So currently, in our house we have

Me
DH
DS
DSD1
DSD2

MIL
SIL
SIL
DNephew
DNiece
DNiece

FOR TWO WEEKS

WIBU to have to unexpectedly stay super late at work?
The real kicker is that SIL has a phobia of dogs so my best pal, DDog, has had to stay at a (very nice dog loving) colleagues house Sad. Should I just go with the dog?!

Honestly, I get on well with the family but it's just so much. It's DSD2's bday this week and the first time we've had her for it so I understand everyone wants to be here. But for two weeks?! Argh

Anyone got any tips how to deal with so many guests? I'm running out of towels 🤣

Someone I know once organised click and collect then said she was doing ‘massive grocery shop’ - had two hours off, grabbed groceries from c&c on way home.

Btw I’m not suggesting it’s your duty to take on boring domestic tasks, just from long experience with large family and visitors I know all the socially acceptable /unarguable tricks.

So I made 3 huge lasagnes yesterday Grin they went down well. Now MIL has said she's happy to take on cooking duties for a while, DH can't wait cos no one cooks like Ma 🤣.

It's very likely I will put on a stone in two weeks though

The kitchen was also spotless when I came back from work and was cleaned by the masses after dinner.

So really I could have a lot more to complain about.... so far so good!

Oh and I barely iron my own clothes so no one else has a chance!

In the circumstances it seems like you have nice and helpful guests and DH is also doing his bit, it will be tiring but hopefully fun. (I'm one of the weird people like your DH who loves a houseful). Good luck OP

That sounds absolutely horrendous.

I'd last five minutes.

MIL is coming for 4 weeks soon. I usually stay late at work, or find things to do. She’s lovely but it’s full on sharing a 2 bed apartment with her when we have 2 DS.
This time we have a DD and I am on maternity leave. There is no escape Confused

2 weeks OP! I'd be short circuiting thru lack of quiet down time. Whatever gets u thru do it. Poor dog, can you visit him, that'd give you time out & doggy fix.

It sounds like you are doing a really lovely thing for your step kids OP :) Hope you have some fun times, and can escape to your dog if it gets a bit much!
