Sex towel

Not really an AIBU but I wanted opinions on this.

A colleague of mine told me that she lays a towel down every time her and her husband have sex. She was pretty disgusted with me when I confessed that I don't undertake in such a practice, so I was wondering; am I doing this wrong?! Is a sex towel a thing??

I'm always amazed that people discuss this sort of stuff. I have absolutely no friends with whom I discuss the intricacies of their sex lives (and yes, before anyone says it, I do have friends... Wink)

XiCi · 24/08/2018 19:03

What happens when you move around? Does she have to keep stopping to readjust the towel? I'm imagining someone rigidly lying on a towel not moving until the messy business is all over Grin and what if its spontaneous, in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning, does she halt proceedings to run for a towel? God, some people are strange

Jenjenyeahyeah · 24/08/2018 19:03

They must be some very careful, precise sex they’re having. What happens if one gets excited and accidentally rolls off the sex placemat? Do they freak out and resume the lights off, socks on, on the towel position before resuming?

Dahlietta · 24/08/2018 19:04

Jenjen, perhaps it's a bathsheet Grin

Governoress86 · 24/08/2018 19:05

What happens if they pull out and shotgun everywhere?

BrutusMcDogface · 24/08/2018 19:07

I know it's not what you meant but I've now got a mental image of some random naked woman rolling all the way to the loo.

This made me laugh! I think I'm going to like this thread!! Grin

We don't use a sex towel

easterholidays · 24/08/2018 19:08

We use one for period sex too. You don't have to be that careful about not moving, it's a bath towel, not a flannel. It's a lot less hassle to wash a towel than to wash newly-changed bedding! And no more damaging to spontaneity (sp?) than e.g. putting a condom on (which we also do, and we STILL manage to have unplanned sex!).

Jenjenyeahyeah · 24/08/2018 19:08

Dahlietta - or a hand towel if she’s feeling tired and not up for moving much 😆

FourteenCows · 24/08/2018 19:09

I actually do have a towel Blush admittedly I’m quite inexperienced but I don’t want to sleep in jizz and other bodily fluids, that’s the reason behind it. Trying to relax on it though as it is a bit clinical!

LoisCommonDenominator84 · 24/08/2018 19:09

Yes, we put the bath sheet down, cover with paper towels, have sex through a hole in a blanket then I immediately wash everything in bleach while DH rubs hand sanitiser on his knob. It’s totally normal.

QueenDoris · 24/08/2018 19:10

Sex trowel? Sounds odd

ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName · 24/08/2018 19:11

I had an ex who would keep a kitchen roll next to the bed for the clean up. Bloody grim. Also he kept it in his bedside table so you’d know when he was in the mood because you’d come up to the bedroom and see he had taken it out. He was a creepy guy anyway and I had forgotten this detail until I read this thread. Shudder.

RaspberryRipple1963 · 24/08/2018 19:12

I was going to say I expect she has a penis beaker too,but other posters have beaten me to it!

Crunchymum · 24/08/2018 19:14

I mean I guess it avoids the wet patch? But God what a passion killer.

happymummy12345 · 24/08/2018 19:14

We do most of the time to save changing the bed. But there has been times when we haven't, meaning I was changing the sheet at daft o clock in the morning, that's a bigger faff

Sparklingbrook · 24/08/2018 19:15

Dahlietta I agree. I don't discuss my sex life with anyone, not even my best friend.

PortiaCastis · 24/08/2018 19:15

Oh jesus regina blitzing the knob has got to be grim

Pepper123123 · 24/08/2018 19:15

We have a sex towel. If I didn't put one down I'd need to change the sheet each time. My fault, not his.

However, I don't think anything of people who don't use one. Some couples don't need to, some are.....messier.

Why would it be disgusting not to use a towel? It's sex between you and your partner.

Sparklingbrook · 24/08/2018 19:16

Sex trowel? Sounds odd

Trowel? Shock

Crunchymum · 24/08/2018 19:16

My towels are in a cupboard by the bathroom. Our bedroom is 27 stairs above. I'd be too tired for the actual sex if I ran off to get a towel Grin

Sparklesocks · 24/08/2018 19:17

How does it work, when you are snogging/heavy petting do you have to stop and say ‘wait!! Let me get the towel out!!’.

Also would you lay the towel out ahead of time so your partner knows you’re up for it??

toothtruth · 24/08/2018 19:17

any man worth his salt will sleep on the wet patch and give you the dry bit of the bed without complaint... so this should not be an issue

MazDazzle · 24/08/2018 19:17

I met my DH when I was a teen. His DM was happy for me to stay over, but soon got fed up of washing the sheets (she’d check them after I left!), so used to leave a small hand towel folded neatly by the side of the bed.Confused

I might add that my DH was 23 at the time! Shock

PortiaCastis · 24/08/2018 19:18

This reminds me of the sex lube and a fish slice thread

PrincessConsuelaBannanaHammock · 24/08/2018 19:18

No we don't use a sex towel, do you move the towel about with you if you happen to move?
I don't have period sex though, might use a towel then if we did!
