Aibu to be worried about my 5yo dad having hairy legs?

She has very blonde (gold even!) but very thick hairy legs. I just don’t get it. I’m not a hairy person at all (I maybe shave my legs once a month when they get prickly? I have no visible arm hair) so I find it worrying. Is it something to worry about or can it be normal?

Your 5yr old dad?? Grin

TheCatFromOuterSpace · 13/08/2018 20:55

I'd be more worried that your 5 year old is a dad Grin

MereDintofPandiculation · 13/08/2018 20:56

It's normal, surely? I find the idea of no visible arm hair quite strange.

HelpmeobiMN · 13/08/2018 20:57

Some people just have more body hair than others. Unless she has other symptoms that don’t seem normal I wouldn’t worry too much. I would try not to let her know you’re worried, or she might get self conscious about it.

DidimusStench · 13/08/2018 20:57

I noticed this about my 5yo the other day but surely you know that most people have body hair naturally? Of course you shouldn’t be worried.

Nicknacky · 13/08/2018 20:58

Why wouldn’t she have hair on her legs?

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 13/08/2018 21:00

My 8 year old DD is blonde with hairy legs, was worrying about it the other day but it's pointless really. She hasn't mentioned it so will deal with it if it crops up as a problem for her.

Fang2468 · 13/08/2018 21:00

Is her dad hairy? I wouldn’t spend any time worrying, and she may not like it when she’s older, but it seems quite normal to me.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 13/08/2018 21:01

It’s normal. What do you think people will say - wax it?

ShirleyPhallus · 13/08/2018 21:01

Wow, how old was daddy when he had you?

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 13/08/2018 21:01

Children’s bodies are perfect the way they are.

Ellieboolou27 · 13/08/2018 21:02

My 6yo dd has very hairy legs, I’m fair and hardly need to shave, it’s normal, dont give her a complex.
My brother and dh have both commented on dd’s hairy legs in front of her and I went crazy. Totally normal.

Quartz2208 · 13/08/2018 21:02

Yes most 5 year olds do have leg hair (both of mine did/do)

Thesearmsofmine · 13/08/2018 21:02

It’s normal! My 7 year old is really hairy, his back has lots of dark hair!

tomhazard · 13/08/2018 21:05

Why would you worry? It's normal to have hair on the legs. My 5 year old DD is dark skinned and dark haired and has very visible leg hair. I don't care and neither does she at the moment.

Urubu · 13/08/2018 21:06

My 5yo DD does as well, and she has dark brown hair Sad I just hope she doesn’t get teased about it.

keepingbees · 13/08/2018 21:06

I don't think it's anything to worry about. My dd of a similar age is very hairy. She's not dark haired but has very thick hair and it's quite noticeable on her legs and arms. Some children have pointed it out at school so I'm worried of her getting concerned about it or bullied, but health wise it's just the way she is.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 13/08/2018 21:08

My DS is 6 and his legs are harier than mine. You could comb the hairs on his back. He's been that way since he was a baby and is quite proud of it.

ShirleyPhallus · 13/08/2018 21:09

Children’s bodies are perfect the way they are.

That’s lovely Smile

WinterBerry7 · 13/08/2018 21:12

Sorry I know it’s not the point but I’m so jealous that you barely have to shave your legs once a month!
I could shave mine in the morning and they’d be prickly again by bedtime Confused

WinterBerry7 · 13/08/2018 21:13

But back to the point. I had lots of darkish hair on my legs as a kid. Never really bothered me. Also had hairy arms. Never had any comments that I can recall.

ShellsBells76 · 13/08/2018 21:15

Nothing to worry about at all, DD8 is very hairy, DD13 you can barely see a hair on her, DH and I are both very dark he's not hairy but I am, my youngest has started mentioning it a bit recently due to some girls in her class commenting on it.

AnoukSpirit · 13/08/2018 21:17

Worrying? Really?

Rinoachicken · 13/08/2018 21:18

I noticed this on my nearly 5yo the other day. Also blonde, I think it’s just more noticeable because he’s caught the sun

CommanderDaisy · 13/08/2018 21:23

Hair aside which is perfectly normal by the way, having just been through major surgery with my son who was born with a congenital birth defect that worsened with age, I would disagree with the poster who believes children's bodies are perfect the way they are.
Sometimes nature screws things up.
