After all this recent stuff. Please could we have someone else and make labour electable again. Why is he still there and do we think he still will be for the forseeable?

Labour have form for picking bad leaders. They chose the wrong Milliband too.

NameChangedAgain18 · 16/08/2018 08:09

He has lettge rasicts in his party run wild

Let’s not forget the misogynists as well.

Gaspodethetalkingdog · 16/08/2018 08:09

I think the labour people are attempting to construct a middle of the road party for the future that might be electable - ie no Corbyn/Abbotts/Lady Nugee types - and no mention of the dreadful Blair ..

thereareflowersinmygarden · 16/08/2018 08:16

Oh well, how does it go? A country gets the government it deserves? We certainly have to go by this thread.

OrdinarySnowflake · 16/08/2018 08:17

ShatnersWig - they also have form of holding on to losers rather than sticking the knife in like the Tories to.

E.g. it was so clear that Brown wouldn't win, but rather than get rid and go to the country with someone fresh and interesting, they just let the Tories take it and wait for him to resign. Their loyalty to losers is sweet, but fucks us all over.

Childrenofthesun · 16/08/2018 08:18

It’s important to have an opposition party that actually opposes the government and manages their party rather than attend rallies of their devoted followers

An opposition party with a leader that people feel confident in voting for to be PM someone who could lead the UK

This is the nub of the matter. Any decent (and even not decent!) opposition should be all over Tories in the polls with the shambles they are making of Brexit coupled with austerity.

Re people mentioning the NHS and schools, of course we care about them and that is why the current opposition is such a joke. What have they done to oppose any of the Tory policies? Where are they with the dire state of school funding? I work in education and follow the news closely and have no idea what Labour policy on schools is and couldn't name the shadow education secretary without googling.

I think someone is biding their time in the wings. I like Yvette Cooper but think it will have to be someone for the new generation. I think someone upthread mentioned Dan Jarvis wasn't an MP anymore. I thought they allowed him to carry on being an MP even though he was now a mayor? I remember reading about him at the time of the last leadership contest and how he was the one person the Tories were scared of because as an ex-soldier he was the type of person who would appeal to Tory voters. I have no idea if he'd stand though and don't imagine he'd be popular among Momentum supporters.

SeaWitchly · 16/08/2018 08:18

I am a Labour member because of Corbyn not in spite of him.
And I believe Labour will win the next GE if Corbyn is still leader. Not sure why anyone would stoop to vote for the Tories what with May, BJ, Gove, Hunt, Rees Moggs and co running the show.

Janni01 · 16/08/2018 08:21

Don't know how Corbyn can lose a general election, run a shit opposition, be seen to be anti Semitic, not apologise for it, be known to have met with terrorist groups, and people would stillborn for him?

Janni01 · 16/08/2018 08:21

Still vote not stillborn.

ShatnersWig · 16/08/2018 08:22

*OrdinarySnowflake Quite. And how long did they keep Kinnock in place?

Metoodear · 16/08/2018 08:22

I just can’t see how anyone who votes labour things he is good enough

He’s already lost and election sorry he won didn’t heGrin

He also has to convince Centerist Tory’s like me

Thing is he’s to busy at rallies trying to be down with the yooof

Do you think he can win me over

I am black
Female
And working class

i think if he can’t get his shit together about the Jews then it’s unlikey he can help black people

I think he’s has thrown women under the bus to appease the trans lot

And I think they send their children to dulwich collage and tiffin and really expect me to belive that they have my best interest at heart when they stop grammers so my children can’t attend

They go on about how immigration is awsome but almost always live in the whitest and wealthy part of their LA

SilboCanary · 16/08/2018 08:22

If Labour want to talk about education and the NHS then why doesn't Corbyn agree to be interviewed and then tell us what his policies are? It's bizarre to be the leader of the opposition and then refuse to be interviewed on TV!

SillySallySingsSongs · 16/08/2018 08:23

And I believe Labour will win the next GE if Corbyn is still leader.

He won't. He couldn't win against a very week government last time.

He needs to win over swing and Tory voters to win. That isn't going to happen.

Getting more votes in Labour strongholds makes no difference whatsoever

Metoodear · 16/08/2018 08:24

They already did vote Tory did you miss the last GE Confused

So it’s a matter of him just thinking his time will come of he hangs in their long enough rather than being good I am a Center Tory

And have just told you I will never vote for labour while Corbyn is in charge

birdsdestiny · 16/08/2018 08:25

The trouble with the waiting in the wings to reclaim the Labour party is that they have left it too late. I am almost as furious with the centre as I am with momentum. By not speaking out, and challenging corbyn they are complicit in wrecking the party I have voted for all my adult life. My patience with them is wearing very thin .

Metoodear · 16/08/2018 08:25

this he could literally get 100% vote in labour strong holds but then he will be a two time looser

OrdinarySnowflake · 16/08/2018 08:30

Seawitch- so why didn't he win last time? You know, when May didn't even bother showing up?

Tories won't make that mistake next time. He'll be up against a slick campaign, probably with a new leader.

Can't see many people who voted Tory last time voting for him. And that's who he has to win over.

OrdinarySnowflake · 16/08/2018 08:43

Op - in answer to your question, because Labour never give losers the boot.

Because Labour members would rather be ideologically pure than in power to actually help people.

Because Labour members feel being loyal is more important than improving working class people's lives, so anyone trying to get rid of Corbyn for the good of the nation will be treated with contempt.

So we have to wait for Corbyn to quit/die. Labour leaders don't get fired. It doesn't matter how bad it gets.

lostincake · 16/08/2018 08:55

Because all the racists still support him.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 16/08/2018 08:58

I thought brexit was going to make working class lives better?

If we can’t vote Labour because of allegations of misdemeanours and discrimination then surely we can’t vote Tory either?

And if millions feel this way as some suggest then it should be a Lib Dem or Green Party landslide at the next election.

What I actually suspect is we are being asked to turn a blind eye to the Tories appalling record over the last 8 years but hold everyone else accountable.

Brexit will destroy the country anyway so let it be on the Tories watch.

Neshoma · 16/08/2018 09:03

Labour didn't make enough 'gains' to go to the press and brag about it.

They mainly held their seats with fewer votes. (thats why they didn't go the press)

Oh, and DAbbot who had to be withdrawn from the election campaign because she's stupid diabetic. TMay is diabetic but manages to run the country and host world leaders. Labour are a bunch of muppets.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 16/08/2018 09:04

T May running a country? Lol. Only if you judge success by the number of people using foodbanks.

TerfsUp · 16/08/2018 09:05

I loathed Corbyn from the very start and he has not shown me any reason to change my views.

His ego and lack of leadership will continue to drive supporters away from the Labour Party. But as long as his ego - and that of wee Owen - continue to be stroked, it's all good.

jasjas1973 · 16/08/2018 09:28

It wouldn't matter who Labour had in charge, when it was Brown, he was criticised by the media over his off-air comments
Kinnock was lampooned because he tripped over on a beach!
When it was Miliband, the press ripped into him because of how he ate a 'burger.
Corbyn gets called racist & anti-Semite for his support for the Palestinians, May sells missiles to the Saudis which they ve used to blow up civilians and thats all perfectly ok.

Liam Fox had to resign because he was deemed a threat to national security, yet a few years later is our international trade sec.

Yet it is JC who is the threat to the nation!!!!

GhostofFrankGrimes · 16/08/2018 09:33

yy, jasjas. Electing the wrong Milliband is such a cliche. Nobody can tell me what the difference between ed and David was.

Very little outrage over the “man who hated Britain”headline either. It was JC who defended Ralph milliband. Establishment double standards.
