To be unsurprised that Corbyn is still being called anti-semitic?

crunchymint · 01/08/2018 14:59

Corbyn has been quite happy over the years to work with those who are clearly anti-Semitic. And he continues to do so. Whilst at the same time saying that he condemns all forms of racism, recently changed to say he condemns anti semitism. Does he not realise yet that people judge him by his actions, not his broad statements which are pretty meaningless? And until he clearly shows in his actions that he condemns anti semitism, these allegations will continue?

Strange given they disbanded 20 years ago
And yet he is still unable to condem them. But dont worry, as long as he can bash the Jews its all good.

Justanotherlurker · 01/08/2018 19:34

The same government behind go home vans, windrush scandal and allegations of islamophobia. Adopting IHRA does not excuse the Tories from abhorrent policies.

Pure whataboutry, nobody is saying the Tories do not have a problem. There is (and always has) been a problem on the Left with antisemitism, hence why Stormfront backed JC in the last election, because they now his past

But as usual it will be brushed under the carpet by his adoring fans as a smear

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 01/08/2018 19:34

Also some of the ex IRA people he has praised have gone to their graves knowing where the bodies were buried (literally) worries me.

Wrong again.

Jeremy Corbyn signed a motion that condemned IRA violence in 1994

papayasareyum · 01/08/2018 19:35

The Labour Party has a big problem with anti Semitism and the denial on this thread just sharply underlines it. I listen to Jewish people on this subject and if Jewish people say they find Corbyn and co anti Semitic and feel discriminated against, I believe them. If a black person said they were experiencing discrimination, would be question them and tell them they were mistaken and they hadn’t experienced discrimination? Obviously not! The hypocrisy is outstanding.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 01/08/2018 19:37

Pure whataboutry, nobody is saying the Tories do not have a problem.

and yet strangely those who scream about a-s aren't starting threads about the comments of Tory MP's and the allegations of islamophobia. Either condemn all discrimination were it is proven or none at all. Its not really an issue you can be selective on.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 01/08/2018 19:38

There’s very few ppl on here that view May as a messiah though... sadly I think some ppl seem to with corbyn.

crunchymint · 01/08/2018 19:40

Corbyn is traditional left. I have known men like this my whole life. They don't care about women and misogyny, they don't care about anti semitism, they are pro trans, and they support all the trendy left wing causes.
They have no real analysis of oppression.

Touche, next time the Tories Islamophobia issue comes up I will make sure its proven, and then I will follow your example by pointing out labour and brushing everything aside.

crunchymint · 01/08/2018 19:42

But apparently I can no longer post condemning a particular person in the public eye for misogyny, racism or homophobia, unless I make it clear that I condemn everyone.

Yeah, you might be waiting a while which was partly my earlier point.

crunchymint · 01/08/2018 19:46

"Early in Jeremy Corbyn’s term as Labour leader, I remember watching clips of a phone-in he hosted for Press TV, Iran’s official television channel. (These have now been deleted from YouTube.) In one, he listened politely as a caller described Israel as a “disease” – not agreeing, but not disagreeing either – and replied: “OK, thank you for your call”. Another caller described the BBC as “Zionist liars”, to equally little reaction."

There are lots of examples like this. Corbyn does not say anti semitic things, but he does not challenge them either.

Jeremy Corbyn signed a motion that condemned IRA violence in 1994

FFS, what crap. That motion just commemorated the victims, it doesn't condemn the IRA killers. All Corbyn has ever said is that he condemns "all bombing", ... unless its done by Jews. In which case Israel troops are committing illegal and inhumane” actions.

He is clearly an Anti-Semite and everyone knows it.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 01/08/2018 19:49

So Corbyn is now responsible for what random radio phone in callers say? This really is scraping the barrel.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 01/08/2018 19:52

It seems only one poster is defending him?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 01/08/2018 19:52

All Corbyn has ever said is that he condemns "all bombing"

Well if you understood anything about the troubles you'd know that both Loyalist and Republican paramilitaries carried out killings. So "all bombings" pretty much covers it, particularly in a political landscape that is culturally sensitive. But nothing is ever good enough is it?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 01/08/2018 19:53

It seems only one poster is defending him?

Another selective reader.

crunchymint · 01/08/2018 19:54

Frank Corbyn is to blame for not saying that is not okay. Radio hosts deal with people all the time saying racist or misogynistic things, and every single time I have heard that the host has condemned what was said. You don't just say - okay - as if it is acceptable.
Or are you the kind of person that when someone says something racist to you you say nothing?

and now we are back to pointing out that criticising Israel (its government) is not a crime.

crunchymint · 01/08/2018 19:59

So you don't think that was an example of anti semitism?

OP posts:
Walkingdeadfangirl · 01/08/2018 20:06

Who has ever argued that it was a crime? The problem with Corbyn isn't his criticising of the Israel government, its his agrement acceptance of criticism of people because they are Jewish.

eg Ken Livingstone compared a Jew to a concentration camp guard and Jeremy Corbyn refused to expel him from the party.

SillySallySingsSongs · 01/08/2018 20:10

Ken Livingstone compared a Jew to a concentration camp guard and Jeremy Corbyn refused to expel him from the party.

Oh yes, who can forget that little gem.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 01/08/2018 20:11

I do wonder at this
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-44875908
are they more interested in punishing her than making sure that ppl can retain anti Semitic views in the party?

crunchymint · 01/08/2018 20:11

Calling the BBC Zionist liars is anti Semitic. It comes from the allegation that Jewish people dominate power such as banks and the media, and feeds into the idea of a jewish conspiracy.
But I think I ma beginning to understand the issue. You simply don't understand anti semitism and so think this is a valid criticism of Israel. Just like those people who defend golliwogs as a harmless toy.
Easy not to see anti semitism if you don't actually understand it.

As usual, those who are supposedly left leaning are busy arguing amongst themselves, much to the delight of Conservative HQ and their corporate, newspaper-owning masters who are the ones busy stoking the fire.

Here we are , nine months away from arguably the most important event in British post-war history, led by arguably the worst government since World War 2 and with the far right growing in power, yet rather than offering up any opposition or alternative, the left prefer to cut their own throats (with knives carefully provided by the Daily Mail et al).

You lot perpetuating this shambles should be ashamed at your own stupidity (if you are actually the labour or left wing supporters you claim to be).
