I've just been a complete twat...

I think, anyway! Not sure now! So I'll put it to the MN jury...and I'll happily apologize, because I have the ability to own my shit.

Chatting to a friend about going out tonight (after the week I've had, I bloody deserve it!)

She started on a massive stretch about me claiming PIP to "piss it up the wall", I obviously need the disposible income, etc, etc. It was really bitchy!

She's made catty comments in the past, but tbh I thought that was down to me- I have a weird sense of humor, and take the piss out of myself all the time. But never like this.

She said that, if I was independant enough to go out alone (I'll be meeting a friend, but eill be making my own way) I shouldn't be claiming Personal INDEPENDANCE Payment, and that "I'm what's wrong with the government atm!

I sent her a REALLY sarky text in reply, but it's made me doubt myself!

I need to calm down...

Friend is definitely the twat. My BIL and MIL both claim PIP and my DSIS is in the process. The amount of hoops they have to jump through is absurd. Does this 'friend' really think you should gave a life or help financially?

My DGM was partially sighted for the last decade of her life and she hated losing her independence with a passion. She never let her emotions get the better of her in front if us but cried that she couldn't knit or drive anymore. But she worked damn hard to keep her independence and have a life without always calling my parents or me. I have full respect and do not blame you for the reply at all.

blueangel1 · 03/08/2018 13:54

Wow. YANBU. Getting PIP is an horrendous process these days and it isn't handed out lightly.

If she thinks that all disabled people should stay indoors to avoid offending the able-bodied, she needs to give her head a wobble.

ALongHardWinter · 03/08/2018 13:55

Christ almighty, not another one who thinks that anyone with any sort of disability should be housebound.

Lellikelly26 · 03/08/2018 13:56

My brother has a disability that you can’t see, he gets the most horrendous comments from people who really have no idea. The life he has had no one would choose. Unfortunately ignorance is rife

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 03/08/2018 13:57

“Chatting to a friend about going out tonight (after the week I've had, I bloody deserve it!)”

You misspelt cunt. Friends don’t do what she did.

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 03/08/2018 13:57

Have a great night out OP!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 03/08/2018 13:57

It was stressful- but I'm using the experience to help others now, so I'm glad I went there. If I CAN help anyone through the claims process, please feel free to ask?

I like your style OP

Andtheresaw · 03/08/2018 14:02

I've NC but am already on the thread (so as not to sockpuppet).
I am thick as shit and only leave the house to come to work as no-one likes me.
Can I have your PIP as you clearly don't need it, you independent thing you, to buy myself a friend?
Thanks

Sweetcarrielynne · 03/08/2018 14:02

Your friend was an arsehole!!! Enjoy your night out!

PinkSquash · 03/08/2018 14:06

Christ Almighty, she sounds the worst type of person to work in CAB.

OP I love your style!

mumsastudent · 03/08/2018 14:07

what people forget is that "even" people on pip universal credit or any benefit whatsoever pay tax. Do you buy food from a supermarket?the transport of the food & the fuel is part of that price even if the food is untaxed itself. Do you drive or use public transport: the fuel is taxed the upkeep of the vehicle is taxed the person driving it which you may pay for is taxed, your clothing is taxed, your gas elc etc is taxed, any servicing of anything that doesn't work & you need to have fixed is taxed as are the part required - I could go on (but thankfully I wont :) )

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 03/08/2018 14:09

Andthere sorry but that made me giggle! I call myself thick as shit because, with everyday simple tasks, I am! I can recite whole chapters of Shakespeare, work out number stuff to 5 decimal places in my head- and yet I just had to go back in the house because I realized I'd forgotten to put shoes on.

My DD calls me "Uncle Quentin".

I’m sorry about your cunty ex friend OP but I have to say I think I fucking love you for this:

“She said "I had a c section too, and I've breastfed both of mine". I'm ashamed to say "were they twins? Because no one would have fucked you twice"

Grin
Elderfleurs · 03/08/2018 14:09

Just because you claim PIP doesn't mean you have to have no life! I haven't always been a high earner, there have been times where I've struggled but still treated myself to the occasional drunk with friends. Your mental health depends on it. I know mine does anyway!

You seem really cool by the way I'd happily help you piss your PIP up the wall one evening Grin

YeTalkShiteHen · 03/08/2018 14:10

If it makes you feel any better I was so high on gas and air when the horrid midwife was being really awful to me that I forgot to do my inside voice while telling DP that she looked like the goblin from the bank in Harry Potter!

DiagramFan · 03/08/2018 14:10

@AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley

"were they twins? Because no one would have fucked you twice"

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

YeTalkShiteHen · 03/08/2018 14:11

Oh and PIP entitlement is fuck all to do with anyone else, my friend has MS and works and claims PIP, I’m apparently eligible (autistic) but too scared of the forms!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 03/08/2018 14:11

Things such as having to buy pre chopped food from the supermarket adds up. Or I'd chop my eyes off prepping it!

OP posts:
Eatmycheese · 03/08/2018 14:14

That c section aside is just priceless

She’s a massive twunt and you are well shot of that kind of person in your life. She’s shown you her true colours you show her the door

mumsastudent · 03/08/2018 14:14

if she sent you a disablist text & she works for CAB …..pity that doesn't get into her managers hands....I wouldn't like to think someone with that attitude works there.

Andtheresaw · 03/08/2018 14:14

erm, chop fingers off because you can't see?....chopping your eyes off seems self defeating tbh

reallybadidea · 03/08/2018 14:14

What did the midwife say to that?!

I think you might have recourse to complain to HR because of what she said to you. ESPECIALLY seeing as you both work for the CAB shock

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 03/08/2018 14:14

YeTalkShit hope you don't mind me offering, as I don't know you- but if I can give you any help filling it out, plop me a PM.

Sorry I'm replying to everyone one at a time. It takes me ages to read the bloody thing! (Not really- I just like having the phone close enough to lick!)
