We are binge watching Boardwalk Empire. My favourite character died last night and I was in bits. It was beautifully done and a shocking end to the season.
I haven't felt this way since Thelma and Louise went over the canyon. Sad

I know everyone has said it already, but Pratt’s death in ER, so much more so than marks. It was the fear in his eyes and the way everyone had to just carry on afterwards. Mind you, I cry at every single episode of ER... I need to rewatch.

Joyce in Buffy.

Slightly left of field here, but there’s an Australian teen drama series called Dance Academy on Netflix atm and I binge watched it twice recently during a rough time and when one of the main characters, Sammy liebermann, died I was in BITS. Real body shaking sobs.

Morse, cried when John Thaw died too.
Nana from The Royal Family, and shed a tear when both Liz Smith and Caroline Ahearne died irl.

ApplesinmyPocket · 10/08/2018 23:03

Morse. I knew it was coming as I'd read the book; said to a fellow fan 'I think I'll skip the last one, it will be just too sad.' Friend said 'oh no, you should watch it, you'll be ok about it because it was so well done it felt like the Right Time."

So I watched it. I wasn't OK about it and I wish I'd never seen it Sad

DwangelaForever · 10/08/2018 23:09

Was it Jimmy? I sobbed at that too! (Also no one can complain about spoilers cause the show is so old now Grin)

babybythesea · 10/08/2018 23:15

Beaches finally got a mention, but it took until p10! Would be right up there with one that makes me cry just thinking about it
Ethel's death in Eastenders.
Several that have already been mentioned (Nana in The Royal Family, Steel Magnonlias)
Top of my list though is Matthew in Anne of Green Gables. The version with Meghan Follows. Cry every single time.

CoolCarrie · 10/08/2018 23:17

Oh yes Christopher Eccleston in Cracker, trying to give his evidence as he is dying, I was in bits.

Timeisslippingaway · 10/08/2018 23:19

I recently hinged watched every episode of GOT. I got a little emotional when people died and I did cry at a few of them but I absolutely sobbed my heart out for about and hour after Hodor's horrendous death.

OliviaBenson · 10/08/2018 23:20

Beth in little women.

Drew in neighbours Blush

Mark Greene

The first part of Up! when the wife dies.

The Christmas episode of my so called life gets me every time.

Timeisslippingaway · 10/08/2018 23:20

Oh and nanna in the royal family.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 10/08/2018 23:20

I’m still getting over Barbara in Call The Midwife 😫😭😭😫

Timeisslippingaway · 10/08/2018 23:20

Another one for Beth.

Timeisslippingaway · 10/08/2018 23:23

Oh there was one I watched when I was younger but I can't remember what it was called but a woman tied up her son and locked him in a cupboard with her little baby and left them, by the time anyone found them the little baby had died. That has haunted me ever since. I don't think it was a series though, never the less I sobbed my heart out for a long time.

Timeisslippingaway · 10/08/2018 23:26

This thread is making me well up!

FabulouslyFab · 10/08/2018 23:33

Timeisslippingaway - was that Goodnight Mr Tom?

Shadowboxerbaby · 10/08/2018 23:33

Buffy, Grey's, Dawson's Creek, ER.. all bad for it.. one tree hill when Dan dies and the brother he murdered appears before him to lead him to heaven "your my plus one little brother.. " sob.

MyBrexitUnicornDied · 10/08/2018 23:33

Can't remember which season it's in, but in TWD, when Carol has to shoot the little girl, in the garden....

This is the only thing that made me sob in the Walking Dead. It haunted me for months.

Mark Greene, sobbed and sobbed.

It’s a film but I’ve never cried more than when I watched Arrival. Didn’t think anything could top Marley and Me.

TheFlis12345 · 10/08/2018 23:37

Timeisslippingaway, That was Goodnght Mr .Tom, so sad!

Up is the most upsetting film I have ever seen! The start of that, and Finding Nemo, are not fit for children!!

CanIBuffalo · 10/08/2018 23:38

Lucy Knight in ER. I was properly ugly crying for ages.

Sycamoretrees · 10/08/2018 23:50

Barbara from call the midwife - cried and cried, felt like the programme I loved had bitten me! Not sure I can forgive the writers!

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 10/08/2018 23:58

Sycamoretrees my dd came into the room just as Barbara slipped away. She was really worried until I explained why I was sobbing my heart out covered in snot 😢

rainbowsandsmiles · 11/08/2018 00:02

NRTFT.

Matthew in Anne of Green Gables. Sad Sad Makes me well up every time!

Mike from Desperate Housewives, don't cry but it's so sad.

CookPassBabtridge · 11/08/2018 00:04

@MrsGrindah Hate to break it to you.. Sad

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 11/08/2018 00:06

I think the only time I've cried at the tv over a death is the dog from turner and hooch.

SarfE4sticated · 11/08/2018 00:08

i cry at most things now (am 50) but I really cried when Victoria Wood died. She brought so much fun and laughter to my family it felt like she was one us.

I listen to a lot of R4 during the day at work through headphones, and often cry at various point throughout the day.

toastedbeagle · 11/08/2018 00:13

Oh I didn't know Dr Gregg Pratt died in ER and I've actually just cried!!! I became a Dr after being inspired by ER circa 1999 and genuinely now feel a bit bereft!! Waaaaahhh!!

Also a big Desperate Housewives fan but never watched the later series after reading a spoiler about Mike... just so invested by then it would kill me to watch it and see it!!

Will Gardner another one. Poor Alicia. Thanks to a Sky fuck up we missed several episodes and my DH was bemused when I openly wept when I realised what had happened. Was always a crush ever since seeing Dont Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead...
