Excessive bleeding and passing blood clots after cervical biopsy - I need a hand hold, please.

Sorry, this is definitely TMI but I'm all alone and a bit scared.
I had a cervical biopsy and colposcopy this morning and now, 7 hours later I'm still bleeding non-stop and passing, what I presume, are huge blood clots (looks like raw liver).
The gynaecologist didn't tell me to expect this so I don't know if it's normal or not.
I'm home alone with no sanitary pads so I'm just sitting on the toilet most of the time. I've had to put wads of kitchen towel in my knickers when I need to move about but withing seconds its soaked through.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, please tell me its nothing to worry about.

If the gynae didn't mention it it doesn't sound normal. Phone the department.
Hope you can talk to someone with professional advice soon.

princesstiasmum · 03/08/2018 15:19

No experience of anything like this sorry, but i think you should ring NHS 111, they will advise you,it doesnt sound normal to me
Or ring the hospital you had the procedure at,they might say to go back,or at least should know if its to be expected
Hope you will be ok

DioneTheDiabolist · 03/08/2018 15:20

I had this when I had a cervical biopsy OP. But it was explained in the info pamphlet so they gave me a pad at the hospital and I had plenty in. Can you call someone and ask them to bring you some?

Beeziekn33ze · 03/08/2018 15:22

If you can't get the hospital phone 111
You need proper advice and help as well as virtual handholding.

MellowMelly · 03/08/2018 15:22

I had the same experience after one of mine. Absolutely huge clots that I could feel sliding out of me and terrible bleeding. I went to the GP and they sent me straight back to Colposcopy and I was re-cauterised so to speak.
I would seek advice by ringing where you had your Colposcopy done or your GP.

HoleyCoMoley · 03/08/2018 15:25

You poor thing, you must ring 111 or the hospital.

whattimeislove · 03/08/2018 15:29

Yes I had this. They put a large tampon-like thing in at the time and told me to take it out in a few hours. When I did I experienced the same as you. We called the doctor out and he said it would stop (it did eventually).

In your shoes I'd call 111 as it's worth getting checked over

Darkstar4855 · 03/08/2018 15:31

It’s nothing that can’t be sorted out but I would ring the colposcopy unit where you had your biopsy for advice.

HicDraconis · 03/08/2018 15:32

I’d get to A&E - ambulance if you have to. Continual bleeding and large clots needs assessment.

DBN1 · 03/08/2018 15:33

Thank you so much Flowers
Now please don't be angry with me because I really didn't mean to drip feed, I just posted in a bit of a panic and forgot to mention that I'm not in the UK, have no phone to use for calls (just a wanky old one that I can get WiFi on) and my nearest neighbours that speak English are out.
My husband will be home in about 8 hours time Sad We have no car, live a good hour away from the hospital, there are no buses and he's starting work at 6am tomorrow so I really am just stuck here.
I'm not in much pain, just mild cramping, so that's ok.

I've had the biopsy and colposcopy and I didn't bleed that much. Ring the hospital where you had it done to get some advice, it could be normal but there's no harm in ringing them to make sure x

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 03/08/2018 15:36

Can you put money into Skype and call your hospital through your WiFi that way?

You really need to talk to someone - eight hours of heavy bleeding by yourself is quite dangerous; and it'll be unpleasant with no pads. If you really can't disturb your husband; you need to call the hospital.

DBN1 · 03/08/2018 15:38

My right leg has gone dead so I just tried to get off the loo, as I stood up another big clot just slid out Envy (not envy)

OP posts:
whattimeislove · 03/08/2018 15:40

You definitely need to go back. How did you get home? Taxi? Contact your husband or a taxi to go back to the hospital.

DBN1 · 03/08/2018 15:40

There really is no way of contacting the hospital, even if I could I wouldn't be able to speak to them as my grasp on the language here is not quite up to that level.

OP posts:
whattimeislove · 03/08/2018 15:41

Your husband then - contact him and if nothing else get him to call for you

DBN1 · 03/08/2018 15:43

whattimeislove We came home by bus and motorbike. I've got an electric 3-wheel scooter but the battery wouldn't make it and the road is far too dangerous.
I'm well and truly stuck here, on the loo.

OP posts:
HoleyCoMoley · 03/08/2018 15:43

I'm surprised they even let you go home without having someone to look after you, which country are you in. I wouldn't leave it I hours if you are still bleeding, can you message your dh to come home.

DioneTheDiabolist · 03/08/2018 15:44

It is gross OP. I remember it looking like someone had emptied a bag of chopped steak down the loo.Sad Can you get a message to your DH? Even if he can't come home, he could call the hospital and ask questions that you are emailing him. It could be normal (as it was in my case), or it may be something more.

DBN1 · 03/08/2018 15:44

I can't contact my husband. I can't contact anybody unless via WiFi.

OP posts:
HoleyCoMoley · 03/08/2018 15:44

Can you plug the scooter in end charge it up enough to knock on someone's door, even a shop or a bar, to call for help.

rainbowstardrops · 03/08/2018 15:47

I think it's time you called your DH for some help. I really do

rainbowstardrops · 03/08/2018 15:48

Sorry, cross posts.

MellowMelly · 03/08/2018 15:48

Oooo. I’m stumped now! I would pester your husband unfortunately.

DBN1 · 03/08/2018 15:48

DioneTheDiabolist I don't understand how the clots are so big. The bit of lesion they took off was about the size of a plump grain of cooked rice. I was definitely not expecting this!
