So there is a thread about TV characters and it got me thinking. So AIBU to ask what movie really makes you cry?
The Green Mile. The moment when Tom Hanks says "We love you. Can you feel that?"
Sad

I used to break my heart and have full on almost sick sobbing as a child watching Lassie.

So much so that I was banned from watching it!

I can't stress enough for people to watch "before women had wings"

I was an absolute mess

user1andonly · 11/08/2018 07:41

Loads but

Bridge to Terabithia
Railway Children
Goodnight Mr Tom
The Incredible Journey (anything that involves people being reunited with much loved pets and I'm not even a dog or cat person!)
Could hardly breathe by the end of Marley and Me!

This is an ancient one but does anyone remember 'Who will love my children?' OMG!!!!

LaBelleSausage · 11/08/2018 07:41

Beaches & me before you make me really ugly cry. No matter how many times I watch them!

Icantgetnosleep000 · 11/08/2018 07:45

Arrival. First saw it on plane when travelling alone and pregnant. Not easy sobbing quietly!! Then tried to describe it to DH months later and couldn't do it through the tears

First Knight. The bit where Sean Connery is beaten and has to bow and surrender his kingdom in front of the baddies but, in the full knowledge he has lost his wife and will be run through, stands up and shouts 'I urge you to fiiiiiiiight!' (before being run through by said baddies). Sob.

JohnnyKarate · 11/08/2018 07:45

Hachi - A dogs tale. It makes me uncontrollably cry I can't watch it anymore.

Marley and me - Also can't watch it anymore as our current lab is now struggling like Marley does at the end and reminds me too much that I won't have her forever.

Lots of Pixar movies. Up, coco, toy story 3. Inside out - take her to the moon for me!

I cry at a lot at films I'm a bit of a mess really. I howled the house down when mufasa died when I watched Lion king as a child. My mum had to hide the video from me. That was the start of my emotional rollercoaster watching sad movies. I can honestly say I haven't improved.

Actually, just last week I cried while watching batman, when Bruce thought Rachel was going to wait for him, and Alfred burns the letter.

VeganCanBeFabulous · 11/08/2018 07:45

Still Alice - ugly cried, as did DH and then we both had to immediately ring our Mums!

Coco - saw this with DH and both our kids, all four of us where crying by the end.

The last 5 minutes of Captain Phillips

Haribeau · 11/08/2018 07:45

n0ne · 11/08/2018 07:48

Gladiator
Brokeback Mountain
Big Fish
Léon
LotR
In America
Beaches
Cocoon
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

Pretty much any film where someone dies, or there's a doomed love affair etc. I'm a huge crier.

The absolute worst, though, was The Color Purple. That broke me Sad

niceupthedance · 11/08/2018 07:49

A monster calls! And I didn't even take any tissues as I wasn't expecting it

Magnolia gets me as well.

QuarrellingElephants · 11/08/2018 07:50

Homeward Bound, when Peter says 'he was just too old..' Loved it as a kid, bawl my eyes out now!

quackaday · 11/08/2018 07:51

I cry at loads but a film that made me properly ugly cry was Awakenings. I watched it on my own years ago and my DH came home to a total blubbering mess! I've never watched it again.

damag · 11/08/2018 07:51

Terrible movies but specific bits turn me into a mess !

Titanic- where the mother tucks her children in bed knowing they will all die (welling up now just thinking about it)

Love Actually - Emma Thompson finding the necklace.

n0ne · 11/08/2018 07:51

Oh God, Up! That's a masterclass in how to break people's hearts in 5 minutes flat!
