Excessive bleeding and passing blood clots after cervical biopsy - I need a hand hold, please.

Sorry, this is definitely TMI but I'm all alone and a bit scared.
I had a cervical biopsy and colposcopy this morning and now, 7 hours later I'm still bleeding non-stop and passing, what I presume, are huge blood clots (looks like raw liver).
The gynaecologist didn't tell me to expect this so I don't know if it's normal or not.
I'm home alone with no sanitary pads so I'm just sitting on the toilet most of the time. I've had to put wads of kitchen towel in my knickers when I need to move about but withing seconds its soaked through.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, please tell me its nothing to worry about.

Please let us know how you are when you've seen the doctor, just lie still and save your energy.

DBN1 · 03/08/2018 23:14

Why the fuck wouldn't it be real????!

This is awful op. Is your dh back now? Are you going to go back to hospital?
I hope you manage to get sorted. It's bad enough when something like this happens, but to be alone and isolated must be terrifying!
Best of luck to you, please update when you can so we know you are ok

DBN1 · 03/08/2018 23:21

And before any other hairy hand arses ask, the reason I've got all the soiled paper and pads is A) because we can't put them down the toilet and B) to show my husband the extent of the problem.
Fucks sake, do people really have nothing better to do?!

He's still not home. Its now almost 1.30am here so not much chance of getting a taxi so it'll have to be motorbike or ambulance.

OP, I recently had a polyp removed from my cervix, they basically twisted it off and then cauterised it. There was a bit of brown blood, and then a whole day of heavy bleeding, two flooded towels. A lot more that I thought tbh. It was only for one day though and then stopped quickly. They gave me a sheet telling me what would be excessive and when to call the doc - two full towels in an hour I think it said. There were clots though, as you said, and it was brown and went on for about 3-4 days. Have a look online and see if you can find some info from a UK hospital - something here, but can't vouch for the site. Good luck!

magpie24 · 03/08/2018 23:34

Please call an ambulance

BrutusMcDogface · 04/08/2018 04:28

Just read the thread and hoping you're ok, op. How scary for you to be cut off like this, too. Sad I'm glad you will be getting a new phone/setting up some means of communication or an emergency plan. Take care Flowers

Good morning you lovely lot Flowers
Well you won't believe this but I'm fine. Still a bit lightheaded but the bleeding appears to have stopped completely.
My husband came home around 1.30am (here) and we were making arrangements to get to hospital. I got up to get some things ready to take and after a few seconds of being on my feet I realised that the familiar feeling of the blood coming and clot falling wasn't there. I sat on the loo for a while and a little bit of blood came but no clot at all.
I decided to sit and wait. After an hour of absolutely nothing more I went to bed and, happy to report that there's been no blood at all overnight or so far this morning.
I really can't believe it could stop so suddenly, especially just as my husband came home! There's still the bags of soiled paper, liners and pads so at least he believed how bad it had been.
He's gone to work now but left his phone with me and he'll put credit on it once he's at work. I've also got a list of phone numbers to contact should I need to.
I'm planning on staying in bed as much as possible today and will make sure I eat something too.
Thanks so much for all the hand holding yesterday. It really did make a scary situation easier to cope with Flowers

That's a relief. Glad you are feeling better. Please get yourself a phone. Hopefully this is just a wake up call to illustrate how precarious it is to be without one.

Booboostwo · 04/08/2018 09:03

That’s great news! That was my experience years ago as well. Hours of scary bleeding and clots and then finished just like that.

whattimeislove · 04/08/2018 10:10

Glad you're much better. It was similar with me, but terrifying at the time. Please make sure you both have decent links to the outside world in future.

Beeziekn33ze · 04/08/2018 10:11

So relieved to read your post. Take it easy for a while.

DioneTheDiabolist · 04/08/2018 11:20

Glad it's stopped and you're better today OP.Smile

Apileofballyhoo · 04/08/2018 11:22

Thanks for updating OP and glad you're ok.
