To keep a handbag I’ve found?

So on my walk this morning I found a Primark handbag in an alleyway. It’s clearly brand new but without tags. There’s nothing in it and it doesn’t look like it has been used at all.
It’s still there now, AIBU to take it? It’s really nice!

See should have just done what your gut told you!!!
I would have taken it without a second thought!!!!

charliebear78 · 23/08/2018 19:23

Someone probably picked it up hoping to find some money inside and tossed it in a huff!!!

Nesssie · 23/08/2018 19:23

I have no idea, what was the point? It does seem to be used as a rubbish tip though. I left it hanging on the gate. I was gone about an hour. I even cut the dog walk short and hurried back once I’d got the ok from MN to keep it.

I seriously considered climbing the gate but was embarrassed incase anyone saw.

I’m strangely disappointed.

Anyone saying 'just take it'.... That's a criminal offence... Theft by finding...

Well she's been saved from committing that heinous offence.

RoseWhiteTips · 23/08/2018 19:28

Nice handbag + Primark - surely oxymoronic!

brighteyeowl17 · 23/08/2018 19:29

What on earth is theft by finding? How can you steal something that didn’t have an owner?

InspectorIkmen · 23/08/2018 19:30

All that’s missing from this thread is a “log it with 101” and that’s probably here somewhere.
Loving the ‘wow just wow’ upthread. Fucks sake. Really? That wow just wow’ thing is so tired. Can’t believe someone actually said that! Grin

Sturmundcalm · 23/08/2018 19:30

i think it's a crime against the environment that now it's been chucked into somewhere you can't get it and it will be sent to landfill...

user1491678180 · 23/08/2018 19:33

Ba ha ha ha ha!!! Grin Barely 5 posts in, and there was already a WOW JUST WOW! By @quickerthanavicar

That is well up there in the top 10 naffest, most ridiculous things people say on here.

And 'this PRIMARK handbag may have been involved in a massive grand heist!' Grin

This place is batshit sometimes!!!

Yeah keep it @Nesssie If there was no receipt in it, and no belongings, then just keep it. Do you think if you take it back to Primark, that they will return it to the 'owner?' Will they fuck?!

You found it, it was mean to be. You enjoy it my lovely. Smile

@Iamthedevilsavocada

Anyone saying 'just take it'.... That's a criminal offence... Theft by finding...

Call 101/take it to police station... Some one may be looking to find it!

Please, PLEASE, PLEASE say you are joking?!

Otherwise, that a horrendous and ridiculous waste of police resources that is!!!

LadyRussell · 23/08/2018 19:38

It’s Primani ffs not Armani.

Take it.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 23/08/2018 19:39

Yeah I’m kind of on the it’s a primark bag that no one gives a shit about.

It’s got nothing in it wtf so people think the police are gonna do with a bag worth about a tenner?

RingtheBells · 23/08/2018 19:40

Unfortunately as OP didn’t take it it has now been fly tipped by some twat who saw it was empty and chucked it away

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 23/08/2018 19:46

I don't quite get the logic behind, 'ffs sake TAKE THE BAG, it's just a shitty Primark one.' So if it's a more expensive one, then the OP should...report to the police? Leave it alone?

It's either okay to take or it's not. It's not okay to take because it's a crappy Primark one - it might still have cost someone the fiver they saved from very little money to buy as a treat to themselves. Only people who can afford a better quality bag should get it back?

I'm not sure I agree with that really, on reflection.

mumsastudent · 23/08/2018 19:46

suppose its someone's treasure/or a present (cos they don't have much) & it slipped out of shopping bag? fell off a bike or thrown away by jealous sibling or the kid was bullied (etc etc) & some other kids threw it away? Talk to police station/email them BUT our police wont take lost property. However our towns local facebook group have put out things found - don't give description - just say where you found it on the facebook & let them contact you. If no one does after (6 weeks it used to be?) than...it yours legally morally & every other way! :)

Juells · 23/08/2018 19:48

Never mind, it's dumped now. As was always going to happen if nobody picked it up and recycled it.

TheHobbitMum · 23/08/2018 19:49

I wouldn't lose sleep over a discarded primark bag to be honest. If it was used with personal items inside then it would be a different matter entirely. It was probably nicked and chucked

Nicknacky · 23/08/2018 19:50

bamboo What are you talking about? Claiming items for themselves?

I investigate bag snatched (or robbery as it’s also known as) and I would be delighted to hear a report of a found bag and very interested in it. At worst it’s just a lost bag and there is no harm lost reporting it to 101.

StrangeLookingParasite · 23/08/2018 19:52

really? wow, just wow op.

Hmm
bringincrazyback · 23/08/2018 19:54

I'd have had the same moral dilemma in your shoes, I have to confess. Grin At least as it was a Primark bag you can hopefully pick up an identical one cheap as chips!

kakekakekakekale · 23/08/2018 19:55

i know this is weird but your not by any chance in Essex I lost my bag on the way back from holiday it's beautifully kept so looks new had nothing inside all my valuables were in hoilday bags .was just hanging on the back of my pram and I put it down near an alleyway as was searching for my keys and put everything dpwn ...not primark small dkny one black with a long strap ?

percheron67 · 23/08/2018 20:00

I found a Jaeger handbag left in a trolley when I was about to shop at Waitrose. Went to reception and handed it in. I went back to reception a little later and asked if they had traced the owner. It turned out there was nothing inside to identify the owner and the thinking was that the bag had been stolen from someone and the dumped in the trolley. I learn everyday!!

Furiosa · 23/08/2018 20:07

Yesterday DS found 3 handbags behind a bush in a supermarket carpark. They were all empty but we gave them to security. In my mind they were the unwanted parts of theft/mugging.

It's happened to me. I know my money, id, etc is gone but i'd love my bag back. DP got it for me for christmas Sad

AnnieAnoniMoose · 23/08/2018 20:08

Clionba · 23/08/2018 20:11

@Nesssie - please take a photo of said bag. I'm very curious about what it looks like!
