Like brain surgery or astrophysics. You know the kind of thing that's easier than the absolute slog of princessing.

Sounds like a good idea, but where will they hang their hats while they operate?

twoheaped · 05/08/2018 06:48

Is Beatrice pregnant?
I caught the end of Sarah Ferguson on the One Show and they were on about her being a grandma.

longwayoff · 05/08/2018 06:50

Hmm good question. Hang hat on telescope?

Or perhaps they'd like to try making ends meet, week in week out, raising a family on a minimum wage? Or on benefits? How about they give being homeless a shot?

Poor little rich girls 👑👠🛍👜👸

JuneFromBethesda · 05/08/2018 06:54

With all the privileges they enjoy they really should have the sense to keep their mouths shut about any parts of the ‘job’ that aren’t to their liking.

Oysterbabe · 05/08/2018 06:56

I wouldn't want to be in their position TBF.

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 05/08/2018 06:58

They clearly have no idea of their level of privilege. Silly girls.

ivykaty44 · 05/08/2018 06:58

Perhaps they need to try being homeless on JSA for a few weeks. Might be quite a holiday for them 🙄

PumpkinPie2016 · 05/08/2018 07:00

Yes, I'm sure it's so hard for them having no money worries and the freedom to do what you wantHmm

Honestly, when there are so many people in the country struggling to get by each day, having to choose between heating and good or using food banks you would think they would keep their mouths shut!

Better still, they could volunteer helping people and show some compassion.

I'm not anti royal but for some reason, those two really get on my nerves.

StepBackNow · 05/08/2018 07:02

They grown up as "entitled" as their dreadful father.

Cantusethatname · 05/08/2018 07:05

When Beatrice said she wanted to be a "mini mummy" I thought I was going to throw up.
Like anyone needs another Sarah Ferguson.
Or Prince Andrew for that matter.

Thatsfuckingshit · 05/08/2018 07:06

I actually see both sides. I am a single parent. Having the wealth they do would really improve my life. Less stress, less worrying about making ends meet, making sure I haven't over spent and can afford the mortgage.

But then I think I am lucky that I earn enough, could get a mortgage and do usually have enough to cover bills. There are people in worse situations than me.

And that's the issue. I don't think being a princess is all fun. I would hate, the papers reporting on me. Critiquing everything I wear, who I am seeing, where I have going, where I have been etc. I would find that disturbing. But they do have privilege.

I bet it's not easy and draining. However, they should have the good grace to keep their mouths shut and realise that so many people's lives are infinity more difficult, that this statement makes them sound like dicks.

coolncalm · 05/08/2018 07:06

Not for them the fear of homelessness, foodbanks and sheer poverty that so many have to face in Britain. We don't want to hear about any hardship tales from the privileged ones.

Antigonads · 05/08/2018 07:07

Modern princess my arse. They are stuck in a timewarp.

mineisarossini · 05/08/2018 07:08

Who on earth advised them to go to the press or have an interview and moan about social media sometimes being 'nasty' to them? Very ill advised, and made them look stupid and immature. Sorry to disappoint but actually no one at all cares...

Why are we even still paying for the hangers on like this?

They bring absolutely nothing to the country, and this should be changed when the Queen passes on. I like the royal family in general, but it really must be condensed if it is have any kind of future.

OutComeTheWolves · 05/08/2018 07:09

To be fair to them, you've really paraphrased what was said in the interview. I'm fairly sure they understand how privileged they are. They were talking about trying to be working royals in an age where your every move is critiqued on social media. They acknowledged that this generation of royals are the first to deal with this (I suppose in the same way their parents were the first to deal with tabloid intrusion on such a large scale) and discussed the issue of seeing airbrushed/photoshopped images on Instagram and reminding yourself that they're not always real.

I'm not particularly a royalist but I think they made some fairly salient points. They certainly didn't suggest they work harder than an astrophysicist or their life is more difficult than someone who is struggling to pay the bills.

Oysterbabe · 05/08/2018 07:10

They absolutely don't have the freedom to do what they want. Say they wanted to go out and get a bit hammered with their mates then on to a nightclub and a kebab on the way home. It'd be in every paper the next day. What if they fancied hooking up with a tattooed bartender, would they be allowed to choose him as a partner?

Having money doesn't mean their life is perfect. I'd absolutely hate to have to live my life under constant scrutiny and wouldn't swap with them for all the money in the world.

coolncalm · 05/08/2018 07:13

I am totally against having a royal family. I read recently it costs the taxpayer £100 million for police protection for 21 of them.Nice to know how much more deserving they are than the rest of us.

araiwa · 05/08/2018 07:15

If i dont like my job i can get another

If i want to go to the shop in my pyjamas i can

If i want to say or do stupid things, i can

They have no choice in their 'job' , their appearance, what they say, what they do is examined and critiqued to the nth degree.

They cant simply tell people to fuck off when they say nasty, spiteful things like on this thread.

They dont worry about money but there are plenty of other issues they face

Antigonads · 05/08/2018 07:18

🎻

longwayoff · 05/08/2018 07:20

But they're not really under constant scrutiny. They have agreed to this soft interview, mum's been on tv to add her twopennorth, this publicity was arranged and actively pursued by them. Therefore if they are prepared to put themselves up to pontificate on their lives they must expect responses.

AlonsoTigerHeart · 05/08/2018 07:21

They did an interview and a photo shoot?!?

They will need two holidays to recover from the intense work load

JuneFromBethesda · 05/08/2018 07:23

Look at Zara Tindall - ok so she never had the princess title thanks to her sensible parents, but she seems to manage ok, generally keeping under the radar of press scrutiny/criticism. She appears to live a relatively normal life.

Banana8080 · 05/08/2018 07:24

100% they love it and they and their dad are desperate for it all.

blearyeyedbear · 05/08/2018 07:27

I agree with much of what has been said, but I also think there life must be very upsetting at times. The press really dislike them as they do not fit the tall, slim, beautiful, fashionable stereotype that the media peddles as princess perfect. Luckily for Kate she does. As did Diana. Beatrice and Eugenie are costantly ridiculed over their appearance. That must be hard. Charles' line are exempted and protected from media attack, but Fergie and her family are not. Can you imagine what it must feel like to see publci comments about how fat you are, how ugly, how awful your clothes etc. They aren't any of these things. They are just average young women. I'm impressed neither have had breakdowns tbh.
