Condoms in online grocery ‘favourites’ - AIBU to think DP is cheating?

I’ve just done our online shop and while browsing ‘favourites’ there was a Durex multipack!m on the list! I recognise all the other products in the favourites list apart from one type of men’s deodorant.

Both were ‘sponsored’ items so maybe I’m being paranoid?! But condoms are an unusual item to try and sell us as we - or should that be I?! - haven’t bought any for a few years!!!

AIBU to think that DP is blatantly cheating?!

germaine Grin fabulous typo. I thought you lived alone with your castrated dog and hadn't given the poor beast his own club card.

GabsAlot · 01/08/2018 22:54

the dog bought the condoms!

ParanoidOrSunburnt · 01/08/2018 22:55

esk1mo - good point! If he had bought the deodorant for his date with the (alleged but looking increasingly doubtful) bit-on-the-side, the deodorant would be here somewhere?! He wouldn’t have used a whole can! I’ll check his wash bag!

@germainegrainne 😂 hilarious

OP, I think it's just sponsored, totally unrelated.

ParanoidOrSunburnt · 01/08/2018 22:56

Germaine - I thought you were talking about an actual dog too ha ha!!!

Has he ever done the online shop? Does he realise that anything bought in store would show up in your favourites? He’s probably just given his club card in when shopping automatically, without thinking. If I were you I’d ring the Tesco online phone number (or email them through the website). I’d just be honest with them, it might feel a bit awkward, but at the end of the day it’s not like you’re ever going to meet the person your talking to. I’d say something along the lines of, ‘I’ve noticed an item in my online shopping favourites that I have never purchased, is this because the item is being promoted or is it because the 2nd card holder has purchased the item in store?’ If they say it is down to an in store purchase I’d ask if there’s any way of telling when they were bought. Hope it all works out for the best OP x

Just had a look at my favourites on Asda and there's a few things I've never bought on it.

ManyCrisps · 01/08/2018 23:00

OP Do you understand what the word sponsored means it means Durex have paid Tesco to promote their condoms in the hope you will buy them. Also items you’ve bought before also saying sponsored also means that these businesses have paid Tesco not that it isn’t sponsored because you’ve actually bought them.

BuntyII · 01/08/2018 23:02

If I was buying conforms for an affair I wouldn't go into Tesco!! I'd go into an obscure chemist miles away where nobody would spot me.

lapenguin · 01/08/2018 23:02

I'm sure it is all innocent, but you can always see about a receipt if you really want to put your mind at ease!
Find the thought of someone making sure they get their club card points as they buy their condoms funny 😂

Mydogmylife · 01/08/2018 23:11

But they have said you're being unreasonable!

ShapelyBingoWing · 01/08/2018 23:14

Sponsored items are by definition products that you have not bought but that companies have paid money to have advertised to you in a certain place, such as a favourites list. Companies will request retailers to advertise X product (such as condoms) to Y consumer group (such as people who have recently been purchasing products that indicate they've recently had a baby). Seriously OP, stand down. It's probably showing there because you've recently bought bibs or nappies.

0range99 · 01/08/2018 23:26

I'm MNetting and doing my online shop and they have come up for me as well.

I have a coil and my OH (we don't live together so he wouldn't have been buying stuff on my CC) has had the snip, and this is a newish account so I know I have never bought condoms online or instore.

Hope that helps put your mind at rest a bit.

AlphaBravo · 01/08/2018 23:34

It's sponsored. Based on shoppers of a similar age who buy similar products.

Nothing to do with what you regularly buy at all. YABU Op.

causeimunderyourspell · 01/08/2018 23:50

God, £1 a condom?! Jeez!

Rinoachicken · 02/08/2018 00:03

Sure chad to recall a large selection of condoms yesterday (or day before) - I’d guess Tesco are just betting that people might need to replace them!

Rinoachicken · 02/08/2018 00:03

Durex, not sure chad!!!

Guiltypleasures001 · 02/08/2018 00:21

My dh works away at the moment. And I busted him this way last week, because ginsters was on my shopping favourites 😁 he couldn't deny it

@Jessicapolitron do get the fuck out of here and take your bullshit scam elsewhere.

changeyourbedsheets · 02/08/2018 07:53

Looking forward to reading about this in the Daily Mail later.

longwayoff · 02/08/2018 07:56

Don't fret, all kinds of rubbish creeps into favourites, things I would never buy and have never bought.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 02/08/2018 08:25

From a data protection perspective; I wonder if Tesco could confirm if they've been purchased or not. I suspect they may not want to...

areyouactuallykidding · 02/08/2018 08:34

That is quite a long time to go without sex. Sorry, I know that is a bit unhelpful but maybe your spidey-senses are onto something.

What a disgusting comment. No man should be cheating because his post pregnancy wife has been unable to have sex. If he is upset about the situation he should have a conversation like an adult not go an shag someone else because ‘he can’t help it’. Relationships are more than sex. Stop blaming the woman.

And no-one should think that little of their partner that they think this might happen based off solely of an online shop. I’d suggest the relationship issues go a lot deeper than not having had sex for a while and you need to sort that out

lubeybooby · 02/08/2018 08:39

yabu - sponsored items in tesco faves are nothing to do with whats actually been bought
