Sobbing over the death of a TV character

We are binge watching Boardwalk Empire. My favourite character died last night and I was in bits. It was beautifully done and a shocking end to the season.
I haven't felt this way since Thelma and Louise went over the canyon. Sad

Yes, the country girl, Shane dying in Angel’s arms was heartbreaking!!! I remember sobbing!

SideOrderofSprouts · 10/08/2018 18:23

Oh and the wife that died in heartbeat. Always remember nick what’s his face stood outside after she died just looking at the snow

daughterofanarchy · 10/08/2018 18:24

Recently watched Sons of Anarchy and yes. Opie dying was horrible, traumatic and emotional. Hubby and I still talk about how sad it was (yes we know it’s only tv but it was so upsetting)

Sandstormbrewing · 10/08/2018 18:43

I virtually never cry at films or TV, but watching blood diamond, the bit with the child soldiers being given heroin made me cry. Child soldiers is my one weakness.

I roared when Aidan died in coronation street. Like uncontrollably sobbed

My sister is a massive Corrie fan and when Deirdre Barlow died she was in bits. She then ran into the actor who plays Ken Barlow IRL in a restaurant local to her. She said "Oh Ken, it's you isn't it?" he said "yes, it's me, hello" she said "oh it's so lovely to see you, I'm so sorry about Deirdre, a terrible loss" he said "yes, she will be very much missed".

What makes the the madness slightly better is that the actress had died IRL.

And Nana in the Royle family

hartof · 10/08/2018 19:10

Nashville won't say who as it wasn't too long ago. But I sobbed as if a family member had died.

Nana in Royle Family gets me everytime too.

BeetlebumShesAGun · 10/08/2018 19:13

Morse. When Lewis kisses his forehead at the end.

I can’t watch The Body episode of Buffy I sob all the way through. Buffy’s “Mommy?” And “We’re not supppsed to move the body!”. Anya’s speech about not understanding why people die. Giles putting on the record from Band Candy.

Spike crying at the end of The Gift always gets me as well.

I cried loads when Nana Royle died. And Opie in Sons of Anarchy.

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 10/08/2018 19:14

Bobby Simone's death in NYPD Blue was devastating for me.

FabulouslyFab · 10/08/2018 19:21

I cried driving to work the morning after the recent Mamma Mia premier when Chris Evans on the radio said that Meryl Streep’s character had passed away! Hit me right out of the blue. Still haven’t been to see the film...

TheCountryGirl · 10/08/2018 19:24

Yes, the country girl, Shane dying in Angel’s arms was heartbreaking!!! I remember sobbing!

Daughter it was just as they had found happiness. 😫

I still follow Melissa George's career - I loved her so much we Angel!

TheCountryGirl · 10/08/2018 19:24

AS Angel!!

user1494667160 · 10/08/2018 19:28

Rita and Deb in Dexter

CookPassBabtridge · 10/08/2018 19:38

Oh and Warrick in CSI Vegas Sad

Cattenberg · 10/08/2018 19:39

The Country Girl, I was a bit upset when Anty died.

I often cry more over animals than people. I'm not sure that's normal.

VintageVelvet · 10/08/2018 19:43

There are many, I can be a right sap.

But Will from the good wife rendered me a blubbering wreck. I was binge watching earlier this year, and was totally engrossed in the love between him and Alesha. Took me days to return to the series. Then the last episode he appeared in where he was letting her go had me all over again.

Also Nana in the Royle family.

Not an inshow death, but I can’t watch Sopranos again knowing Tony is actually dead. His real life death gutted me. Adored his character, he was a good psychopath.

strawberrypenguin · 10/08/2018 19:43

Lots of Greys Anatomy
Joyce and Anya in Buffy
Ianto in Torchwood it think I spent the entire second half of that episode sobbing - I've never been able to re watch it.
Mrs Landingham in WW
The start of UP
The Lion King

And many more. I'm terrible for crying at TV. LaLa Land had me sobbing too.

malfoyy · 10/08/2018 19:47

The death or Arthur in Merlin.

I still can't rewatch that episode.

So much for Destiny and whatnot, killed him off before he even fulfilled it. Stupid writers.

Yohoahoy · 10/08/2018 19:49

The end of Blake's 7 Sad
