To think Chandler and Monica have their priorities wrong in Friends?

I love them together, but they blow every penny of Chandler’s savings on the wedding, and a few episodes later Chandler isn’t being paid and they have to borrow thousands from Joey. It’s unreasonably annoyed me. Why would you spend your entire safety net on one day?! I know I'm over invested.

They presented Joey as such a likeable guy, yet the way he treated women was appalling.

So true. But he got away with it because he was seen as dim and lovable.

And to give him his due, for the whole two weeks that he was with Rachel he didn't cheat on her once.

Barney in HIMYM was much worse because he was Joey with a brain, far more devious and calculating.

You've got this all completely wrong. Watch the episode again. He talks her out of blowing the savings. I know my Friends!

Barney was awful but I loved him. NPH is a brilliant actor. Nothing suits me like a suit is the highlight of all the seasons.

And just like when the tried to put joey with Rachel ... putting Barney with robin was just wrong.

It had so many brilliant one-liners. It was really well written
When Phoebe is asked for a favour: "I wish I could but I don't want to."
Or Rachel:
"Oh my God. I've become my father. I've been trying so hard not to become my mother, I didn't see this coming."

Did anyone else notice that joey seemed to get dumber and dumber as the years went on?! Really bugs me!

Someone pointed out to me that Phoebe is always mean and rude. I didn't believe them but watching episodes again made me realise it's true!

Phoebe is horrible alright. The one where she gives Rachel a hard time for using a gift voucher for a corporate spa then ends up working there. Nasty hypocrite.

Yes. It was apparently a suggestion by the actor (made in season... 2? Idk).

I think he was originally meant to be a bit single-minded (food, women, acting) but not actually genuinely stupid.

Maybe. But killing Ted's wife just so they could be together again was imo sort of worse.

The first two HIMYM seasons were great imo. I then stopped watching and restarted with the last season...

The Gellers should have had more faith in Monica getting married and not spent her wedding fund, then Chandler's savings wouldn't have had to be spent on the wedding

They don't blow all his savings on the wedding, she asks him to, they have a fight when he refuses, he then offers too and she says no that they will go for something smaller because she wants a marriage with him and the house and kids like he had imagined.

It was a totally different time-I remember standing waiting for a bus and everyone at the stop was freaking out to get home to see who Ross would marry!! Adored Friends but hated when the characters started to 'grow up,' people can argue but I think the infertility was their jumping the shark and they should have been done by then

The writers did seem to make Joey more stupid, Phoebe's occasional "edge" overtook her gentle hippy side and upping Monica's controlling/shrillness. I think Rachel's character got the best progression.

People - as my hubby always says it’s not real!! I love Friends as much as the next person but it’s just a show!!

I thought one of the reasons Chandler was hopeless with women was because he was crap in bed (until Monica taught him the erogenous zones)!
