To worry that hoovering the bathroom is unhygienic

I have a guy painting my bathroom today and when I came back from the shops he was hoovering the floor where he'd been doing some sanding.

AIBU to feel a bit squeamish at the thought of hoovering my kitchen and the rest of the house with a hoover that's been used near where the toilet's been flushed?

For once really hope I get told I'm being daft.

Um yeah, you're being very very daft.

Dermymc · 16/08/2018 16:04

WTF of course you are being daft. How do you normally clean your bathroom?

Yes, you are being daft. You should put the lid down when you flush the toilet anyway.

Chelseajunior · 16/08/2018 16:05

V daft lol

donajimena · 16/08/2018 16:05

Yes you are being daft. Its easier to mop before vacuuming though. Mop, use the wet mop broom style then when its dry vac up the detritus.

liz70 · 16/08/2018 16:05

Yes, you're daft. Smile I regularly hoover dust from my bathroom fittings. Hoovers are meant to clear crap off floors and other places. Just don't drop the nozzle down the toilet pan!

CarefullyDrawnMap · 16/08/2018 16:05

Charles what now?

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/08/2018 16:05

Eating it is far more unhygienic Grin

DownAtFraggleRock · 16/08/2018 16:05

WTF? How do you pick up fluff and pubes if you don't hoover the bathroom?

Lydiaatthebarre · 16/08/2018 16:05

Water I meant. Yeah my mum's just told me I'm daft as well.

What exactly do you think is going be the problem with using the same hoover for the whole house.

I sweep my bathroom and kitchen floors and use a mop to wash them. I don't have separate brooms and mops for bathrooms and kitchen.

Ginkypig · 16/08/2018 16:07

I do hoover in there when I'm too lazy to sweep but I do occasionally have the same thought. Then I tell myself off for being daft.

MeeWhoo · 16/08/2018 16:07

Completely different issue, but please take into account that if you hoover very fine dust, such as brick dust, etc it can clog the motor of the vacuum cleaner and ruin it.
A bit of sanding dust is probably fine, though.

Lydiaatthebarre · 16/08/2018 16:07

I always put the lid down but I'm not sure others do. Does that change anyone's opinion Shock

You’re being daft

OutPinked · 16/08/2018 16:11

You’re being daft. Empty the hoover if it makes you feel so squeamish Confused. Pat him on the back for actually tidying up for you, I’ve never experienced this from a workman.

MrsJayy · 16/08/2018 16:12

I am assuming your floor was not swimming in pee before the hoovering? I have a hairy dog i have to hoover everywhere you are being a bit daft it is honestly normal to hoover a bathroom floor

butterflysugarbaby · 16/08/2018 16:13

Yep a bit daft. Smile

MrsJayy · 16/08/2018 16:15

See when you use the toilet do you have special bathroom shoes if not you are trailing your imaginary nasties about the house on your feet just a thought for you Wink
