So there is a thread about TV characters and it got me thinking. So AIBU to ask what movie really makes you cry?
The Green Mile. The moment when Tom Hanks says "We love you. Can you feel that?"
Sad

Ooooh, and Meet Joe Black

GimbleInTheWabe · 11/08/2018 08:20

I Am Sam

Oh god... I cried and then I cried and then I cried some more

baublegirl454 · 11/08/2018 08:21

There's a film with Emma Thompson in it, no idea what it's called, maybe someone will know? She's a teacher with cancer. It came on tv one night and DH& I started watching with no idea what it was about - oh my goodness, we both properly sobbed, it was devastating. Anyone seen it?
Also Schindler's list, Up and I won't watch sad animal films at all

Haribeau · 11/08/2018 08:21

Crumb502, I called it... Shelby

Moody123 · 11/08/2018 08:22

Marley and me ! I went to the cinima on a first date ... I had snot and tears out of every where !
I didn't get a second date 😂

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 11/08/2018 08:23

I am a hard hearted soul. But last night I went to see Mamma Mia 2 and had tears streaming for a good chunk of it! (No spoilers as it’s just out!)

Babybearsporij · 11/08/2018 08:24

The "Slipping Through my Fingers" scene in Mamma Mia and the end of the new Mamma Mia.
Marley and Me
Steel Magnolias - especially when the bloke comes home to find Shelby dead and the kid is hysterical and the bit at the funeral when Sally Field's character is ranting.

Haribeau · 11/08/2018 08:27

Dangerous Minds

Singlebutmarried · 11/08/2018 08:30

Cocoon- where the chap is in the pool trying to bring his wife back to life

Ghost
Marley and me
Gladiator
Green mile
Deathly hallows part 1 and 2
Beaches

There’s loads more too but I can’t think at this time in the morning.

HelpmeobiMN · 11/08/2018 08:30

Stepmom Sad

Timeisslippingaway · 11/08/2018 08:30

Probably every film that could make you slightly sad I will cry. I don't go to the pics to see films that might be sad, coco was a big mistake, my 9 year old son was howling at it aswell.

Caribbeanyesplease · 11/08/2018 08:32

Dumbo
Inside out

Yes my son (8)also cries at films.

I love it! Shows empathy and openness. Good sign for a man I’d say. Both my beloved dad and my ex (we are on very good terms) also fine to openly cry at films and I think it’s brilliamt

PurpleFlower1983 · 11/08/2018 08:36

The Railway Children - I’m not even big fan of the film but if I even see a clip of that last scene (Daddy, my Daddy!) I cry like a lunatic.

Ridingthegravytrain · 11/08/2018 08:36

One flew over the cuckoos nest. Cried loads at the end

PurpleFlower1983 · 11/08/2018 08:36

Up - opening scene

Dumbo

FantailsFly · 11/08/2018 08:37

Shadowlands. I was a blubbering wreck.

poppybell · 11/08/2018 08:41

Yes @baublegirl454 ! The Emma Thompson film is called Wit. I remember sobbing through that, hadn't thought about it in ages. End of Shawshank Redemption also gets me every time. Also Cinema Paradiso.

Babdoc · 11/08/2018 08:41

Another vote for Shadowlands. I saw it too soon after my DH died, and the scene shot from behind them, where they’re sitting in front of the Narnia wardrobe and the kid tells Anthony Hopkins that he misses his recently deceased mum, absolutely finished me.

HappydaysArehere · 11/08/2018 08:42

Wuthering Heights when Laurence Oliver begs Cathy who has just died to haunt him, drive him mad but never leave him. Boo hooo!

IdblowJonSnow · 11/08/2018 08:43

Marley and me Sad
Atonement- the war scenes and when you find out the story was fiction (within the film) and the two main characters didn't have a happy ever after.
The Help - when the maid tells the little girl she is good and kind and then has to leave her - heart breaking.
Brokeback mountain
Time travellers wife - cried uncontrollably through whole film in front of friends who were less moved - embarrassing!

Crunchymum · 11/08/2018 08:45

I am not a dog person, but Marley and Me just got to me.

I was crying long before the damn thing died, as I knew what was coming.

Will never watch that film again.

Timeisslippingaway · 11/08/2018 08:47

baublegirl454
I won't even watch schindlers list or the boy in the stripped pyjamas.

bumblingbovine49 · 11/08/2018 08:47

Shadowlands. Story of CS Lewis meeting and marrying his wife (late in life) and then her developing a terminal illness.

scuttlemama · 11/08/2018 08:51

Me Before You had me sobbing, thankfully we watched it at home. Seven Pounds on the other hand we watched at the cinema and I was still crying when we went to get dinner!
