC and hormone therapy, it should be hard for people to gain access to drugs that will leave them infertile, it should be hard for people to have operations to remove or mutilate healthy, functioning body parts and it should be hard for someone with a functioning penis to access vulnerable women.

Considering that less than 1% of people suffer genuine gender dysphoria, my daughter has three trans friends. It's becoming a trend and an easy way for young women to escape sexual harassment and young gay men to escape ridicule. Do we really want these confused youngsters to have easier access to drugs which will make them infertile?

RedDogsBeg · 30/08/2018 12:58

Ah QuizzlyBear straight from the "I'm all right Jack" school of thought whilst trying to dress it up as being so caring and compassionate.

The ignorance of these two statements and their juxtaposition:

how does it affect you / as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.

You carry on in your little, privileged, enclose, safe bubble QuizzlyBear whilst others far less fortunate bear the brunt of your responsibility to act like a human being with compassion for others that don't have it so easy which you apply so selectively.

BertrandRussell · 30/08/2018 13:05

"But as usual, this is a trigger subject for anyone who enjoys a bit of outrage... "
I think that trans people should be able to live their lives peacefully and unharassed and protected by law. I do not think that male bodied people should be able to compete in women and girls sports. What's your view on that?

I’m pretty sure women don’t have penises. It’s a male organ because it’s often called a John Thomas, a Percy and is used for Rogering.

Aeroflotgirl · 30/08/2018 13:35

It is a biological fact that a woman which is an adult biological Female does not have a penis. You cannot alter that, Females are not born with a penis (unless there is a medical disorder). The TRAS activists like to do away with biology and fact, to suit their own agenda, and get very aggressive when this is pointed out to them. Shouting people mainly women down, and asserting their male authority over them. One well known TRA is India Hicks who was in CBB. They have no interest in hearing others opinions, as they are right. No interest in woman's issues or history and struggle.
