Fascinating thread. To my mind pjs and nighties are for kids, adults sleep naked. I do have a dressing gown type thing though which I would throw on in the event of a fire or such.

BillywilliamV · 25/08/2018 21:16

I wear two pairs, originally to help support my stomach muscles after the doc cut a chunk out of my stomach fat to build me a new left breast. That was a year ago so now I do it because I think something bad might happen if I don't.

I can’t sleep without knickers. I have tried but I always wake up repeatedly. I always have to wear a top as well, even if it is a tiny vest. Neither my nipples or my vulva likes the feel of air at night it seems.

Most of the month I get a fair volume if discharge anyway, so I’d be forever washing pyjamas Blush

I find it helps to have something to stick my incontinence pads to Hmm

theunsure · 25/08/2018 21:23

Meant to also add, always clean knickers for bed. I have super comfy 100% cotton bikini’s for sleeping in.

It's weird then that so many shops sell pjs for adults then isn't it?

Rebecca36 · 25/08/2018 21:35

I thought everyone did (they do come off during the night for recreation).

Soontobe60 · 25/08/2018 21:37

When younger wore nothing in summer and t shirt in winter. No pants. Now I'm much older, I wear PJ bottoms as I can't stand my legs sticking together when I get hot and sweaty. So need clean pants underneath, or else I'd need a clean pair of bottoms every day!
On top, a nice strappy camisole from M and S to keep the bosom under control.
My DH also used to be naked, but when children came along took to wearing boxers in bed.
Strangely, he now wears PJ bottoms too but without boxers!

XingMing · 25/08/2018 21:37

I 've slept naked for as long as I can remember, except in other people's homes. IN my house, my rules; I do keep a dressing gown behind every bedroom door in case visitors forget to bring one. When DS woke up at night, I grabbed anything to hand. It helps that I wake early, so am usually decent before subjecting anyone (except DH) to a glimpse of my ageing bod!

bananafish81 · 25/08/2018 21:39

Do you naked sleepers not get cold?

In winter I wear PJ bottoms (with pants underneath) + long sleeves top + socks + jumper (+13.5 tog duvet and heating set to 20 overnight). And that's under the covers, let alone getting out of bed for a wee during the night.

In the height of the heatwave I did sleep without a t shirt, but still wore boxers. Have tried sleeping naked many times but just really isn't for me!

Helendee · 25/08/2018 21:42

Surely you only air your vag if you sleep with legs akimbo? No air is getting there otherwise. Smile

sizeofalentil · 25/08/2018 21:43

Because I co-sleep with our baby and got freaked out waking up to her foot-combing my overgrown muff with her wiggly little toes.

CatLadyToddlerMother · 25/08/2018 21:43

Because I feel naked without

FourteenCows · 25/08/2018 21:46

My cats sleep under covers with me and I don’t trust them, I need protection!

bananafish81 · 25/08/2018 21:50

If you wear pants in bed are they clean ones just for bed or are they the ones you have worn all day? and do you have 2 pairs on each day? clean ones morning and for bed? I shower in the morning and have a bath or shower each evening before bed so my body is perfectly clean without pants.

Wearing the same knickers I'd been wearing all day to bed would be grim!

I have a stack of cotton boxers in a drawer with my nightwear, along with a stack of pyjama bottoms, and sleep t-shirts and long sleeved tops. Plus different socks for evening - wearing the socks I'd been wearing to work in bed would be minging

Clean boxers, socks and top for bed every night. Pants under PJs means can wear PJ bottoms for a few nights without needing a fresh pair every day

Wafflenose · 25/08/2018 21:53

Most of the time I wear just pants and a vest top to bed. If it's really cold I'll wear a pair of pyjamas, but don't wear pants with them because I don't see the point. Who wants to go to bed fully clothed?!

Someone asked about DCs when they outgrow night nappies... I truly have no clue whether the DCs wear pants under their PJs or not, and don't really care.

mildshock · 25/08/2018 21:54

I always wear pants and tshirt to bed. Full length pyjamas are too warm for me, and the unexpected period happens far more often than I'd like.

mikado1 · 25/08/2018 21:54

Dare I throw in 'How often do you change your pyjamas?' to this debate?!

iMatter · 25/08/2018 21:57

I have night pants and day pants.

I never wear day pants at night and vice versa.

Day pants are fancier than night pants.

Those are my rules Smile

Magnussen · 25/08/2018 21:58

I see threadworms was mentioned upthread

Worms need containing.... and so do the eggs. Would you want your DH rolling in worm eggs and getting himself infested as well? Well actually, if one had them then likely the other does too

Wafflenose · 25/08/2018 21:59

Ooh, how posh iMatter!

bananafish81 · 25/08/2018 22:10

iMatter high five! my day knickers are simple black briefs - my sleep pants are much more adventurous (bright and colourful patterned uniqlo boy shorts, insanely comfortable!)

ilovepixie · 25/08/2018 22:13

Would any of you sit on your sofa with a bare bum?

Yes.

SeptimusQuench · 25/08/2018 22:17

cheesefield I initially though BK stood for beef curtains 🤢

Hilarious replies. Gimp suits and “crispy drips” from men 😆 maybe my husband is unusual in that he doesn’t suffer from this affliction? If I insisted he wore pants in bed he would probably leave me.
