So there is a thread about TV characters and it got me thinking. So AIBU to ask what movie really makes you cry?
The Green Mile. The moment when Tom Hanks says "We love you. Can you feel that?"
Sad

Steel I am then Furry! As I said, we're all different!

I watched Lassie as a child (and I'm old), it may have made me sad then but not now, unless there's been a film out? ET..... no, just no.

mrsbeeton999 · 11/08/2018 07:23

The fault in our stars
Pete’s dragon
50 First dates

Roussette · 11/08/2018 07:23

And not in a good way

I imagine you wouldn't cry at all of my choices. Certain things get to me, some things don't. It's like humour. We don't all laugh at the same things. Likewise we don't all cry at the same things.

myhousesmellsofIKEA · 11/08/2018 07:23

Gladiator, when he gets home and at the end. Every time. I watch it when I need a good cry now.
Also watched Arrival last night. I was a wreck after the first 5 minutes 😳

itispersonal · 11/08/2018 07:23

My girl
But Imitation of life gets me every time, can just watch clips and I ball with tears

FurryDice · 11/08/2018 07:24

But everyone (with an actual beating heart!) thinks ET is sad!

I found lassie devastating as a child

MrsFassy · 11/08/2018 07:25

Most of the above, but the one that makes me cry uglier than any other has to be The Champ.

FurryDice · 11/08/2018 07:26

It’s not a direct personal attack, @Roussette. Honest

rhubarbfool · 11/08/2018 07:26

Kramer vs Kramer
Dancer in the Dark had me sobbing in the cinema

Roussette · 11/08/2018 07:26

I haven't seen ET for a long long time, didn't really take to it. As far as I remember, it didn't make me sad!

As I said, Lassie made me sad as a child. But I thought we were talking about now and what films?!

Dumbo I found excrutiatingly sad when I was younger!

Roussette · 11/08/2018 07:27

No worries Furry. I know! Grin

Now we're talking... Kramer vs Kramer. That was ugly crying on my part, really ugly!

Murine · 11/08/2018 07:27

My year 4 teacher showed us ET! I’d never seen it before and got the piss ripped out of me for crying 😢

Annamadrigal · 11/08/2018 07:27

Legends of the Fall- it's about 3 hours long (or feels like it)and I ugly-cried through about 95% of it!

DuchessofManchester · 11/08/2018 07:27

The notebook... every time the old couple dance and she comes back to him just for a few minutes then she's gone again. It breaks my heart every time seeing him cry while his wife suffers.

Andtheresaw · 11/08/2018 07:27

The Book Thief

FurryDice · 11/08/2018 07:27

Watersh down. Kill me now

Hooli · 11/08/2018 07:28

There's an Adam Sandler film where he's playing straight for a change called Reign Over Me. It's about a guy who lost his wife and three kids in 9/11. It destroyed me.

FurryDice · 11/08/2018 07:28

Oops, missed off the ‘ip’

EveningShadows · 11/08/2018 07:28

Up - sobbed at the first five minutes Shock.

Ordinary People

Shadowlands

Lion - proper ugly crying.

Roussette · 11/08/2018 07:29

I'm sensing a theme here Furry Grin

FurryDice · 11/08/2018 07:30

Ha. Yeah. It’s always the animals that get to me, Rouss. So Dumbo is right off the list.

Rainatnight · 11/08/2018 07:32

Oh I really need a good cry. This is a great thread.

Pashazade · 11/08/2018 07:33

End of Moulin Rouge
Mamma Mia (3 songs in particular, lost my
Mum when I was a teenager and my best mate more recently so struggle to watch it now)
Beginning of UP
I'm sure there are others!

Haribeau · 11/08/2018 07:37

Beaches
Green mile
Steel magnolias
Armageddon

Annamadrigal · 11/08/2018 07:37

Oh and not a film but I watched it again recently and still feel a bit raw- the ending of Ashes to Ashes!

Cannot watch Stand By Me anymore for the ending as River Phoenix/Chris Chambers walks away and disappears as Older Gordie talks about what happened to him.

Toy Story 3 obvs as Andy says a final goodbye
